I swear, you're the spawns of Ruza. The irritated words were muttered under her breath, eyes narrowed on the identical faces of her sons. Aishe was late... To her own engagement party. The twins thought it was funny to make her even more late with a bout of pranks. This is what it was to have two teenage male versions of her wife. The boys were busy laughing while their mother kept on huffing, rechecking her appearance. A few blonde strands had fallen from the pins that kept her waist-long hair fashioned up, but she decided it looked intentional. It'd have likely happened later anyway - keeping her thin hair pinned proved to be a difficult task most days. None of this would have happened if Akos just let me get ready there.
Bright eyes met the other two pairs, which were twinkling with mischief. She caught the twitch in their fingers and could feel the static in the air. Growling, her expression soured. I swear I'll send--
Shadows swarmed the area before converging, completely enveloping all three of them and pulling them away from their family room. Plucked up, they were promptly relocated into a different series of stone walls. Her threat continued, however, before she registered the new location.
--you to Rieron and see if he straightens you out.
Again, she huffed with mild shame of using her brother-in-law as a threat, but now her eyes were scanning the fresh surroundings. Her gaze was quick to land on the King, who had an eyebrow raised and quite possibly an impatient expression. It appeared it was not another prank, but an earnest step closer to joining the party. Clearing her throat, the vampire offered an apologetic smile.
You can thank you future stepsons. She glanced back to Aeton and Aian, mouthing 'brats' in their direction to their great amusement. Little else needed to be said as shadows pulled together once again.
Tucked away, north of Imperius, was a bleak area of land. It was rather flat and often times, it seemed dull in even it's natural colour. The forests were scattered and the population was far from dense. It was not a large barony, but it was the one Akos had chosen despite its lack of visual or fiscal appeal. Or well, any appeal. It had been a few months since Akos had been granted the barony, and to this day, Aishe was in dismay to the choice.
It was there that they appeared. The North Mogwire Shire. Or, as Akos so affectionately called it, the Mog. The latter certainly felt more befitting to its landscape.
Blue eyes squinted while they searched said landscape. She had to admit, she was impressed. Akos was not one for the 'frivolous things in life', like an organized party with actual decorations and set up to it. It was Akos's idea to not just have a party, but for her to host it and have it at the Mog. Aishe was not allowed near the Mog during the preparations, which is why she had been back in Imperius with their impractical sons, the practical jokers. She had been worried, but between the distraction of work and the twins, the worry had been in the back of her mind. And now, it was mostly gone, seeing the transformed Mog.
Smoothing down her gold threaded dress, Aishe looked up to give the King a smile. The irritation on her face moments ago was already subsiding, with the hopes of having a good time with friends and strangers alike. The twins were quick to vanish, literally, probably off to find a new source of entertainment. She could do little to keep them there, so she decided to let it go for now. Instead, she mentioned how they needed to find Akos and began to move towards the house.

Re: [ORP] Hitchin' the Vardo (it's a party, let's get drunk!)
The night had drawn in and the King had waited for Aishe before heading to the party supposedly designed to celebrate their engagement, however it was quite the unusual party to do so, given no royal sanctioned had been granted for the event as was custom for a Royal Engagement. Furthermore the event was to be held in, well the politest terms would describe it as ‘the middle of nowhere’. Yet the land was indeed a barony, and within it contained many a marsh that saw the ripples of nature flow uninterrupted, albeit beneath the earth the working creatures did stir as many of the Kingdoms strategic mines were held within the land. Thus, small, swamped and somewhat unattractive to the eye to some, it was infact due to taxes and other boons one of the more prosperous baronies within the Kingdom of Fenia.
So the King was sat upon the back of a large black horse, it’s coat shimmered slightly in the moonlight, and the leather saddle which the King sat in was detailed with fine thread to present the symbols of his house and his royal status upon it. The King himself was wearing a dark navy attire, the King traditionally wore simple tones when in private, however out in a public event and one such as important as this required an equally elaborate wardrobe. His riding boots went just above the knee and were white with a blue embroided pattern, one boot detailed his own crowned sigil while the second presented the symbol of Aishe and Akos’ house to better identify their union. His breeches were dark navy, which contrasted slightly with the blue jerkin he wore, the arms of which had been threaded slightly to expose the white shirt beneath to provide a contrast between the light and dark, and over his shoulders was the fur of a white bear, rare in these lands, and had in truth been imported to him as a gift from a foreign land. Around his neck was his golden chain of office, which contained within it many gemstones and well worked pieces of silver and gold which at eye level when examined in detail told the story of Fenia’s collapse and rise of his own reign. Around his head was a crown, it was not often he wore such pieces, again preferring his chain of office, but once again situation demanded that he was dressed to represent his status as King and the power which came with it at important public events. Yet the crown was made of gold and contained within it around a dozen sapphires to match his outfit, the central jewel was larger than the rest and expanded from the simple gold band so that in the right light it would seem as if it, and not the sun, was granting the light to the room. Upon his fingers were various rings and stones, once again the cracked ruby ring was most significant given it had been the last remaining signet ring of the old Fenian Monarchy which had been saved from the collapse of the old castle.
As Aishe finally appeared beside him and her children vanished into the smoke and shadow he titled his head toward her, his hair constricted by the crown so for once it did not blow in the fresh evening breeze. ”Ahh M’Lady, I am so glad you could finally join me. Not least for I have been sitting here for sometime, one would not wish to be stood up for his own engagement party.” He said with a half grin before dismounting his steed and tilting his head in a bow toward her and offering his hand to her own, which he would grasp and proceed to lead her toward the house now that she was finally there and ready to attend. As they walked through the grounds many of the peasantry seemed to be stunned or awed by his presence. It was true, the King did rarely step outside of the capitol these days unless he sought the privacy of the hunt. Thus as they passed, and courtiers, peasants and guard bowed to their appearance he led Aishe toward the castle and passed the guards on the door, as they entered the building the sounds from outside, of cries to his majesty and of his blessing were lost to the music and the commotion within the home. Likewise as they walked through their appearance was met with bows and welcomes as a servant guided them through to where the Lady Akos was holding court.

Re: [ORP] Hitchin' the Vardo (it's a party, let's get drunk!)
Nikola did not usually enjoy parties unless they were impromptu affairs that resulted from a group of friends getting together and having a fun time. She tended to feel out of place at such things, but the engagement party for the King and his brides was not something she could allow herself to miss. She would have to put in an appearance, and she would have to dress for the occasion. She told herself that once she had been there for a reasonable amount of time, she could excuse herself and slip quietly back into the night and go home if she was still feeling uncomfortable.
She had left her choice of gowns up to Iris and although she had endured several fittings, she was only now seeing the end result. The gown was a deep sapphire blue, reflecting the color of her eyes and making them appear even richer than usual. The corseted bodice fit perfectly and was adorned with matching sapphire sequins scattered throughout the whole of the bodice and trimmed with a series of blue and white pearls arranged in a swirl of knotwork about the top and bottom edges of the bodice. The bodice was cut in a sweetheart pattern and the knotwork met in the center and plunged downward to create a stunning display of the jeweled knotwork. The short sleeves were made of puffy sheer fabric in the same sapphire color as the rest of the gown, covering her shoulders up to her neck on either side while leaving her décolletage clear. The neckline was held in place by small hidden straps looped around a necklace of large sapphires surrounded by diamonds, each grouping falling in a teardrop shape. The full skirts were a series of tiered fabric, coming together in the center front in the shape of a rose. Iris had even ordered a pair of slippers to match, although Nikola doubted the shoes would ever be seen.
Iris had pulled her hair up into a sophisticated updo, taming her blonde locks and pinning everything securely into place. Nikola shook her head to test the pins and not a hair escaped. As she checked herself in a full length mirror, she barely recognized the young woman in the reflection. “Iris, I knew you were talented, but you have outdone yourself with this,” she told her steward.
“You are going to a King’s engagement party, M’Lady, and you are the direct descendant of Vaelon of the Summer Vale. You should look the part,” was the woman’s reply, but the smile on her face told Nikola her longtime friend was pleased.
Another glance in the mirror and Nikola sighed. “I suppose riding Starr is out of the question in this,” she said, only half teasing. “Ben’s got the carriage out and ready for you. You’d best be going or you will be even later than usual,” Iris chided her good naturedly. Nikola chuckled and acquiesced to Iris’s ministrations as the steward herded her out of the room and down the stairs to the front parlor where the rest of the staff was ready to send her off. They oo’d and ah’d appropriately at Iris’s handiwork and she exited the manor house, gathering her skirts as Thomas helped her into the carriage. Young Ben was scrubbed and dressed in his best attire, she noted, and looked very pleased to be driving the carriage as they took off into the evening, heading for the North Mogwire Shire and Akos’s estate.
The trip took some time, long enough for Nikola to relax enough to start feeling anxious about the evening of entertainment. She began to worry that she may be overdressed for the affair, but it was too late now, and besides, Iris had worked vey hard to produce this outfit, and truth be told, she found it very beautiful as well as comfortable.
They finally arrived and Ben hopped down from the driver’s perch after affixing the brake to help her disembark from the carriage. “I’ll be out here whenever you are ready to leave, M’Lady,” he assured her. “Cook packed me a meal so I’ll be fine, don’t you worry,” he finished with a grin and bowed, something that surprised her as her staff normally did not do any of that at home. He seemed pleased with himself, though, so she let it pass and have his arm a squeeze. “You look handsome yourself tonight, Ben. Try to stay out of trouble, yes?” she grinned at him playfully. He was a good lad and not prone to heavy drinking or other risky behaviors that some in his position might be. She knew he would take excellent care of the carriage and horses and be ready at a moment’s notice to whisk her away and back home as soon as she was ready.
She turned and faced the quaint stone manor house and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as she made her way to the door. It was already open, welcoming the expected guests, and she entered inside, following the sounds of revelry to find the other guests who had arrived before her. She saw at once that Zuan and Aishe were already there, as was Akos, of course. She recognized Aingeal and Ella, apparently engaged in a drinking contest with several creatures she did not know, but who were dressed as members of the staff. That made her grin. Akos was never one to have airs and saw all creatures as equal regardless of their station and she really liked that about the woman. Off to the side she was delighted to find TK standing with Varann. She had wondered whether he would come to such an affair, and was glad to see him there.

Rannek pulled the razor away from his neck to examine his handiwork in the mirror. It was alright an job, not the best trimming he'd ever done but it would suffice for the coming events. He grabbed a nearby cloth and wiped away any remaining foam and loose hairs then made his way out of the tent.
There was to be a wedding tonight... no wait, that's not right... an engagement? A party, yeah that's it. Rannek couldn't help but shake his head at the complexity and seeming redundancy of some these mortal's rituals, they don't just celebrate pledging their lives to another, but celebrate the promise that they will be pledging their lives to each other. Oh well, it's got naught to do with him - he was there mostly to drink and enjoy himself, perhaps crack a too-rowdy head or two while he was at it. Still clad in nothing but the towel around his waist, he hopped into a shadow and made his way over to the venue.
Rannek stepped out of a shadow just outside the walls of the manor, fully-clothed in a dark-grey leather scale mail cuirass, a black sleeveless tunic, black fingerless gauntlets made of studded leather, a pair of dark-grey trousers and black knee-high length boots. The ensemble was quite bland and contrasted against the bright events that were supposed to transpire. But that was okay, Rannek was used to contrasting.
He adjusted one of his gauntlets and made his way inside, peasants and nobles alike hurrying to move out of his way.

Re: [ORP] Hitchin' the Vardo (it's a party, let's get drunk!)
She was late, Goddess forgive her she was late to her sister's engagement to do. She hopped down the steps of her vardo pulling the heel of the shoe she was wearing up to the proper place, moving forward still as she did so. The material of her skirt had given her fits as she arranged it. Her niece? Gods she hoped it was her niece, had lent her a dress. It was simple, but nicer than what she had. Aishe would kill her if she turned up in one of her ratty, ragged hand me downs, the colors faded with time, the sparkling metals dulled with time, the few decorative stones dangling by threads or called from their place entirely. She felt slightly uncomfortable in the pretty dress. It was nicer than anything she'd worn, save the time she'd...liberated a dress from Aishe's things to wear after falling into the water while traveling here from Cork. She forced her shoulders back and went to join the party. She would not embarrass her family and she would celebrate the coming nuptials to the fullest. It was a time of great joy. She looked around at some familiar faces and some she didn't know before finding a spot to curl up next to the fire, careful of the emerald colored dress she wore, the circlet Jandar had given her gleaming in her golden curls. She wondered if Zipp or Jandar would join her, in the gleaming firelight she did not see them, but that was possible with them, she never knew when or where they'd appear. Often surprising her at home.

Ella grabbed another drink that was offered and downed it as she had done the first three. Her free hand reached for another glass as she watched Akos, being pulled away to go be a proper host. Her brow furrowed slightly wondering if her drinking companion would return but nonetheless, she downed the fourth drink. She could feel the alcohol beginning to affect her. She was not exactly a big girl and with hard liquor in such quick succession...it would not be long before she would be drunk. But not yet, for now, she still had was mostly able to think straight. She glanced around the room and spotted Mallory sitting in the corner. She did not know her ALL that well, but the alcohol gave her a boost of confidence. She pushed herself to her feet and made her way over to the woman.
"Mele!" she offered a wide grin, "Come and join me, we are drinking!"
Ella reached her hand out to Mallory in an offer to help her to her feet.

The voice startled her, which spoke to her poor defense skills, maybe Aishe was right, she needed more practice time. She noted to herself to make more time to get to the training arena. Quick hands checked the outfit she was wearing, before smiling up, "Hello Ella. It's been a while." The light from the fire gave everything close a cheerful glow and she stood, taking the proffered hand. "A drink would be welcome, I think. But one is plenty. I am here to celebrate my sister and Akos and Zuan. I will not do anything to cause any distress or argument." She nodded and waited for where ever it was the woman was going to lead her.

Re: [ORP] Hitchin' the Vardo (it's a party, let's get drunk!)
Akos was jubilant at the arrival of more people. She took a moment to properly assess Ella before running off to greet the newest guests, Fear not M’lady! If you find yourself in the gutter, I’ll surely be right there with you! Making sure all at the table had freshly refilled glasses, Akos gave an unrestrainted whoop of delight before bounding off towards the foyer.
It took all of her restraint not to leap upon TK and Varann as they arrived. Varann she knew rather well, but TK was a moderately unknown quantity, and surprisingly Akos managed to realise that pouncing on someone not well known might not be the smartest of ideas. She did however make a mental note to ensure that the creature was more well known by the end of the night – at the very least she’d find out what his ‘drinking chops’ were made of anyway.
Hello hello! she exclaimed, clapping her hands excitedly, Varann, I’m so glad you came! Tk, it’s good to see you. Akos offered them both a smile before gesturing towards a staff member and the liquor they carried, Come in! There’s plenty of food and drink, so please have your fill and then some! She turned her head as she finally noted the arrival of her sons, wife and soon to be husband, exhaling an exaggerated finaaaaally. Akos offered a sheepish grin to her current, sort of, conversation partners before offering a temporary farewell, There’s a few people in the main hall and they’ve got a head start...see if you can catch up!
It surely must have been the alcohol – Mages knew she wasn’t usually so excitable – but she found herself once again bounding her way up to more people. She wasn’t afraid to admit that these were her very favourite people though, so with no thought at all to decorum Akos launched herself at her wife, wrapping her arms around her waist in a hug that had her leaning just a touch too heavily into her wife’s body. Woman! Where’ve ya been? She muttered before throwing a grin towards Zuan, Mr. King! Akos disentangled herself from her wife and did her best attempt at a drunken curtsy towards the man who would soon be her husband. It was only as her gaze drew upwards from the floor that she came to realise the state of their dress and realised that perhaps she’d not put quite enough effort into her own. Frowning, Akos glanced quickly around at the varying guests, noticing the general fabulousness of their outfits before looking down upon her own body. Solid knee high leather boots, some of her nicest black pants and an accompanying black vest had seemed like a practical idea at the time, but she was not so drunk that she couldn’t acknowledge the fact that her outfit was perhaps a touch too practical for what was supposed to be a royal affair. With a shrug of her shoulders and a slight huff, Akos straightened herself up to her full height and brushed her hands across her vest. Too late to do anything about it now.
A vibrant flash of blue caught her eye, and Akos turned to see a familiar crop of blonde hair appear next to Varaan and Tk. With a soft squeal that was most un-Akos-like, Akos left her wife and husband to be without warning and – yet again – bound her way over to the group Nik! You look amaaazing.

Nikola grinned as Akos bounded….yes, bounded…toward her. She had not seen her friend this happy in a long time. Of course, she had not seen her outside of their respective jobs in Privy in a long time, either, but it was good to see her so happy. As Akos spoke, Nikki could smell the liquor on her breath and chuckled as she hugged her back. ”Thank you! And you seem to have started the party early, unless I miss my guess?” she asked with one eyebrow raised in a question before dissolving into a merry chuckle.

Re: [ORP] Hitchin' the Vardo (it's a party, let's get drunk!)
TK smiled as Varann stepped out of nowhere and he tipped his head to her. "Good to see you as well Varann." He was looking about and wondering if any others were going to show. But surely the crowd would be quite good seeing as it was King Zuan's royal affair. He'd dressed appropriately he thought, but after seeing the others he wasn't sure. His clothes fit his nature though and he was good with that. TK's outfit had the simplicity of a non-noble while still being right for the occasion, the station of someone that could get things done, the functionality that would let him move about and feel comfortable. He'd heard somewhere "that to look ones best, one must be uncomfortable." He scoffed at that idea and managed to do both at the same time. He was sure his soon to be duty would require many of those same traits as this outfit.
He was about to say something else when Akos came quite suddenly over and greeted him and Varann. She was a bit over-excited in his mind, but then he remembered it was her affair too. TK nodded his head "M'Lady Akos, it is an honor to be here." The girl talked so fast he almost missed the liquor in the main hall part. He was about to head that way when he heard the commotion and turned to see the King and his party entering.
They looked different than he'd seen them ever before. They were all fancied up in their royal outfitsand looked amazing. TK genuflected and rose as the King and his party passed.
He saw something that caught his eyes and a huge smile made his face brighten. He didn't bother hiding it, he was more than happy to see the Lady come in the room. It was a sea of blue with a head of gold and eyes that held life. "Wow!" he said slowly as she entered and it was all he could manage at the time. It was but a split second and Lady Akos was back to greet Lady Nikola.
TK was looking at two ladies (for whatever reason TK had always considered Varann a female being) that needed escorting into the main hall as, (in his mind anyways, it wasn't right for a gentleman to not escort a lady into the main place of an event if he was available to do so,) that was were everyone was gravitating to and where the food and drink would be served. Finally, after catching his breath from the sight of Nikola, he managed to offer an elbow and arm to both Varann and Nikola. He looked at each a little unsure and smiled "Um, shall we go in and join the party or would you ladies prefer to just stand here and watch everyone come in?" He indicated by his question that if they preferred he'd let them remain here and he'd enter the main hall anyway.
