Logo looked over notes, reports, laws and archives that stretched over 6 months. The stack of paper was enormous. Certainly the defendant was guilty of an offense. Public disorder would have been a quick decision had it been argued. The defense practically admitted it. Instead, the collection of charges and arguments were arrayed across the legal corpus like some circus game where humans threw pointed things seeing which balloon might pop.
The troll sighed at the task. It was like getting from A to D without C or B, but he dug in.
Logo knew the serious responsibility of the court to see justice done - to make whole that which was damaged. He also knew the court could be a weapon and its power should be directed carefully lest the law itself become tyranny.
Examining motivations, damages, intent and results, the judge balanced interpretations and semantics of argument and law, trying to see the perspectives presented in the case as well as those of the framers of statue. Eventually he reached a verdict that was both fair and in accordance with both written law and precedence.

Gathering the parchments, the judge entered the courtroom. Logo glowered toward the bailiff before he could start shouting. The bailiff stood nervously but quiet as the troll passed and took his seat at the bench.

"Owk'Ay everywho. Im again say appreciationses for patience.

First, izza justice require resonababble efficiency. Izza somewho what iz accuseded offa crime - what does not run or hide but submit themselveses to the authority of the court - deserve a speedy trial. Izza four monthses not speedy.
The council of Bravia is admonished to consider statutorily issues of temporal limitation and future courts the greater potential of free-form {{RP}} trials for delay.

Second, izza justice require restitution to the damaged.
The only damageded party in thissy case what had testified once long ago was Bekah who was injureded inna town militia during the temple incident. Inna interest of just restitution iz the balerion to be ordered to give a social point to the Bekah.

Third, onna legal theory of disobedience as treason:
izza disobedience to an executive order cannot be equivalent to treason. That logic would give unlimited power to an executive office that is incompatible with principles of our republic.
In similar cases, izza precedence for handling executive discipline by executive order. The council of the republic is admonished to consider codifying procedural methods of military and executive oversight and summary discipline.

Fourth, Betrayal, abuse of power has clearly defined in statute to include individual gain at public expense. The charge of Betrayal: Abuse of power is NOT proved by presentation of evidence or testimony.

Fifth, the crime of treason requires threat to the security of the viceroyalty of Bravia - either in fact or in principle.
Izza sure the balerion's action was offensive to some councilors of the republic, but that alone cannot be sufficient for guilt.
Izza no evidence presented that the balerion had intention to diminish the security of the republic, nor that his action in Widu could have or did. Waz not even logical conjecture by which such action, on its own, could have done so. In fact, the only evidence referencing the security of the republic is from testimony of the defense.
The charge of the serious crime of treason is NOT proved.

Further, we hazza been through this before. The court is not a nanny to assuage viceregal egos or assistant to herd exectutive staffs.
The council of Bravia is hereby warned: bring no more frivolous cases of treason before this court.
"

The troll smashed his spiked club against the bench again.
"So be it recorded.
By order of the court of Bravia:
A) Balerion, give one social point to Bekah.
B) Balerion, on the charge of Betrayal: Abuse of Power, you are found not guilty.
C) Balerion on the serious charge of Treason, you are found not guilty.
"

Logo stood and smashed his club/gavel one last time upon the bench,
"Thank you prosecreature Grayson for your valiant attempt and service.

Balerion, provide the clerk evidence of your payment to Bekah on your way out.
You are dismissed and free to go.

This seemingly never-ending session of court stands AJOURNED. :)
Bailiff, clear the courtroom.
