Town Hall

Post by Morjiana »

CItizens of Bravia City,

Please be advised that the Viceroyalty has acted to take the town hall of Bravia, with the assistance of Tuvoria and his army last night. This was in response to repeated threats by the creature Dunstan to steal from the town, followed by his raising an unapproved army in the capitol.

Tuvoria is now Mayor following these events. He has been a loyal citizen of both the town and the VR for longer than most can remember. I have complete faith in his ability to nurture the town.

The Council asked me to have my army, which is authorized, to take the Town Hall and secure it do to the threats and comments made by the former mayor. It was kept quiet so that only those in the council and in the army where aware of what was transpiring. Once things are sorted and we are sure no counter strike is in the making, I will call for the election of a new mayor.

here is an audit of the town hall after the Army did its job:

Blaming high priced items on the market on the last mayor isof poor taste. This has been a systemic problem for a long time. Polls have been taken in the past and it has been shown that most citizens either don't care or the ones that do are torn on what to do with it if anything. Some citizens of the town simply are capitalist at heart and do not place value on helping others.

Marleen,

I am not blaming anyone or any creature. I am a military minded man and followed the orders of the Council under whom I serve as captain of the army. There is reasonable evidence that Dunstan was indeed stealing and looting from the Town Hall. This is a copy of a report that I sent to the Council once I entered the Mayor's office:

in looking at the Mayor's private forum it appears that the Council was correct that Dunstan was robbing the Town Hall. Here are a copy of his post on the Town Hall inventories and what I found when I took over.

Dunstan's report 3 Aug

Treasury: 3453.35/2000
1% Corruption
Inventory: 2318/500

What it looks like today:

Treasury: 838.73/2000
0% Corruption (corruption was 3% when I took the office)
Inventory: 466/500

Based on this info there is approximately 2600 in cash and 1850 items missing from the Town Hall. These were not put into safety via security grants. I am merely putting forth what evidence I have found and leaving it for the authorities to attend to. My job has and always will be the safety and security of Bravia City and our Viceroyalty.

I would add only that the prices of items from the TH under Dunstan's tenure were more than usually overpriced-- i.e. strawberries for 20 Fz, iron for 10 Fz, and so on. While that was certainly undesirable and did not reflect well on his ability to serve the town competently, it was not the reason he was removed. Price gouging is a bad practice, but he certainly isn't the first to engage in it and the town has not in the past chosen to enact market laws to combat it, so it's not illegal. It is indisputable that it is something he did as there was clear evidence of it, and I appreciate Tuvoria working to bring prices more in line with what an average citizen can reasonably afford.

Please check the grant logs

I have one such Grant bag entrusted to me to keep until the TH levels are brought back up and the inventory can hold these items again

I'm really not happy about rewarding those who perpetually place those overpriced goods with a sudden cash windfall. Especially where those goods were in mass.

Marleen, can you explain please? I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not aware of anyone receiving any sort of windfall award of cash or purchases through the TH. There are a number of us who hold security grants from the TH, but those are not gifts. A long time citizen recently left these lands and chose to give his considerable wealth to the town- thus the need for the security grants, as it was far more than the TH can hold.

All I see is a bunch of people who didn't understand the situation and decided to take control without talking to anybody.

I have records somewhere where Dunstan told me that a mammal had died and left a massive amount of things to the town hall which created the problem. The next mayor discovered that the town hall levels had fallen and that had contributed to the problem.

When you took over the town, Dunstan wasn't the mayor.

This is just a whole bunch of upset and drama.

Why didn't somebody just reach out and offer some counseling and advisement instead?

Marleen, your concerns make more sense to me now. Thanks for your explanation. I'm afraid Dunstan didn't offer you the full story. Given how many untruths he told to the council during his brief tenure as mayor, I don't really know for sure how the TH lost levels. That's a concern for me as well and something I'd like very much to avoid in the future. I suppose we could do an audit of the town's records to try to figure out what happened, but I'm frankly too pressed for time currently to manage it myself. If you have time and interest to manage such an endeavor, it would certainly be greatly appreciated. It's clear from records Tuvoria has published that Dunstan was stealing, as he said he would. He had also raised an army without permission in the capitol, which was concerning given his open hostility to the council and unwillingness to work with us when we attempted to be supportive. Esmaralda in particular made efforts above and beyond what would normally happen to work with the creature, with no success. I tend to agree that there was a fair amount of unnecessary drama here, and I can't honestly say that the blame falls entirely on Dunstan. We need all citizens of the capitol to be more diligent in voting and paying attention to elections, so a last minute troublemaker can't so easily cause similar problems again.

Edit to remove OOC in the RP area. Amaryllis
