[RP] Katie's Baptism

Post by Gawain »

After making the long journey from his home in Paz, Deacon Gawain arrives at the Cathedral of Widu. Beautiful stone pillars held the doors that led inside, a few peasants exited past him as he entered it. His footsteps echoed in the interior breaking the silence that surrounds him.

An acolyte walks up to Gawain and he greets him, the acolyte bows his head slightly. Gawain then requests a messenger so that he may contact Katie. A short time later when a messenger arrives, Gawain hands him the letter.

Greetings Katie,

I am ready to begin with your Baptism, you are welcome to invite friends and family to witness it. Please come when you are able to, I shall await you at Widu Cathedral.

Signed,

Gawain
Deacon of Paz
Gawain tells the messenger whom to give it to and watch as the page leaves. Whilst he is waiting for Katie and any guests to arrive, Gawain prepares things ready for the ceremony.

Orion arrives at the cathedral of Widu to be a witness of the baptism of his very dear friend Katie Sunspear.

As he did not want to be late - he tried to arrive as early as possible and seems was the first to arrive. That was actually not bad and he even had some time to look around and observe the preparation process.

Arriving in Widu, Willow finds her hotel (after leaving her horse in the stables nearby) and freshes up in her room (before heading to the Cathedral for Katie's Baptism).

She is dressed in her Priestess Robes. Before leaving her room, she picks up a few things that are special to her and places them safely in her robes. Checking her reflection, she then locks her room and wanders outside and heads towards the Cathedral.

She thinks to herself, its a beautiful day for a walk. Willow is impressed with her first sight of the Cathedral - its very beautiful. Walking through the doors, she is greeted by the acolyte who takes her to seat near the front. Willow waves and smiles at Gawain (knowing that he knew she would help if required). After Acolyte leaves her, Willow kneels in pray.

Tuv was glad to see his sister in law was going to be baptized. He was also glad that his cousin Gawain was doing the service. After having spent a good deal of the morning in the woods, Tuv entered the chapel hoping Wyllow was already here and wood forgive him the dust on his clothes.

After receiving Deacon Gawain's missive, she read the letter pertaining to the Baptismal Service and paid the messenger for his service.

Katie arrived early on this important occasion, but as a deaconess, she always came early.....

She was very excited for this moment to arrive and wanted it to feel right. Having special guests would be the answer to making her Baptismal Service complete. She had taken Deacon Gawain's advice and eagerly invited friends and family to her special day at the Cathedral. Those who could attend were going to be her witnesses.

As Katie scurried to the Widu Cathedral wearing her off-white, Sunday best, she smiled happily as she noted the beautiful Garland decorations on each of the massive front doors. She wondered who may have added the inviting touch to the Cathedral? Perhaps she would find out soon. It pleased her as she entered the Vestibule and found Monk John George wearing his usual solemn demeanor; nevertheless, she beamed with excitement. Reaching in her string purse, she pulled out a small white flower and gave it to him.

********************

The pages were standing in formation, opening the doors of the Sanctuary for all who entered. She stood there for a moment and grinned at each one of them for she knew them. She then entered the Sanctuary and was stunned to see the altar had also been decorated with lush greenery and little white flowers, identical to the front doors. But what really impacted her emotions most was seeing her friends already seated in the pews. It Fortified her confidence as she scanned the Sanctuary knowing this was going to be one of the most special days of her life!

She advanced down the right aisle to the altar where she quietly greeted a pretty lady (Katie noted she was a priestess due to the priestly robe she had donned.) and knelt beside the priestess in silent meditation. After thanking the Mages and Spirits for this day, she recalled Deacon Gawain's discussions on the meaning of being baptized. She felt at peace knowing this was her calling and her destiny in life with her light alignment. She mused, "I am going to be baptized today and I will shine so help me, Mages and Spirits. Amen."

Poking her head around the door, to the disapproval of a nearby page, Aida smiles and hoping she isn't late scuttles in wearing a deep blue dress, slightly mudmarked at her quick hippogiff flight over from Fenia City. Under her arm, she carries a small parcel. She had dressed Oona the donkey in her dress and put a large flowery hat on her, to sit in the mayors office, and was sure no-one would be able to tell the difference. Smiling, she takes a seat near where the two women are in silent meditation and looks around Widu's beautiful temple, appreciating its grandeur for a moment and taking some notes on the flower arrangments. She would have to do something similar in the cathedral hospital... cheer the residents up. Lost in her thoughts, she waits for the ceremony to begin, her parcel on her lap.

Royce enters into the Cathedral just after Aida. He spied Katie Wearing an off white dress. He walks up to the front and took his seat in the front pew. Katie looked so gorgeous in her Sunday best and he smiled to let her know that he was thinking of her.

Technically Alder wasn't religious. There was only reality and not to him. Whatever lay in the unknown was not worth considering until it decided which category it wanted to fall into. However, he had gotten the impression that this was important to his cousin... and hell, it was free food in return for maybe an hour of his time. He could afford to give that to save the hassle of being asked why he wasn't around later. Mages were real, but all of this stuff about spirits and morality was just stuff that was sort of semi real.

So he took a seat near the back of the Cathedral and gazed at the alter, seemingly attentively while in actuality his mind was elsewhere, amongst gears, cogs, wires and other contraptions, while flitting every so often to coins, beetles and duels. Hopefully if something important happened, somebody else would take care of it.

Duke is carried into to temple by little Karina who finds a seat beside Aida to watch Katie become a Mucazian.
Duke is glad Katie is doing well in her new life, though he does sometimes miss the tiny winged version of her.
Karina seems a mite disinterested, eyes sometimes glazing similar to Alder's, but that could just as readily be her talking with Duke about what is going on, as otherwise.
At an opportune moment Karina waves a hello to Khati and lifts duke up to grab his right paw and vigorously wave it too, causing a mildy annoyed sigh to escape his nostrils as Khatie presumably can still 'hear' him say hello.
