Katarina followed Gawain into the dining room where the candles glowed softly. She watched as he set the bowls of stew on the table. Taking a seat across from him, she smiled....everything in her life was wonderful.

Taking the glass of wine she listened as he made a toast. "Yes my love, to our future. May the sun fall from the sky before our love for each other fades." Taking a sip from her wine as she looked deep into his eyes. There was nothing but love radiated from him.

The dinner was delicious and the company exquiste as they sat eating the stew and discussing the wedding and their life together.

So one day in early November there was a light rap at the cottage door.

Gawain heard a knock on the door and went to open it.

Evangeline clutched her bonnet because the wind was whipping up a tempest in the north. She set her bushel of corn down on the steps (and her back thanked her for it!), and leaned her herding staff against the threshold. "Gawain, I am come to baptize you. Come into the yard, would you?" she had to shout because the wind buffeted her, anxiously whisking her voice away into the heavens.

She had to poach two items from her personal inventory; a wooden helm filled with a clear and sweet liquor, and a metal decanter that bubbled, and boiled. "Come into the yard, would you?" she wondered, and beckoned.

Katarina sat in the warmth of the autumn sun as it shone through the window in the living room reading when she heard a knock on the door. who could that be? she thought to herself as she watched Gawain rise from his chair and head towards the door.

"Hey hun, who's at the door?" she yelled from her seat.

Gawain smiled at Evangeline. "Yes, I am ready to be baptized." Gawain was about step out into the yard when he heard Katarina call out, asking who was at the door. He called back "Its Evangeline, she is the priestess. She has come to baptize us for our marriage."

He then stepped forward into the yard.

Katarina rose from her seat near the window, laying her book on the nearby table. Heading towards the door when Gawain spoke of who was at the door and the reason.

"Hello Evangeline" she said respectfully. "Gawain says you're here to baptize us. I'm glad that he contacted you, I've been so busy getting this house ready. I'm ready, what do you need us to do?"

She stood by her fiance, reaching out and gently taking his hand in hers. Smiling, she realized that this was the first step to truely becoming his wife.

5 months later

A warm breeze blew through the windows as Katarina opened them to freshen the house. It had been a long winter and the house was beginning to feel a bit stuffy. Katarina smiled at the fresh smells of spring and soon she found herself exploring the grounds around the home that she shared with her husband Gawain.

Small shoots of green were bursting through the ground. Several crocus had bloomed near the house where she had planted them last fall after the wedding. Image
Although the wedding was a small one with only her and Gawain and the priestess, it was the most magical day of her life. She wore a simple white gown and held a small bouquet of fall flowers as she spoke her vows to the man who had captured her heart and held it in his hands. Gawain looked so handsome in a simple tunic and trousers. She remembered it like it was yesterday.

The winter had been a long and cold one which gave them lots of time to decorate the house and to get to know each other in a more intimate way. They had spent their wedding night in her room as the room they would share as husband and wife wasn't completed yet. Within weeks of the wedding, the master bedroom had been completed. A big canopy bed filled the room Image and the chairs by the fireplace made the room comfortable and inticing. They had spent many cold, snowy nights curled up together under the covers sharing intimate moments and rowdy lustful passion. They were anxious to start a family, to make their life complete. They had already left one of the smaller rooms empty in hopes that one of these months she would have good news for Gawain.

"Gawain....you should really come outside, it's beautiful out here." she called into the house through the open door.

A few months later...

Gawain still remembered their wedding, Katarina had looked radiantly beautiful in her simple white gown. He had worn a simple brown tunic and trousers.

He hoped that they would be able to start a family to make their lives complete as it would make them both very happy. He smiled as he put the finishing touches on an item he hoped Katarina would like. He was not a carpenter by trade but he had sufficient skills to be able to craft the item he had made. He carried it into the empty room that they had set aside and covered it over with a sheet.

Knowing Katarina was outside their home, he called out through the open window. "Darling, could you come inside, please? I've got something to show you."

A warm summer breeze blew through her hair as Katarina tended to her rose garden. She smiled as she gently cut some of the flowers and placed them in the basket. She loved the gardens that she had around the house, an herb garden for fresh herbs in her cooking and then there was her rose garden and an area of colorful wildflowers that framed the lake.

"I'll be right there" she called back to Gawain when she heard him call her back into the house. Picking up the basket that held the roses, she headed into the house to find her husband to discover what he had to show her.
