[ORP] Rising Legion

Post by DarkSpeaker »

Just outside the Imperius graveyard, a black robed figure walks, 9 humanoid silhouettes trail behind it, hooded and dark, brandishing longswords and shields, faint skull like patterns reflect the moonlight on the shields. The Figure digs up a grave and pulls up the body, drawing a circle around it and chanting from the book, the corpse, moves and stands, walking off, the figure moves on to the next grave. The mist grows thick and cold, echoing screams of torture and agony can be heard throughout the night.
The end of all worlds draws near.

He walks to the middle of an open area of Imperius, 10 darkly cloaked and armed beings trail behind, the figures are chanting something lowly. He stands on a raised stone and begins shouting to the people and travelers with a harsh, crackling voice.
"This world is at an end, all hope is lost, submit to the destruction, and let the darkness consume you!
For far too long, you have sat idle, content on your own stocks, while we have risen, and now, the shadow of death is at your doorstep!
We shall raze your villages, town, cities, your very Kingdom, all that oppose us shall be cut low, buried in the blood and ash of their homes and loved ones!
Our dark lord has arisen, he commands the legions of oblivion, wielding great power, he shall crush you all under heel!
So tremble now, as the final darkness falls, the only thing that awaits you all is Death!
For in the end, All shall serve the one, True, King!"

With his final words, he looks at those that gathered near, before walking off, his guards following close behind.

Having returned from a long visit in her Homeland, Marion returned to chaos. Chaos and strangers, and a much busier land than she had left. The season had changed, becoming colder in the night. But Marion's skin soaked up the cool air, and she barely felt it. Her cold heart kept her warm against the weather. She preferred coming into town at night; she could avoid the crowd, the looks, and most of all, the suspicions against her.

Speaking of suspicions, Marion sunk into the shadows and looked out at the eery view. Her ice colored eyes flashed in the darkness - already adjusted. She was seeing exactly what she thought it was. Before any words were spoken, she sucked in a sharp breath and bared her pointed teeth, and slowly slid out her daggers, laced with a poison known only to her Homeland, and watched. When the group approached, she stepped from the shadows, and revealed herself in the flicker of street lamps - dimmed by the length of night. Her skin was the color of shadow, and has hard as stone. Her hair was as white as the snows expected to be seen soon, her eyes were strangely illuminated. On her body was the amour of her people, though rarely granted to Witch Elves, she was the exception. The arms were jagged and blades protruded from them, as well as the shoulders, facing out. It allowed her to deliver cruel and final blows to foes. The rest of her body had pieces of armor around her, with sharp edges, crafted for her body, and it allowed her to move fluidly.

"True King?" Her sharp dark lips curled into a smirk, and snorted. "I have ONE true King, and this being looks nothing like him. "

He laughs with a deep, cold, echoing voice, slightly muffled by wrappings, his red eyes pierce the darkness. His long ashen black robe is tattered and gives off the faint smell of mold and decay, his staff is made of a fine black metal that absorbs the light, the book is bound in dark leather with silver runes etched into it, The dagger looks to be made of normal steel, with a leather wrapped handle.
"Your king is nothing, and he too shall serve, for in the final hours of your lives, all shall serve. I am the herald of the end, the voice of destruction, and I will spread my king's voice to all the land, there is no hope for you mortals, you will all be consumed"

The guards are armored, wrapped in a similar cloth to the figure, their eyes glow a cold blue, the swords are dark, as if charred, the shields have an emblem of a skull resting on a gauntlet, crossed sword and an axe an an outline shield. All the guards have striking similarities, looking like almost like clones, same height, armor and even the wrappings are the same. An echoing chant seems to resonate from them. "We are one, We are many"

Marion scoffed. It was slight a laugh, but seemed forced. As if she didn't have the time nor patience to give him the right of a laugh.

"There's your first mistake," Marion said, almost lazily as she whirled around her dagger in her fingers, eyeing it softly and refusing to move from his pathway. "You assume we are all mortals." her thick lips twitched up, a sneer on her mouth, yet her elven eyes seemed bored, and dulled even more when the army chanted. She waved her other hand in the air, as if waving them off.

"Of course you are. But how many? Many enough to take on the force of the entire town?"

He continues to laugh, the echoing in the night seems to fade, even the insects go mute, the air grows colder and colder.
"Know that even gods can be slain."
His words echo, as he dissipates into a cloud of black haze, reforming 50 meters behind her, down the path. A trail of frozen earth has formed between his two positions, under her feet, the grass and shrubs have withered and blackened, dead insects litter the trail. The lamps burn out without a sound.

The guards look at her, without expression, echoing their chant, and a thousand eyes open from every shadow, piercing azure orbs.
"We are one, we are many."

Ten more guards step from the shadows to follow the figure, the original guards step back and meld into the darkness, before the glow of their eyes are snuffed out, the other orbs fade from sight, leaving her in the empty silence of the shadows.

"We will meet again"
The end of all worlds draws near.

She didn't like to be put aside so easily. She wasn't put off by the vanishing, nor the trail of ice. In fact, she could play the magic game just as well, if not better. If anything, it intrigued her. Death around her barely scathed her, and the darkness only invited her like a warm embrace in the night. The laughter, the echos, the watchful orbs and the looming guards created a sort of smirk on her face. She clicked her tongue and examined her razor sharp nails,

"I always knew death was a coward. But I've never seen it run."

He continues down the path, but echos his final words.
"I am merely the Harbinger, the messenger of death, my King nears, and his hunger is terrible."

With that he vanishes into the night, silent, the presence is gone.
The end of all worlds draws near.
