Blessing of the Harvest

OOC note: I was meant to post this up yesterday but got a job I'd been hoping for so forgot the date. Please use your wonderful imaginations and pretend this was on the 1st.

Feel free to notice with pride something you provided (sold or traded) to Mallory for the feast. Bring whatever items you grow or trade or even offspring for blessing. Hunted items count too!
You can also be in the band if you want! Any way you see to work yourself in please do so!
You are also welcome to have been asked by a very hyper mallory to help set up and RP doing so.
Everyone was invited and the King and Queens wanted it perfect. She was the Royal Secretary, her job was to make it so. The people would have a great day, she was sure.
Mallory and the rest of the amazing creatures had been working together to set up the area for the blessing. The harvests were coming in steadily every day and it was important that everyone celebrate those who worked hard for the people. After all, what would help a hangover better than a good sweet cup of khalua with cream when Akos had bought her one too many drinks? And who would make it without the great producers of khal. And the fruit pies, and orange juice. She smiled, there were so many things she'd learned to appreciate since being turned. Her sense of taste was certainly increased. She fluffed the giant cushions spread around the feast area. There were huge tables piled high with fresh meats, some roasted some more rare, vegetables and fruits, even the finest of creams and some fresh buns from the bakers. She'd carefully sourced each items from locals and they were going to enjoy each bite she was sure. She'd personally hunted for some of the game that had been roasted and plated. Huge cauldrons of bubbling stews were placed on tripods over the fires spread around. Carved wooden trenchers and needed eating items were spread around. She'd grabbed a few folks from the serving staff and begged them to pass drinks around ensuring no one was thirsty. She wouldn't lie, she'd spent generously from the King's treasury to ensure every creature could have a good time. If it was a drink it was here, if it was a meal that she could find it was here. She'd even gotten a few of the dark dwelling creatures to help her make items.

She glanced around at the huge dais set up nearby, it had thrones for all the needed people, and a large amount of benches for others. The sizes varied with tiny ones for the wee brownies and fae in the front, and regular human sized ones that would fit Mallory and many of the elves as well, further back were ones for giants, orcs, and those who would see more easily over the others. Near the very front were cushions for those who preferred that, and the children, of course. The drapery was orange and green and brown with leaves and other such things woven in and around items. Some of the taller or more brave creatures had helped with that, as everyone knew, Mallory was quite afraid of heights. She felt it looked wonderful and there was a huge table along the entire front so that a portion of each persons blessed harvest could be collected and donated to the temple to give to those who needed it.

Over to the far side of the area was a huge space for dancing and a local set of musicians were already practicing. Pleasing the young vampire to no end. Their music was fun. There were some game items should anyone get bored. Dice for dice master and scoring cards, eggs that had been boiled and colored for egg races, eggs that had been boiled with inks to paint them, ribbons for two legged races, even some simple balls for catch, or fetch if Edwin were here. She'd tried to think of everything. There was even a sheltered area for creatures that were not fond of the light, and a fire pit for those not fond of the cold, though she'd enclosed it to ensure no children or Mallorys fell in.

Between the wedding of her eldest and the upcoming blessing, she had spent the week in Attica. She did her work as Countess, visiting the towns within her territory. She wore her crown every day, with more casual although finely made clothing, as she did her rounds. She collected taxes and harvests, giving her royal blessing onto the locals and inviting them all to the royal blessing the following week. She understood many of the hardworking people of Attica would not be able to attend, which is why she made a point to visit them prior to the royal event. She juggled many things in Fenia and as such, her residence in the county was infrequent. She managed the county from the palace most of the time, with her loyal steward living on site for the day to day. It was important to her that not only was she continuing the betterment of her territory, the creatures felt her appreciation and love.

With Halloween, she returned to the palace. She attended a local party in costume, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and then spent the evening with her spouses. Come morning, she got up early to take care of a few duties before getting ready for the royal blessing. She took a long bath, enjoy the only moment of silence she would get for the day. Unlike a lot of cultures, the Romany were keen on bathing and believed in general cleanliness. Baths offered her peace and relaxation - she did not understand how some creatures did not find the same solace in hot water.

The gown she had chosen for the event was almost completely gold, with black inlay to create depth and pattern. The boudice was form fitting, with a structured collar and a plunge in the neckline. A necklace of peals, with chunky gold adornments, matched the earrings poking out between stray locks of hair. She brushed out her long, blonde hair, before taking sections to braid and tie off. What seemed random in design was accompanied with hairpins, jewels, and golden chains, giving the style an air of elegance. A petite crown of gold with white flowers and pearls sat atop her pale locks. Her wedding rings were joined with a large turquoise ring on her right thumb and a smaller black onyx on her left index finger. The look was complete by black slippers with fine gold threading and pearls around the top.

Satisfied with her appearance, the queen left her private chambers. She made her way through the palace and outside, embracing the cool autumn air. She waved over at to her sister, approaching while blue eyes wandered the setup.

"I think you have outdone yourself this time!"

Eight days.

It had been a strange last eight days since Aileigh and Thea said their vows. She had not really left Redcroft Manor since the wedding, adjusting to the new life she had chose. She took over the bedroom she had gotten ready in for the wedding, with her belongings filling the space and closet. She spent her mornings with Zevander, trying to bond with the fussy baby. Things seemed to be going well on that front, which was more than she could say with her wife. It was not that they were already having marital problems, but the fact they were simply strangers trying to get to know each other. She did not want to push Thea into socializing with her. She took afternoon walks every day, rain or shine, and began to fight the rising morning sickness. All in all, Aileigh did feel like things were going well.

She was excited for the royal blessing ceremony. As promised, she made no attempt to force Thea to attend. In fact, she did one better and decided to take her young stepson to the event with her. She wanted him to grow up close to the other littles in the family, most of whom where her half-siblings. She hoped her wife would enjoy the silence of the manor with them gone for a few hours.

Her outfit of choice was a bit unusual for Fenian style. The dress was more of a mix between Bravian and Romany, designed specifically for her by the more experimental weaver she preferred to use. She had yet to wear the gown, but the flowers and subtle colours felt fitting for an autumn event... Especially seeing as come spring, she would be heavily pregnant and the gown would not fit. Eager to show off the unique design, she braided her raven locks with stands of matching ribbons and live roses, picked from the Redcroft garden. Naturally warm-blooded, she forgone shoes, knowing that winter was coming and her feet would soon be imprisoned for months. A necklace of gold and emeralds sat on her chest, with small emerald earrings on her ears. She wore the bracelet Mallory had given her for the wedding around her ankle, enjoying the sound of bells as she walked.

She dressed Zevander warmly in grey and gold and bundled him up onto a fur-lined blanket that ought to keep any stray breeze from chilling the babe. The damphyr bid her wife goodbye before climbing into the waiting carriage with the nursemaid. The ride to the palace was short, which was a benefit to Redcroft's placement. She was only ever a short distance from her family. Upon arrival, the young woman left the carriage with Zevander in her arms, and navigated the familiar lawn. She went around the side of the looming castle, enjoying the grass between her toes. Bright eyes landed on the arranged area, smile splitting across her lips.

"Oh my, Zev, what fun we are going to have!"

Looks down at Edwin who has this hopeful look to him and sighs "Fine I guess as I'm dropping of some of my hunt we can stay for a bit but if you cause just one bit of trouble we are coming straight back home got it?"
she looks over and Despair comes over making quite clear that he was coming to "Fine fine..... you can help me carry the bear. That one is heavy" She look him up and down "Hummm let's see you'll need something to wear something neat not too fancy though....ahh yes got" she concentrates while holding Despairs trinket and a simple cotton shirt and trousers appers both match the deep purple almost black clothing Aelan usually wears. Aelan did remember to add a space for his tail though "What do you think too simple?"
He holds up his clawed hand and point to the wedding finger "Oh yes sorry we do need at least them to match dont we" with that a simple platinum band appears matching the one on Aelan's hand. Despair kneels and Aelan slips it onto his finger "There we got we are as ready as we'll ever be."
Edwin for once fully manifests and walks by Aelan's side as she takes one end of the pole and lifts it Despair took the other end and between them they lifted the Bear and headed towards the blessing

1st Novemeber. The end of one season and the beginning of another, but it was not simply this fact which made it worthwhile of celebration. Rather it was the end of the Fenian harvest, and that all the fields had been harvested, the animals culled, and the meats, fruits, crops, and berries stored ready for the long Fenian winter. Fenian winters were long, cold, and often brought most agriculture in the kingdom to a stop, and thus it was on this day the Kingdom would celebrate the work of the entire Kingdom, from the farmers and ranchers who produced the foods, to the market stalls which sold them, to the guards which protected the towns and kept the peace to the nobility whose finances maintained that local order and peace. It was an ecosystem in of itself, and it was something the Kingdom and culture of Fenia sought to celebrate, and thus all were welcome at this most bountiful of celebrations.

To enjoy the fruits of the Kingdom’s labours and to do so together as one Kingdom and as one people. The event was being crafted and led by the Royal Secretary, Mallory, and the King had complete faith that she would be able to execute the event to the high standards she had for such important annual events.

The King had decided to wear an outfit to reflect the season and the purpose of the event, and so left his chambers early in the day, knowing the festivities would soon start. He wore his usual black leather boots and breeches crafted of black leather coated with a burnt orange weave wool, to provide some warmth to counteract the cold which was beginning to drift into the Kingdom as the winter approached. His doublet was made of burnt orange velvet interwoven with black silk thread which danced through the outfit and circled around a selection of black pearls which were embroidered into the doublet. The collar of the doublet was higher than his summer doublets, again to provide some protection from the cold. Over his right shoulder sat a black half-cape, which upon it had the royal coat of arms stitched into the fabric. At his waist was his sword, which at this point was entirely for ceremonial purposes.

It did not take him long to descend the various staircases of the castle and navigate the hallways toward to outdoor area which had been selected by Mallory to hold the event. Making his way down the steps he saw that his wife, Aishe, had beaten him to the event and appeared to be congratulating Mallory on the appearance of the whole event. Even he mad to admit she had outdone herself, the variety of foods on display was quite magnificent, and the tables would no doubt soon groan under the weight of fresh dishes, wines and juices for the people to enjoy. Smiling at the duo, he made his way towards them, before bowing and offering his greetings.
”My lady.” He bowed to Mallory. ”My Queen.” He said with a bow to Aishe. ”I must say, this appears like it will be quite the event, hopefully our celebration here will warm the hearts and cheer the spirits through this coming winter of ours.”

Aelan quietly entered with Despair and managed after some time to actually catch one of the servants ....some what literally catch as many seemed to be nervous around the pair and were giving them a wide berth.
The one they did catch directed them to where they could bring the offerings both the ones cooked and raw then quickly scurried away.
Sighing for a moment her shoulders slump but she then tries to make light of it and sounding lighter then her heart felt she asked Despair "Who do you think was scaring them more me or you?" not really waiting for an answer she began to circulate through the room. Edwin whined not liking seeing Aelan sad.

Every time he heard Aelan make light of such things his heart would break a little. He went to reach out to her to tell her that it was ok but she had already turned to circulate and he had to act his part of a respectful servant.
Hearing Edwin whine he bent down and stroked him "All we can do is keep her safe and be her family."

Edwin gave him a quick lick and they both followed Aelan. one at her heal the other two steps behind.

Duke pads on into the area with his entourage in tow. They first go to greet the King and Queens with a bow: Sofie presenting a Barrel of Fire Whiskey the group has brought with them as a gift for the occasion.

She turned with a grin when she heard her phei's voice. "I wanted something everyone could be proud of. The people of Fenia have done amazingly this year, and with all the difficulties that have stricken us. That coughing sickness in the early spring caused a great deal of labour to be lost in the fields, and yet look. They've brought in a great deal for everyone to share." she was nearly bouncing on her toes as she crossed to where her sister stood.

She dipped into a curtsy with a smile, "Enjoy my Queen, the people await." She waved a hand beyond her to where many of the people waited near barrels, baskets, carts, even armloads of items. She rose, just in time to need to dip into another curtsy, "Greetings, my King. I did have high hopes, and plenty of spirits." she spoke with a grin as the ever impressive Duke and his troupe arrived presenting a barrel. "Welcome." she offered as a greeting. She waved over one of the men who were arranging such things and smiled, nodding softly as she stepped away from the Royals. They would need time and space to speak to those who were ready to introduce themselves and do greetings. Once she was out of most folks view she gestured to the very comfortable chairs for the Royals at the table just before the dais. She'd placed a regular table for them to sit and talk at, if they wished, leaving the thrones for the fancy bits. She caught sight of Aelan and made her way towards that party.

"Aelan!" the short woman lifted a hand and rose up on her toes trying to catch their attention, but a pair of men carrying a large table passed between her and them drawing an exasperated sigh from her. She was trying to wait patiently but then it dawned on her, "Edwin!" she called and let loose a sharp, sudden whistle that should catch the ghostly pup's attention. If Edwin tried to come her way surely Aelan would notice. Sometimes Mele feared her voice would not be heard over the hubub around setting events such as this up caused. She heard a slight twittering from off to her side and saw a couple of the girls who normally served drinks giggling as they loaded their trays. She shook her head and gathered the skirt to her pumpkin orange saree with the pretty golden embroidery and darted around the table.

Aelan had drifted around listening to conversations as she went.
When hearing some one call her name she tense and looked around though she was unable too see the person. She frowned but then realised whose voice it was just as Mallory called for Edwin. She could tell he wanted to go but his wriggling in one spot let her know he was desperately trying to behave and not run off. Her eyes glanced up to Despair. He had fully manifested and it was nice that him and Mallory would finally be able to meet ....in the flesh so to speak.
"Go with him and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble. I'll follow in a minute." she didnt need to tell him that there was a spirit wanting her attention. They had been together for long enough that some things just didnt need putting into words. She smiled at him and after looking around to make sure no one was looking she gave him a discreet kiss on the cheek before looking down at Edwin "Just remember my friends that people can see you fully now. So no trying to go through them, go around if they are in your way espcially you Edwin."
With that Edwin yaps happily and bounds off to find Mallory.
