Monkeys, Lycan, and Ravens

Post by Varann »

Varann walked out the tree lines and came to the hilly grasslands. xie could easily spot what xie had come to fix 7 foot tall monkeys with blood red fur where not the hardest thing in the world to spot. So as xie got closer xie flattened xerself down so that xie wasnt obvious to to any observer. They may be demonic animals but they were still dangerously intelligent thus csution was best.
Xer eyes flickered between the different of Demon Monkeys. Xie hissed a little xie counted at least 6 of them including a larger darker furred Blood Monkey. That was gonna be a pain to deal with

They were gathered around what looked to be a rainbow shimmer. That was the portal xie needed to close so xie hoped TK could get here soon.

Xie move back to the tree line and took out the Liber Demonica and began to read it again

TK was en route when he stopped by Firestorm Manor to see Nikola. He thought it would be a good chance to teach her a bit about his style of fighting. She wasn't home so he left word with her steward and directions on how to get to him.

He took his time getting there. After all, the monkeys weren't going to disappear and the portal close up all by itself. He was forming a plan of attack that would keep the beasts off of Varann and let the being do its thing with the portal. As he made his way out of town he could hear the noise coming from a hollow. He changed into his Lycan form and sensed where Varann was. As he neared her he made a noise to alert Varann to his presence.

"I am here.... if we can... wait to start.. when Nikola gets here... that would.. be best."

Looks over to TK "So far only 6 have come through and they are lead by a single blood monkey. so as long as the numbers dont get to triple that we are fine to wait. I'd prefer to do it before it gets dark so regardless if Nikola manages to join us if the sun starts seting I'm gonna start the ritual," points towards where the portal is. " If you need a better look at them then be careful not to be seen. They are smart enough to set sentries. Or at least the Blood monkeys are, "

“I’m here,” Nikola announced quietly as she joined them. She had done her best to be stealthy, practicing her hunting and tracking skills on the way here. She knew next to nothing about the creatures they would be dealing with, so had not been entirely sure what to bring. She was dressed in what she considered appropriate hunting attire which meant shirt and trousers in earthen hues with soft leather boots and her hair pulled back in a single braid that hung between her shoulder blades. She wore her diamond encrusted dagger in a sheath attached to her belt along with her aquamarine encrusted sword in a scabbard centered on her back. Additionally, she carried her aquamarine encrusted compound bow and a quiver full of arrows slung over her left shoulder. She had not been sure which weapon would be the best for the job, or whether any of them would be appropriate, but she felt better having a few choices of weapons with her for such a potentially dangerous mission.

“So what is the plan, and what do you want me to do?” she asked in a low voice and waited for her orders.

TK heard Nikola before she arrived when she crunched the earth beneath her shoe. His ear pricked back in her direction as she approached. When she arrived he saw that she had come prepared for hunting in the traditional sense. She had her fire ability, and that would come in quite useful he thought. Speaking to her in low tones when she asked about the plan.. "The plan is ...to keep them away.... from the hole and... off of Varann... while XIE closes ...the portal. And to kill... all the demonic... monkeys and... anything else... that happens ...to come along."

Nikola nodded as he filled her in on the plan and wondered how to kill a demon, or a demonic monkey. Whispering softly now she was next to him, she asked, "How do we kill them and where do you want me?"

Places the book back in xer bag and draws a sketch of the hill and the surrounding area in the dirt with a pointy stick.
"Well from what I saw earlier there is six of them three are at the bottom of the hill eating.... Dont ask what.... And then there are three up at the top by the portal. The largest demon monkey the one with the black fur, is one of the three at the top.... If you can blind him or even better kill him as quickly as possible that will be a big help as the others are far more likely to panic and therefor won't be as coordinated," xie pauses for a moment and takes out xer bone dagger and places it on xer lap "Their biggest weakness is light alinged divine energies. Even the smallest of wounds seems to cripple them. So which ever of you thinks this dagger will benefit then you may borow it. Though obviously if you csn keep them at range that eould be the best. They seem to be able to use fire energy to heal so I'd avoid using any fire based magics.Niokla your bow will come in handy here as I found blinding them helps slow them down. And the forest here will be more of a hindrance to them thrn you so keep to tree line and keep moving." point to an area to the west of the hill" Start there as you'll be down wind of them and out of direct sight of the ones nearthe portal. I need the both of you to keep them away from the hill and more importantly away from me while I'm closing the portal.... Once I start I'll be totally unresponsive to what going on," Xie look at them
" given their demonic origins i shouldnt need to say this but Nikola TK do not under any circumstances make a deal with them dont even talk to them. Not matter what the offer you no matter what they say dont let them make you loose your focus. Its important ok..... Right Any questions? "

TK listened as Varann explained the weaknesses and such. As Xie was done TK let them know where he was going and would go for the black-furred one. His signal would be something they couldn't miss even if they were asleep. He headed off in the woods, silent as possible to position himself in an ambush spot so he could strike the lead monkey down with one swift attack. As he got close to being in place he noticed there was another larger beast off in the shadows. It wasn't at all like the others, it may have been a monkey of some sorts, but it was three times the size of the black haired one that Varann said was the leader. He froze in place behind a tree when he saw it. He was watching the monkey watching the others. His plan changed and he knew that this one had to be taken out first, or there would be more than a few come through the portal.

Carefully he sneaked around through the trees, always keeping an eye on the large one in the shadows. As he got into position he let out a howl that would wake the dead. It was not only loud, but it was also haunting and menacing. No sooner had it left his lungs did he jump down from the tree above the big ape. As predicted, the ape looked up when the howl was loosed. This put his neck at risk and as TK came down he latched on the throat with his jaws. This prevented the ape from screaming out too loudly, but he was still able to make a guttural sound. If the monkeys were tuned to listen, then they probably heard the noise. As TK bit down and crushed the throat of the large ape he felt something in his side. Once the downed ape stopped moving TK pulled from his side a knife and stuck it into the apes skull with a choice word about the apes life. The blade was about nine inches long and it had been buried hilt deep in his side. He ignored it and went up to the top of the hill to prepare for his next attack.

Nikola frowned in thought as Varann spelled out what needed to be done. Her power was light based, and only sometimes produced fire. If light blinded them, perhaps she could use the light energy to accomplish that. Varann mentioned her bow and she nodded her understanding and immediately began tightening the string so as to be ready.

TK went off to hunt the black furred one, so Nikola moved to get a better view of the creatures at the top near the portal. She kept her eye on the black furred one, expecting to see TK attack it at any moment. As she waited, she coaxed energy into the arrows in the quiver, directing the light to remain hidden inside the shaft until released from the bow. Once they were prepped, she nocked one to the bow and waited for TK’s attack, planning to shoot the other two once the black furred one was preoccupied.

However, she was surprised to hear a howl coming from within the woods. This was quickly followed by the sounds of a lycan striking his prey. All three creatures turned as one at the sound and she let the first arrow fly. As it left the bow, a streak of light could be seen flying toward the group and as it found its mark in the black furred one’s shoulder, light exploded from the shaft with the impact, bright enough to dispel the darkness that surrounded them. The black furred one howled in pain and anger, reaching for the shaft to pull it free. Before he could manage it, two more arrows flew toward the other two creatures. Her second arrow found its purchase in the throat of the second creature and the third missed as the creatures began to move, hitting the ground in an explosion of light without fire.
