[ORP]The Mayor's Joint

Post by Aingeal »

Having finally really settled in to Cork, Aingeal was organizing everything around her. After living in the Town Hall for a couple months, Scarlet had found a Vardo for her in the camp on the outskirts of the town. Aingeal had taken a bit of time to get everything moved over, but finally she was done. Her birthday had come and gone as well, and Scarlet had thrown her a lovely party in the Mysts.

Aingeal hadn't seen Jacob in a long while, and she wasn't sure where anything stood between them. There was talking to be done, and talking is how you solved things. Aingeal had finally healed the rift between herself and Victorious, so that was one less stress about living in Cork.

After heading to the market to see what was there and what needed to be sent out, Aingeal headed up the steps to the Town Hall. They were in a middle of an upgrade, there were stray stones and pieces of wood littered around. "Good thing I don't live here anymore," she said with a laugh, knowing she would never get any rest with the upgrade going on. Sitting at her desk she pulled out her list of things to do.

First on the list was to make sure the market was ready for the day. She was also going to work on the field program, and then of course make her way to the tavern as was her usual.

~~A couple days later~~

Aingeal slept soundly, the sounds of nature lulling her to sleep every night. It was peaceful in the vardo, and in the camp as well. Was almost as if they were a family... it was that kind of community. Aingeal woke earlier than usual, the sky still in twilight out her window. She could see the faint glow of the rising sun, but was not enough even to cast a shadow in her vardo.

Aingeal sat up, wondering what it was that made her wake. Listening, she didn't hear so much as a whisper. Sinking back against the pillows, she sighed softly, thinking it was just her imagination playing tricks on her. Just as she started to drift again, a loud bang brought her sitting straight up in bed. The door to her vardo was open, the banging noise was the door hitting the wall. Two men stood in the doorway, and Aingeal scrambled for her weapon.. any weapon.

"Lookie the hair... it's her..." the one guy said, looking over her. Frowning at herself, her boots were near the door, far out of her reach; so no dagger. "We won't hurt you if you don't put up a fight...." the second one said, taking a step closer. Aingeal dove for the floor, reaching under her bed for her sword, but the other guy was faster. No sooner did she pull her sword the guy drug her to her feet, grabbing her wrist until she dropped the sword.

"I told you it would be easier if you cooperated..." he said... giving her a look. "What do you want..." Aingeal asked, trying to plan an escape. "Why the bounty of course," the first guy said, a grin on his face.

Bounty? Aingeal thought. The only person that could have... the Queen! On her birthday the Queen had presented her with a 'gift', and it was a wanted poster of herself. These men must be here because of that. "Surely we can come to some sort of arrangement?" Aingeal said, changing tactics. "I'm the mayor here in Cork... There has to be something I can persude you with... cash... gems... " she said, watching them carefully.

"The queen warned us you would say that, no dice!" the second one said, wrapping a length of rope around Aingeal's wrist. Only then did Aingeal try to catch them off guard, sending out a well placed kick here and there. "Let me go!" she called, the vardo still silent in sleep. She yanked at the rope, lashed out with her feet, to no avail. She only had one other choice.

"Scarlet?! Scarlet!........ Scarlet!!!!!!!!!!! " she called out, hoping her friend would hear her and look for her. The men dragged her to the jail and tossed her in... slamming the door shut behind her.
