[Giovoni]

Chateau Jardin du Lumiere

Giovoni picked up the mail as usual from town and headed back to the Château. Usually there were only letters for the cook. She seemed to have family that crawled from beneath every rock and tree. He wondered if her parents were rabbits to procreate to maximum capacity.

He raised a brow when he saw the letter from the conservator of the royal estates. It informed him of a transfer of ownership. The Château was to be put in order and the new occupants would soon move in at their leisure. He smiled when he read the name Victorious Cromwell-Marlow. He was well aware of those of royal blood. The Marlow name was unfamiliar to him.

It was apparent young Victorious had married and would take over The Jardin de Lumiere. It would be nice to have a family to look after. It had been a very long time since the castle had been occupied, although he had taken care of the Château.

He gathered the servants and explained that soon there would be a family to take charge of the Chateau and salaries would still be paid through the family trust so little would change in their lives as far as he knew at this time.

Giovoni sent the maids to make ready the bed chambers freshen the curtains and linens. Explained to the cook she would probably have to answer to the Lady of the manor regarding the menu once she arrived. The cook frowned slightly as she had free hand in the kitchen for many years and was not so happy to have another’s spoon dip into her pot.

The stables would be made ready for more animals and he wanted it up to par. The grounds man was put on notice to provide roses and various flowers daily to make the young Princess feel at home.
Giovoni would take care of everything so as to not be replaced. He would make himself indispensable to this couple. He was getting too old to be looking for a new position and would not wish to be anywhere else.

Giovoni walked about the ground to insure all would be in order when the new owners of the Chateau would arrive. The rooms were clean and dust free. Fresh linens with gold trim were pressed and placed upon the beds. New curtain hung and the velvet of the finest in all the land. He touched it and felt the softness and lavishness all up to his standards. Walking to the library he looked about and saw all the new books that updated the collection were placed appropriately. He exhaled slowly with the pride of a home owner. His white glove touched each surface and all was without blemish.

As night fell upon the manor and his inspection still not complete he decided to go out and check the gardens and fields leaving the kitchen inspection for last. Madam Duchez would hate his invasion but he knew she must be dealt with. Her bold and spirited attitude would need to be handled carefully. Her rule of the kitchen with an iron cleaver may not be acceptable to the new lady of the manor unfortunately he had allowed it for many years and it had become an annoyance but he had many other duties so he ignored her insolence but now it must cease.

It was truly the garden of light in the night. The fireflies twinkled in the darkness their glow bringing a pure beauty along with the roses and various rare plants that grew and were nurtured by the grounds man. He and his crew did a splendid job keeping all magnificent and it made for an alluring back drop for lunches and evening events. He could still remember the lavish parties of days gone by and spectacular events held here. Perhaps he would sometime soon assist in the planning of a costume ball. He hoped the Lady Victorious was one to entertain. Of course that was if his services would be retained. He told the staff their jobs were secure and he believed that to be so however his job was unnecessary if this Marlow and the Lady wished to handle all themselves. Perhaps Marlow would travel and not be available or wish to undertake the tasks himself.

[Madam_Duchez]

Madam Duchez had seen Giovoni lurking about doing his white glove thing. She smiled sweetly and thought she would grab her cleaver if he came into her kitchen with that ridiculous glove.

Her cabinets were impeccably clean at all times. The kitchen help understood she put up with no foolishness or lack of attentiveness in cleaning. One had thought a year ago that he could avoid work in the kitchen and ran screaming from her cleaver. She smiled again at the memory of his eyes flashing and the quick footwork. She giggled again as she had at the time he was running thinking that was the fastest that man had ever moved.

She remembered Victorious as a child, so sweet and innocent. Once she had prepared cookies for the rosy cheeked child. It would be a pleasure to work with her. Men were a completely different cup of tea. Always thinking of food in the middle of the night moving her things and snatching desserts at the wrong time. She would train this new gent proper and with a quickness.

She sat sharpening her cleavers when Giovoni entered her kitchen. Madam looked up briefly then tossed the cleaver into a chopping board closely missing his gloved hand and began to sharpen the next one.

[Giovoni]

Giovoni moved his hand just before the cleaver found its place in the chopping board. He looked into Madam's eyes and knew this was not the time for inspection or conversation. Turning he lifted his head pridefully and headed out to insure the books were in order. There was a cascade of laughter that followed him out the door. His face redden briefly he regained his composure when the door closed safely behind him.

Giovoni had enough of the knives of that cook. She was expertly skilled as a cook and obviously skilled with the use of the knives.

A walk in the evening was what the doctor ordered to attempt to relax after the flash of that sharpened blade. He needed to make some staffing changes but would find a replacement first. If the new owners of the chateau were displeased it would be his responsibility. He walked to town and met with the cook in the tavern. This gentleman was of even temper and instructed the serving wench to bring the best ale. Giovoni sipped it slowly. The ale was so smooth it took the edge off his frazzled nerves after dodging a blade yet again.

Giovoni instructed the man that the present cook would have to be notified and that she was rather direct in her approach but he would surely be able to handle her. He coughed a little because the ale was caught in his throat. Rethinking the situation he asked the cook if he thought perhaps a guard would be needed to escort the lady to a carriage when she was retired from her position in the household. Bailey thought he had attended to many an unruly cooks in the past and he had hired and fired many that worked with him. This lady would be no challenge was his thinking.

Giovoni shook his hand and expected him in the morning to prepare the early breakfast for the house staff.

[Amladris]

Amladris was coming back from the temple .He ride with his horse into town .The evening was presenting itself slowly .Amldris look arround saluting every creature on his way .He spoted the castle and remember that his neice was on her way .He turn and head straight to the Chateau wondering if things were prepare for her neice arrival .He gets out of his horse and start walking in the garden .He spoted a couple of servant working in the garden .He walk twers them asking for the daily things they have been done lately .He heard about Giovanie and walk twers the Castle .



Amladris gets in the back looking arround before entering .He took a long pose seing thing had been change .He can smell the fresheness like the castle has been clean lately .He walks in and march in the hallway .

[Giovoni]

Giovoni was in the music room chastising a new hire. He knew she could not remain on staff but with all that was needed done the maids needed a bit more help with the dusting. He checked her work and realized she missed the lower shelf that stored the music books. He suggested she reach lower and clean properly.



She only smiled at him then the man behind him in the doorway and did her duty.


Giovoni felt as if someone was watching him turned to see Amladris behind him. His face flushed a bit crimson. Yet he went into the hall to speak with him.

[Amladris]

Amladris watch them both as they were cleaning the room .He stay there waiting his arm crosses looking at both of them .As the servant turn and smiles at him,he frows looking at them .As he see the face of Giovoni, he waits as the man aproche him .

As i can see everything is almost set up .Did you make shure that the kitchen is ready for my neice and Jace .I expect everything to be ready before there arrival.

Amladris waited for Giovoni to awnser looking tru his eyes .

[Giovoni]

He could see Lord Amladris was not exactly pleased with the maid. But there was much dusting still needed and after his many encounters with the cook he preferred a bit more amicable worker.

Before he could answer about the replacing the cook there was a bang and yelling. A large pot came hurdling down the hallway and he closed his eyes and hope Lord Amladris managed to get out of the way.

More yelling occurred and a man with a chef's hat was right behind a lady wielding a large kitchen knife.

Madam you are not the first to raise a knife to me nor do i expect you to be the last. However you may yell and toss anything you like but your position in my kitchen has come to an end.

He spoke with authority and firmly.

She could not believe she was removed from her kitchen. Her bag was packed and a guard carried it to an awaiting coach.

It was i that kept the spirit at bay. My steadfast stance against all that had happen in the past. You will soon see what you have unleased!

She walked briskly and climbed into the carriage. The horses trotted off carrying the unwilling rider to parts unknown.

This was really an embarrassing day for Giovoni. He turned to Lord Amladris with lowered eyes and spoke.

There was a slight problem in the kitchen however it is resolved now. All else is moving as scheduled, everything will be in perfect order for Lady Victorious and Master Jace. I assure you all the temporary staff will be sent their way before the Lady arrives.

He motioned toward the blond maid. After many years as head of household this was the first time he looked a buffoon before his Lord.

Amladris was looking at giovoni as he was waiting for him to speack ,the cook came out and trow something in rage .Amladris back off avoiding the object .As he was about to speack,Giovoni fire the lady and took care of it .As she is escorted by gards,Amladris had an idea .

Send her to my army barrack .Let her cook for my soldier see how she will interact with them .

Amladris turn to Giovoni looking at him he think for a moment .

I think you had enought thing happening for the day .I will not say no more on this manner .But i have a cook free and ready to work .I will send him here .He will be there tomorow .But i must tell you something .He is very special .He doesnt trow thing but he is special.

Amladris turn back and walk outside waving at Giovoni .He gets back on his horse and leave the castle .
