They started the duel with full armor and without any weapon save for their own strength and wit. Now, they were two creatures cloaked in blood adorned by shattered pieces of bone armor with sand dust in the background. They were alive merely because this was a duel to severe injury and not to death. They had not killed each other because of a certain druchii.

That certain druchii was the only thing that they had in common, or at least what they both thought at the start of this duel. Other than that, they were like night and day. They clashed in every way imaginable. Mages forbid that they stayed in the same room for surely a casualty or two would be expected. To see them both leave the tavern unharmed sounded scary, for it only meant that something sinister was cooked up, if not already accomplished and waited to be finished.

Thus, to have both Teide and Grazilda in the arena would be a death wish for both.

Teide crouched on the ground, her weak hand near her chest, her knee bent to contain the pain from her injured femur, her head tilted from the impact that her horn received, her vision blurry and her lips dripped with blood from the wounded tongue. She fought and she fought hard. She closed her eyes and waited for the other to attack.

Grazilda struggled to breathe from the impact on her chest and neck. The pain on her knee intensified that she limped badly and started to lose her balance. Her hands bled and seemed scalded from the heat and friction of her strong punches. Her arms bore punctured wounds as numerous as the stars in the night sky. Her legs felt like bricks and cried in agony. But most of all, something inside her stirred. This made her groan in further rage and started to charge at the helpless Teide like a raging bull speeding through a matador.

As the human squinted her eyes and focused on the delicate parts to hit the dark elf for the final blow, her legs picked up speed, her injured knee protested at first which made her limp yet soon obeyed perhaps for the last time. The wind blew hard against her dark brown hair and the sand clothed her wounds which brought pain that reminded her that she was still alive. She was determined to finish this. And the only way that she knew to end the fight with the relentless dark elf was to send her to the after life. She would use what remained of her strength to crush the smaller Dalakoi.

An arm's length away from Teide, images from Grazilda's past suddenly flashed back in her mind. She saw herself in the very same situation, in another life, almost lifeless, weak, badly injured and waited to be killed. In her memory, her beloved friend Azrael regretfully swung his sword and beheaded her. She woke up from her swift reverie and realized for the first time what she was doing. What stirred in her earlier suddenly took over her that she quickly stretched her arms and wrapped them around Teide to protect the dark elf from further impact as they both rolled to the ground, blood, sweat, sand and all.

When the sand finally disappeared from the air, Grazilda shook her head, removed Teide's bracelets and looked at Teide. "I am NOT like Azrael!" She screamed at Teide and punched her one last time.
