Although the ground was still covered with snow, the lake was just about open for a boat to be rowed out far enough to fish. So that's what Petunia did, getting it out to not quite the middle of the lake, but to an area that she hoped would provide a good catch. She cast her net and sat quietly for a while. Only it got colder, and she noticed that the surface of the lake was starting to ice over. Time to go, she decided, and pulled up her net. Luckily, even in that time she had managed to catch three fish.

On the way home, she left two at the town hall as a donation, and put the other one up for sale.

It was the last day of fishing for Lavinia as she would be focusing on her studies in the following days and weeks. When she pulled out her net from the water, she counted three fish. Happy with the catch, she neatly folded the net as later she'd need to wash it in clean water and let it dry before she stores it.

Once she arrived at the Town Hall, Lavinia found her cousin and gave her the fish as a donation.

It was back to the lake for a day of watching the dogs catch fish. Nikola had decided that with their particular talent and enthusiasm, she would just stay out of the way. Donovan was, by far, the better catcher, but Orla caught her own fish today! That one added to Donovan's two meant there were three more fish to donate to the Town Hall.

Mallory huffed as she carried the smelly fish to the town hall. She wasn't, at all, looking forward to going back out to catch more. They stank. She couldn't recall why she had agreed to do this, and she was slightly fussing about it, something Thartis was sure to notice since her wonder of a husband had accompanied her on their travels. He was, by far, the better person for navigating trips. She wondered quietly if he'd gotten more than her, before turning in her catch and going back. Donations it was. She didn't really wish to eat them.

It was another wintry and snowy day, and Petunia was thinking that she might rather be warm and cosy in her new workshop, or even studying at the university. But still, she headed out to the lake to fish. Baiting the net as usual, she cast it into the water and watched as it sank. Then she sat quietly in the boat while she waited for the telltale tugging on the rope in her hand.

After some time, when she was starting to think that it was so cold she would need to go home, she felt something. It wasn't quite such a strong pull on the rope as previous days, but even so she pulled up the net. There were two fish caught in it. Well, that would do, she thought; it was far too cold to stay out here in the hope of catching even one more.

She rowed back to the shore and dropped off one of the fish as a donation to the town hall, putting the other up for sale. Then she hurried home to try and get warm.
