[ORP]The Confident Who

Post by Beatrice »

There are all types of cat personalities. The friendly cat, the shy cat, the fearful cat and the standoffish cat. Then there is the confident who. This is the cat who knows who they are, where they belong and what they like to do. This is Beatrice. She walks with her white plumy tail aloft, her ears forward and her stride confident. This is how she entered Imperious. Nobody knows where she came from, she just strode into town one day and decided to stay. She has even managed to find herself a few favourite spots where she likes to be when she is observing or napping. One spot is on a fence near a barn that manages to catch the afternoon sun. She can perch there for hours with all of her paws tucked neatly under her body and her tail hanging down. She may appear to be sleeping but every now and then the twitch of her ears will give away the fact that she listening to the sounds around her. Later as the sun starts to go down she will rise up from her perch, bottom first as if some invisible hand is lifting her, then she will yawn, showing off pristine needle sharp teeth. A quick lick here and there to make sure that her fur is in perfect order and then a long languorous stretch, tail high, bottom up and front paws outstretched as if she is paying homage to the sun. The stretch ends with a quick sharpen of her claws and then a precise leap from the fence to the ground. It is time for her to start her evening patrol around the town to see who she might meet.

The day had been a long one, full of piles of parchments, a handful of research, and even some loose cows. How cows ended up INSIDE the Imperian Palace was anyone's guess... Although, Aishe fully believed either her pregnant wife or their notoriously mischief teenage sons were behind the incident. Needless to say, the cows were all safely stabled and no important tapestries were lost. It came to no surprise that after all of that manure, she needed fresh air and decided to take the opportunity to go check on her family home in Imperius. A large portion of the Boreens Durri Roma lived at this small manor house just outside of the city, when they were not tending to their noble holdings. She was curious who she would find there on this particular evening.

The Fenian Queen took the long-about way to the home. The fresh air was very refreshing to her overly sensitive nostrils. The breeze that pulled at her loose locks brought scents of bread and berries from a nearby bakery, providing an extra satisfying aroma to her stroll. She may not need food right now, as her womb lay empty, but she was a woman who grew up human. The vampire still enjoyed the scents and even in the right mood, the occasional snack that provided zero nutritional benefit for her. It was.. Habit, she supposed. The smell of bread and berries put a smile on her lips, which only grew when her bright eyes fell onto a white, majestic beast.

Oh, anyone who knew Aishe knew that she outright adored cats and would own a whole army of them if it would benefit Fenia (aka if her husband would let her). Amnestria and her had successfully snuck in several cats into the royal palace without her husband's notice by strategically placing them in different wings. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time until he noticed, but that certainly did not mean she would stop. He enjoyed her free spiritedness, right? Clearly he did, otherwise he would not have married neither her nor Akos. (Or so was her reasoning.)

Wondering if this white fluff would make a good addition to her precious hunters, she proceeded forward slowly at first to better judge the temperament of the cat. It was, in particular, a stunning creature that resembled much like her Chester - a Turkish van she got when she moved to Bravia years ago. He was her first companion when she settled down in a town that stole her heart, and in this moment, her heart was being stolen by the mismatched eyed beauty. She knelt down, pushing her multihued blue skirts out of the way to prevent her from tripping when she stood back up. Aishe extended her hand, likely looking like a lunatic as she gave a few slow blinks towards the cat. Anyone who knew cats knew that "kitty kisses" promoted the idea of trust... And Aishe knew cats.

Hello, beautiful. Now where did you come from?

Beatrice sits down and watches the person come close. She is not afraid but she is prepared to run just in case, you can't be too careful after all. Her ears prick forwards and her nose twitches as she scents the human, no, that's not right, there is a not quite human scent about this one. Like any cat, she is wary but also curious, so she stands up and holds her tail aloft. Cats can speak volume just with their tails and right now Beatrice is saying that she is interested and curious. Meeting the gaze of the 'other' she stares wide eyed at the slow blink. She doesn't blink at first and rather just watches for a while before returning the gesture. Even more curious for her to find a non cat who can speak cat.

It uses mouth sounds too which she doesn't understand but she does get the tone of the sounds. They seem warm and friendly to her. Being a confident cat, Bea closes the gap between them and slides her body against any part she can get close to. A low rumble moves through her body as she starts to purr. 'Hello!' - she is saying as best she can. 'What are you and can we be friends?' She is sinuous with her movements as graceful as only cats can be. She likes to meet others but it is best when they are like this one who knows the right body gestures to speak. Bea loops herself around this other more than once trying to solicit something that only these creatures know how to do; the head rub. It is even better if they can do the chin tickle as well but experience has taught Bea that this is sometimes something a cat has to be very patient to teach them to do well.

For a first meeting, if her purrs and body scent exchanges manage to earn her a head rub she will be well pleased with her day. She is rather glad that she spent an extra long time earlier today to make sure her fur is pristine. It would be far too embarrassing to make a new friend with messy fur.

Luna was never really far from the Ella's side, even if she did not always make her presence known. She often quietly slinked along after her somewhat crazy person. The with-kitsune-hybrid was often known for getting herself into trouble, after all. Today Ella had wandered of to Imperius. Something about a squirrel and a monkey that needed to be given to someone. Luna flicked her tail with a slight annoyance, she did not understand why Ella would not let her chase the squirrel...she was a cat after all.

As she was walking padding through the town, Luna noticed a cat she had not seen before. A very regal looking kitty. The cat seemed to be engaged with the humanoid — a vampire as Luna recalled. She moved closer, half-stealthed by her own black cat. The other cat might run at the sight of an unfamiliar feline.

It was difficult to contain her excitement as she got the cat's attention. Grinning widely, she maintained her crouched position with an extended hand with the occasionally, reassuring slow-blink. She knew that if she moved too suddenly, it would likely startle the creature away. So, still as a statue she stayed, only shifting when Beatrice began to rub along her skirts. The rumble of a purr reached her sensitive ears well before a human would have noticed, telling her she was being accepted - however slowly the process of acceptance would be.

This encouraged Aishe to gently stroke along the back of Beatrice, relishing the soft coat beneath her fingertips. With the circling back of the cat, slender fingers caught the top of her head. Should Beatrice not shy away, those fingers then would begin to affectionately scratch between and around the ears, and just perhaps descend down to the sides of her mouth and chin. Having own cats most her life, she had mastered the best ways to pet a cat long ago.

Now, where did you come from...

Her question was repeated quietly, bright eyes searching over the cat before looking around. With the beauty so close now, she would be able to confirm if no such ribbon or evidence of ownership was hidden beneath the tuffs of fluff. Because, if Beatrice was indeed homeless, she had plenty of space in the royal castle and no cat deserved to be unloved. Her curiousity was fully peaked and perhaps like an insane woman, she continued aloud,

Do you understand me, kitty?

One could never be too sure of who they were interacting with. Fenia was home to two noble cats, both of whom were more than a simple house cat in many ways. Kiene was once ruled by a god stuck within a cat body! It made a girl wonder if the being beneath her fingertips was indeed an ordinary cat or if there was something more behind the odd-coloured eyes.

Bea feels a ripple of pleasure as fingers trail along her body, moving in the same direction of her fur taking her back to a time when she was a kitten and her mother would constantly reassure her with purrs and the licks of her rough tongue. As those fingers reach her head, Bea instinctively moves towards them, booping the fingers with her head and encouraging more contact.

As those fingers move down and under chin, Bea closes her eyes and her whiskers move forwards as she gives herself over to the utter enjoyment of the moment. Bea pricks her ears towards the sounds the creature is making but the words themselves mean nothing to her, the tone is far more important and this tone is gentle, soothing to her in a way she cannot explain.

Bea opens her eyes the second time the 'other' speaks but give no other indication that she has understood the words. In a world full of magic, Bea is exceptional only in how very ordinary she is. She is beautiful, of course she is, she is a cat. She is intelligent, for her kind and she is confident. What she isn't is any kind of fae, creature bespelled, god in exile or beast transformed. No, Bea is just a cat. A cat who ...

Bea stiffens and her pink triangle nose twitches as she catches a scent in the air. What is this now? She looks around to see who or what she has scented. It smells like another cat maybe? It was just a faint hint in the air and now she isn't sure. Bea looks up at the 'other' and lets out a single soft "maio" which her way of asking, "did you smell it too?" Bea wouldn't mind another new friend today and so she curls her tail up in the "hello stranger" pose yet again just in case they are not alone. Today is turning into a very interesting day after all.
