[CRP] On the matter of the Imperius Cathedral

Post by Ella »

:: Aelwick Castle ::

A bit north of Imperius, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, were the lands of the Viscountcy of Aelwick. The territory was near enough to Imperius to be convenient but far enough away to offer neutral ground for the mediation between Lady Suu Nee and Lord Wagnard on the matter of the Imperius Cathedral, or at least that is what the Overseer Ella hoped. The estate was a bit smaller, but it suited Queen Akos who held the Viscountcy. She suspected that her friend probably would have been happier with a tiny manor house instead of a modest castle, but personally, Ella thought it was nice. The Countess of Northborough arrived at the temporarily borrowed estate on a cold and blustery day, clutching her wolf fur cloak tightly around her body. The estate servants allowed her entry into the castle and showed her into a sitting room near the front of the building. Off to the side, there was a little serving table with a small spread of refreshments for the guests. There were several bottles of drink along with glasses and also a platter of cookies waiting for hungry creatures. Ella took a seat in one of the open cushioned chairs and waited for the others to arrive.

The very air within the host chamber just dropped to slightly above freezing.

With a burst of choking grey smoke, Lord Wagnard, Lich of the Empty Kingdoms, arrived.

There was no sound, nothing to betray its entrance, and as soon as the icy chill permeated the chamber... it dissipated. Lord Wagnard was not in its old rags or carpenter's aprons. No, this time it was in a white stole, robes, and all the symbolic trappings involved with the previous Temple and of Saint Kaylie. The cloth was ash streaked in some places, the symbols were somehow reversed or seemed skewed somehow, and the cap was even on backwards. A thick diamond topped staff held a large piece of stained glass window of the cathedral, and that glass was dull with red powder. The look was not mocking, but more like a statement of fact that in an ordered mind seemed disordered. Chaos, in ad infinitum.

The sunken eyes had an eerie look unlike ever seen before. They were not the pinpoints of white, but of a watery blue. The unwilted red rose on its left breast was still there, a bulwark against death and a reminder of things still living.

Her emerald green velvet cape, catching the wintry gusts fluttered, billowed, softening the austere look as she descended from the hired carriage, she turned to the driver and in a quiet voice thanked him for his service, reminded him she had no idea how long the meeting would be. He tipped his head, and helped her up the stairs to the front door which opened at her entrance.

She announced herself to the doorman, who led her to the sitting room. As soon as she entered, she stopped and curtsied. "Suu_Nee Sunspear, Duchess of Rome, to meet with Ella Winterbourne, Overseer of the Diocese of Saint Kaylia, and Lord Wagnard, Lich of the Empty Kingdoms, at your command."

"Thank you both for coming. There are some drinks and cookies if you want," the witch-hybrid gestured over to the serving table, "but please take a seat when you are ready and we can begin."

Ella paused and waited for both individuals to find a seat in the room. She pulled her cloak a bit tighter around her body, nestling in the warmth it provided. Even inside, Ella found herself chilled and forever seeking warmth. When they had both taken their seats the woman turned her attention to Wagnard.

"Now, Lord Wagnard, we are here because you revolted the Cathedral in Imperius. Can you please explain your actions and what lead you to revolt the Cathedral?"
