"Aye," Tummson nodded in agreement with his son. "Sealed her up, nice n' tight. With strong stone and stronger magics. Herelda fix it up nice good."

"Herelda?!? Who is she and what in the name of Zuan the Gracious, Zuaaan the Benevolent, ZUAAAAN the DEEVINE--" this time it was Bhenithius who cut her off..

"Please, Minister... you're not helping the situation," he muttered and looked to these Moggins.

"Friends. I have little desire for this fortress, I can assure you all of that. I've spent the whole of the past year surrounded by evil things, and have no intention to live in a necromancer's keep. But I must side with the Minister. If it is her duty to audit and send the contents of Möglen Dõr back to the capital, then it must be done. We'll re-seal it, heck.. we can destroy it if that is what the people of the Mogwire truly wish. Only after the Minister has done what she's come to do.."

"Well, that's the problem. Ye ain't going to get that seal broken with just a hammer and the desire. You'll be needin a witch. And a powerful witch at that. I reckon Herelda could do it. Heck, she be the one that done the magics in the first place, but she ain't in the Mogwire right now. Gone up to Northmarch to collect Frostmoss before the winter snows bury em all till next year spring."

Be sniffed fiercely in thought and horked a glob of phlegm to the side. "Ye can wait if ye like. Won't be more than a fortnight I expect."

"If ye plan to stay, ye can take up house at East Ridge Tör. Ain't much more than a five storey stone tower, but it'll be safer than lodging at Lords Cresent. We can escort ye on the morrow. Be gettin dark soon. Best not risk the dangers o' the Mog tonight.." He kicked his thumb and shot it in the direction of the wooden palisade behind him and reluctantly offered, "Ye can stay under our roof this night, if ye wish. It be warm and ye'll be fed, though I doubt it'll be to the standards of a noble Baron.."

"How gracious of you, sir" Bhenithius replied with a kind smile. The Minister was clearly unhappy with the prospect, but was there truly a better way to get to know these people than by spending a night under their very own roof?

Quayle led the way towards the gate of Mog's Maw, with Bhenithius and the other following.... some reluctantly. Within the wooden palisade the outpost of Mog's Maw appeared to be a ramshackle collection of wooden homes and outbuildings, pact snugly within an area not much large than a town market. Normally, as told by the apparent leader of these rangers, there were nearly twenty of them that called this place home most of the year. Men, women, children and animals all. Every winter though, the majority of them would pack up and relocate with their herds to the warmth of the Mogwood forest, where geological activity beneath the ground kept the region somewhat comfortable during the coldest months. As it happened, only these three Moggins remained here.

Inside the largest of the buildings, the air was warm and moist, a large fire crackled and burned at the central hearth, the grey smoke spiralling upwards towards a small hole in the conical roof of thatched grasses and mossy earth. Aside it, a cast iron cauldron, large and fat and filled with an aromatic stew of sorts bubbled and simmered. The smell was instantly agreeable to Bhen's rumbling stomach.

Looking around, Bhenithius noticed the walls and the many different furs and skins nailed up, some of which he could pick out from which animals they came; deer, bear, fox, catamount, wolf and others, but here and there Bhen would spot one so exotic that he had not the slightest clue as to what it had been in life....

"Hhhhwhaat... is thaat?!!!" Minister Magleen Hoddlekopps squawked in her shrill, nasal voice as she gaped at the mounted head of some dreadfully hideous creature on the east facing wall. It's skin was dry and preserved, but mottled and discolored. It's empty eye sockets peered sightlessly at them all, it's mouth twisted into a frozen snarl that revealed two long tusk-like teeth.

She backed a few steps, placing her hand on something furry and matted. She looked and lifted the wad of fur up and questioned an aghast manner, "Hhhhwhaat.. is this?!!!" Then her nose and the smells she was breathing in hit her, "Aaannd hhhhwhaat is that steeench?!!!"

Quayle winced his eyes as the woman's nagging voice filled the room with it's nagging tones. He wondered for a moment if her would still sound so haughty if she were buried under 8 foot of dirt, but it was a momentary fancy and he shook his head to glance at the east wall. "That.. is the head o' a Mountain Troll, madam. Ain't get no more o' them round here no more, an the Mog be better fer it. Dirty things trolls be. Dangerous too. Used to be they'd come down from thar mountains an be stealin women and wee ones, or eaten livestock. All before me time, though. Me grandpah's grandmah's cousin's uncle got thar one dar. A family hair loom, ye might call it."

He then saw what she held in her hand and snatched it away angrily, "This.. be me dirty loin clout... now hands off!" He grumbled and tucked it inside his shirt, hating it when strangers touched his things.

Finally, he addressed her complaint on some stench, "Smell??" he inhaled deeply, but couldn't smell a thing amiss. "Mighty be me clout, might be the stew, hard to say really." He hoped that would be the end to her questions.

A tower of wooden bowls stood on the harvest table near the central hearth. Quayle took the one from the top and scooped a portion of stew out, and slapped it on the table. "Here, eat," he gruffed before filling two more bowls for the three guests.
