Peasants Requests

Post by Zachrin »

A group of peasant arrive at town hall hot, sweating, and wielding wheat forks. They seem very upset about the heat and the stillness of the air. They seem to call out for action.

"Mayor, we need money to deal with this crisis. How much will you give us to help us or shall we be ignored?"

[OOC: This is an RP event for mayors and others to interact with. Mayors will have until March 31st end of day before reset to give an answer. The money will be taken from town hall and the response of the peasants posted here and in the TH event log]

Ssast tilts her head curiously at this demand, her tongue flickering to taste the air of her citizens' mood. Anger simmered within the mob. anger enough that these peasants did not fear to meet her gaze as they normally did. But why? Warmth and sun had finally returned to the land after months of freezing snow that had damaged orchards and crops. Certainly she appreciated basking in the new heat. Warm-bloods; were they ever satisfied? Although, if she thought back to the previous year when she had arrived in these lands, the weather did seem unusually hot and dry this year. Perhaps the thaw and spring melt had come too quickly, with floods followed by intense heat.

"Thiss one hass heard your requesst. You dessire money? Why? Do you think gold will bring rainsss and cool windsss? Only the Godss and the Magess may control the weather. Pleasse, explain to me how you think money will help you."

The peasants reply:

"Money will buy us liquid to cool off, stuff to shade our selves, and the things necessary to sacrifice to ask for an end to this weather"

stands next to ssast his head tilted curiously as well "interesting creatures. Maybe these liquids will help them cool? It would maybe help them work better to. One should always take care of their workers. yes? I think we should give them some gold. It may greatly improove our production maybe." shrugs looking thoughtfull

Ssast looks between the peasants and Tolin. "There are treess and buildingss under which to take ssshade. A river and wellsss to drink from to sslake your thirssst. From what thiss one underssstandsss, jobsss here in Bravia pay more than what you get in Fenia or Kiene. How can you sssay you do not have enough?"

"You cold-hearted snake!" Ssast hears someone shout in the crowd, and she raises her hands for calm.

"Thiss one doesss not mean to dissmisss your worriess. Thiss one ssseekss to undersstand the problem and find a better sssolution. If the Magesss make the weather, and you already make sssacrificess to them, why ssshould more sssacrificess make it any better? Rewarding greed doesss you no good."

Murmurs among the peasants come forth and some replies:

"We are turned away from buildings because we don't have money to spend there."

"A river can't be taken under shade"

"We take jobs that pay when we can, but sometimes we are required to do things without pay. Help us!"

"He speaks blasphemy! He doesn't care"

"No, he's just trying to understand us"

"We lack money to make the right sacrifices. Someone must have upset them"

Listening to their words, Ssast considers eating or bestoning* the ones who called her male. Her build is clearly feminine, the ignorant apes! It would probably be a bad idea to consume the creatures within her territory in public, however. She takes note of their scents in case discipline would need rendering later.

"Treesss grow near the river, but thiss one will sssee if the weaversss can prepare awningsss for more ssshade. Thiss one can ssee your point about drinksss. Very well. Thiss one sshall arrange with the Council to have your tab at the barsss paid. Within reassson. Getting yourssselvess drunk will only hurt you in the end. Water and juice isss besst for your health." As if they didn't know that, but she feels the reminder necessary after having observed in the tavern several individuals get drunk off their rockers from too much alcohol.

After some time of thought, Ssast gestures to one of the wiser-looking peasants. "What sssortsss of sssacrificess are ussually made to the magesss?"

*Bestoning: Ssast has the power of Medusa's Glare. As legends hold, Medusa could turn creatures to stone with her angry gaze.

The peasant addressed replies:

"Holy resin, eggs, plucked chickens, and/or cow carcasses. Maybe with these we can make the proper sacrifice"

Some of the others grumble while others seem to look hopeful.

Ssast nodded at these requests. "Thiss iss reassonable. The town hall hass recently had ssome Holy Resssin made. Eggsss are alsso plentiful. We ssshall need to acquire chickensss and a cow or two." While she was remiss toward the local religions, there was no reason that indulging in some ritual should hurt. It should appease the peasants if not their deities.

The peasant replied:

"Thank you, kind one. I think that this will go far with my fellow peasants. We will look forward to what you can give"
