A New Life (Baptism of Willow Braeden)

Post by Willow »

After an issue with some paperwork, Willow found out that she had no record of her own baptism in the Cathedral Records. Realising that she had to fix this problem (before a ceremony was required), she contacted her deacon Gawain (who had luckily been baptised before).

Gawain offered to perform the ceremony for her. Before it was suppose to start, Willow made sure the Cathedral was ready for the baptism and then she returned home to dress for the ceremony.

As Willow had told him she was now ready for her baptism, Gawain arrived at the Cathedral. Seeing that Willow had already got things ready, he went and put on his robes in aside room and then returned to the main part of the Cathedral to to spend some time in meditation whilst he awaited Willow's arrival.

Willow dressed in her robes for the baptism ceremony. Returning to the Cathedral, she found Gawain meditating.

She quietly moved to the front, kneeled and prayed for the ceremony, her friends and her town of Paz and the county of Bravia.

Alexi's Grams had told her about the mix up with her baptism. Arriving in Paz she and Grayson headed straight to the area. Coming on slow poke she said to Grayson as she pulled at his arm not wanting to miss her Grams baptism.

Having made it to town Grayson had, had plans on doing some fishing. He had even spied out a nice spot to put out at. Then Alex had found out that her Gram was being baptized. Coming on slow poke! Grayson popped up his head and smiled, looking back at the lake fondly. I will be back my friends! Alex pulled him along as he watched the water fade away.

Having finished his meditation sometime later, Gawain looked up to see that Willow had arrived. He smiled at her as he stood.

"Hello Willow, shall we begin? Let me know when you are ready."

"Hello Willow, shall we begin? Let me know when you are ready."
Willow was quietly praying when she heard her name. She jumped in fright, because it was so quiet in the Cathedral.

Glancing up, she saw Gawain looking at her and smiled at him. Hearing movement behind her, she turned and saw Alexandria and Grayson had arrived (she smiled at the couple and gave them both a quick hug and thanked them for coming).

Turning back to Gawain, she said yes I'm ready. Willow heads back up to the altar, ready to be baptism.

Alexi hugged her Grams back. Wouldn't have missed this for anything in the world. Finding a seat she and Grayson watched as her Grams approached the alter and Gawain.

Looking around the cathedral, Gawain sees Alexi and Grayson have arrived and he smiles as he nods a greeting to them. He bows before the altar steps, then turns to face those gathered.

*Welcome friends, you are here to witness the Initiation Rite of Willow Braeden."

Gawain smiles and inclines his head to Willow and motions to her to join him at the altar. At the same time that she approaches, he waves his hand gently in the air - torches on the sides of the altar steps light up one by one and music begins to play in the background.

"An important journey lies ahead, for such a journey you must be prepared and determined to fulfill its challenges that you shall face. This crucial step will guide you on the path you choose, without it...you may lose yourself."

He turns to face the altar and waves his hand gracefully across the altar, it glows with the magic of the mages and focuses in three spots. he places an individual vial in each spot. The magic fills them and becomes liquid.

He say as he motions toward each vial in turn.

"The first potion is a sinister black, it bubbles as you uncork it and has an overwhelming smell that makes you feel powerful. To take this potion you commit yourself to the dark arts of the Faith, never to be blinded by weakness you see the future and strive to shape it in your eyes."

"The second potion is a bright blue potion, it feel a wave to calm and peacefulness as you uncork it and its sweet pleasant aroma reminds you of kind memories. To take this potion you commit yourself to the light arts of the Faith, to help guide those weaker then you in any shape or form and be their light in the darkness, you see the past as a means to learn from."

"The third is a clear potion, you feel nothing as you uncork it and it has no particular smell it might as well be water. To take this potion you commit yourself to balance, you are a master of none. You understand that sometimes you must be the 'monster' in order to protect others. The past and future do not interest you, for you live in the present."

He then asks Willow.

"Do you understand the commitment that you are about to start?"
