A Broken Heart and It's End (CRP)

Post by Amnestria »

(OOC: If you would like to join in on this RP, please message me.)

The world had grown much darker since the incident had happened. She had sent the boys to the keep just so she could have a moment to regain herself, but that in itself was hard to do. Everything had changed and become so much darker than she could have ever imagined.

Even now as she stood on the outside of the castle, her cloak pulled tightly around her, she could only see darkness. So many servants walked past her as she stood there, debating on going in. She supposed that she had been gone for so long that no one really recognized her. Then again if she were to look into a mirror, she would not recognize herself either. Her eyes were sunken in, body frail and weak, most from lack of sleep and not eating.

She bit her lower lip and turned to go leave. There is no way she could see Aishe, not this way….not like this…but…she needed her friend. Maybe to save her? Maybe to let her know that there was no way she could be returning.

Amnestria reached up and wiped the tears away, her heart had been shattered, and she deserved that after what she had done. She did not deserve to see Aishe or anyone. Perhaps she would return to her seclusion and just let nature finish it’s course.

Aishe had been sitting in her office when a strange feeling began to stir in her chest. It was a feeling of anxiety and dread. It started off small, but like an itch, it grew as she ignored it. It was heavy, almost suffocating, by the time she pushed her paperwork away and rose to her feet.

Her dress was light, made of sheer blue fabric and gold stitching. It kept her cool in the summer heat, her Bravian sense of fashion on display. It followed her movements as she abandoned her desk and headed out of her office.

It was like there was an invisible rope tied around her waist, guiding her. As she pursued the feeling, the source became clearer. It was Amnestria. The hallow ache in her heart quickened her pace. Over time, as their friendship had grown, a bond came to form between the vampire and the dragon. In all senses and purpose, Aishe was her rider. The bond was strong, backed with love and friendship. Amnestria was family. Their communication exceeded words, with a language only they understood within their very bones. It was, however, constricted to a physical proximity. Perhaps some day it would go beyond that, but for now, they needed to be close to each other.

And Amnestria was close. So much closer than she had been in months. The dragon had gone into seclusion, far away from Aishe and the rest of the world. Her absence left a hole, but the Queen respected her friend’s need for space.

As she headed into the fresh air, the feeling grew. Her chest burned. She was in a jog by the time she spotted a cloaked figure, a glimpse of red spilling beyond the hood. She slowed, feeling a bit of relief having spotted her friend. The vampire called out as she approached,

Amnestria stopped mid turn as she heard her friend call out to her. She closed her eyes and slowly turned, knowing that what Aishe would see would not be the same bright eyed dragon she once was. Her face had sunken in, and her body was practically bones. Her skin had a grey tent to it as well, and she was sure that Aishe would notice before she even took the cloak off.

She had at least attempted to look somewhat presentable. She had at the very least ran a brush through her unruly hair. She turned to the sound, smiling very faintly, almost a grimace to face her friend.

"Aishe." Her voice was harsh from months of crying and no use. What is going to think? What will she do? She is not going to be pleased. Her thoughts whirled around everything that could be said, or done. The anxiety of the unknown causing her to pull her cloak tighter, hoping she may be able to hide her look just a bit longer until safely somewhere unseen.

Carefully, Amnestria stepped closer, closing the distance between them despite the feeling of wanting to turn and run.

"I am sorry." She managed once the distance was fully closed.

When her friend turned, Aishe nearly missed a beat in her approach. Before her was the ghost of her friend. Immediate regret filled her chest. She had not realized how bad Amnestria had been doing. In respecting her wishes, Aishe now felt like she had neglected the dragon that she would die to protect.

However, Aishe did not skip a beat. Instead, she wrapped an arm around her waist and began retracing her steps back to the castle. She said little as they walked, heading straight towards the private quarters of the royals. It was a space Amnestria was very familiar with, having been the queen’s lady-in-waiting for some time now. She hoped that this familiarity would offer some comfort.

In the privacy of the familial wing, she caught a maid to request a bath to be made. They then retreated to Aishe’s bedroom. Behind closed doors, she finally released her friend. She had a lot of questions, but first, she would ensure Amnestria was relaxed.

I have missed you. She offered quietly, pouring them each a cup of wine. Offering the goblet to her friend, Aishe’s blue eyes began to wander over her features.

Amne followed in silence, leaning against her friend for support. Her travel here had been long, and it was clear that she was weaker than she once was. She appreciated the silence, and took note of the way people moved out of the way, giving them space as they walked.

Once in the castle, Amne began to relax some. It had been a long time since she had been inside, but it looked as though nothing had changed. The familiarity of the private royal chambers caused Amne to relax even further and she could feel herself slipping. She vaguely heard the orders for a bath to be drawn, and once in Aishe's room she allowed the hood of her cloak to fall back. Her skin held tight to her bones, there was very little meat left. If she were to transform into her dragon form, she would look even worse.

Absently she rubbed her arms, looking around. She was still afraid, and broken. She takes the offered wine.

"I have missed you too." She responds softly, looking down at the glass. She takes a sip of it and winces slightly. How long had it been since she had drank?

You look terrible. She said plainly. A quiet sigh followed the words and she moved forward. She sat her glass down so she could free her hands, with the intent of untying the cloak and taking it off completely. For today, I will bathe you instead. It’ll make you feel better. In the meantime...

She paused, tossing the cloak onto the back of a chair. Aishe offered a soft smile. There was plenty to discuss, but she has no intention of releasing her friend anytime soon. Amnestria may not realize it yet, but she had been abducted by the queen. She was not going to let her friend out of her sight. Beneath her calm exterior, her worry was overwhelming.

Would you like to finally meet the new little royals?

She did not wait for an answer before bounding towards her friend. Grabbing her hand, she led them out of the bedroom to the room across. Sat in the playroom was the small army of children with three nannies. It was chaos, as anyone could expect. Upon seeing Amnestria, the three eldest came over to see their “aunty Nessie”. While the boys were hugging her legs, Amelia hung back more shyly. It was evident that she did not remember Amnestria enough to approach as boldly as the princes.

In the center of the room, a large quilt was laid out. All four of the newborns were awake and laying on their backs, while a nanny was changing their nappies. Grinning, Aishe fended off the boys back to their toys while settling down on the floor next to the babies.

Us women have finally taken over the palace! May I introduce Aileanóra and her twin brother, Ambrose? And then we have Aingeal and Andreaa... Feisty little things. They are certainly living up to their namesakes.

Amne did not have time to stop Aishe before the cloak was removed. Her skin clung tightly to her bones, yes she was that close to death. Months of not eating would do that to a person. She looked fearful, the dress she wore no longer fitting her frame, and before she had time to answer she was being dragged off to another room. A small smile hits her lips as the older ones rush to her, nearly knocking her back. She hugged them all before they went off to play with their toys.

Tears start to fall down her cheeks as she looks down at the newborns. She takes a seat next to Aishe, her lower lip quivering. How long had it been since she had seen her own boys? The twins...they would be a year old...or nearly a year old. Little... She chokes slightly, letting the tears fall, tears she thought she no longer had.

"Aishe..." All she could say was that she was sorry. She was sorry for her state. She was sorry for not being here. She was sorry for the events that drove her away. She was just deeply and truly sorry. She reached out and touched each baby's hand as Aishe said their names. She knew her fingers had to be cold and thin to the little ones, but they did not seem to mind.

Quietly, Aishe watched. Her mind was empty, taking in the moment in full. Life had been hard, for both of them. In their time together, they had been through a lot - both together and separately. Amnestria had always been there for her; Aishe would always be there for her. So, when a weak apology aired, Aishe gave a quiet “tsk”.

Forgiven and forgotten. There was no reason to forgive her, in Aishe’s honest opinion, but she knew Amnestria would not accept that. So, she wore her crown for a moment to forgive her lady and then went back to being her friend, not her queen. For a moment, the room was only filled with child’s play.

I have seen yours recently. The admission was said softly. With Amnestria retreated from the world, Aishe felt responsible for the children. She kept them at their home, in familiar settings with familiar staff and routine, but she visited and was in constant contact with the staff. They have not been alone for one moment.

She hoped that would abide any guilt and regret the woman may be having.

To say the lost look in her eyes was not there would be an understatement. She glanced around at the mention of her children. "My children...it has been so long..." Amnestria looked at Aishe, what little light that had been in her eyes, slowly faded in and out. "They...they are doing well then yes?" The thought of having not seen her children only drove a deeper wedge into her already breaking heart. Why did things turn out this way? Where was Venn?

She looks away, her thoughts taking a deeper turn. Venn would never forgive her for what she had done. Once more she had broken the sacred vows between them. She had broken the vows said to others in what had been love. Amne pulls the cloak tighter around her, a few of the exposed scales falling off with ease onto the floor, but she does not notice this. "I have hurt so many...I never meant for it to happen..."

Her words seem alien to her, as though she spoke to no one and everyone at the same time.
