My Shadow

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.
The funniest things about him is the way he likes to grow-
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an India rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there's none of him at all.
He hasn't got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close beside me, he's a coward you can see;
I'd think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!
One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.

Blessings to you all.

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

The Forest's Blessed Abode

Come walk with me into the forest's blessed abode,
To see the wondrous beauty the Earth has bestowed;
We'll bask in the surreal splendor that surrounds us,
And listen to nature composing the forest's grand opus,
As sounds of whispering trees and burbling streams,
Send our minds wandering into a poet's lovely dreams.

We'll walk where sunlight sets the forest's leaves aglow,
Weaving open paths to dapple golden light on all below;
Where trees shade us from summer heat and harsh rays,
Freeing our minds so we can see Mother Nature's ways,
Of creating nurturing sanctuaries for life dwelling there,
To shield its tender wards from storms too hard to bear.

Come sit beneath the glowing embers of an autumn tree,
Whose rich hues are a natural wonder many come to see,
While colorful leaves glide down in a whirling course,
Like embers breaking loose from their flaming source,
Glowing for a moment as if falling to their ending fate,
Instead, nourishing Earth for rebirth into a new state.

The wintering forest seems to be a still desolate place,
Yet, under the snow and autumn leaves of a tree's base,
Beats the promising pulse of new life that patiently waits,
For spring's warmth and rain to open wide nature's gates;
Roam with me under the trees standing strong over it all,
To watch them quietly sleep until nature's beckoning call.

Let us stroll in spring's forest where we will reap,
The joy of Earth awakening its children from sleep,
And hear life's chorus and watch its offspring grow,
As waking trees renew their canopy over all below;
Come share with me the forest's spirit at rebirth,
So we too are reborn within this temple of Earth.

Every now and then let us answer the forest's call,
To come see life's beauty and the miracle of it all;
If we listen with our hearts as we walk among trees,
We may understand the message carried on a breeze,
For us to blend with the forest's spirit so it will beguile,
Us into walking under its lovely trees for just a while.

Blessings to all

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

I Will Be

I will always be there for you.
You will never be alone.
I will be that candle in the window,
So you can always find your way back home.

I will be the sun in the sky
To brighten up your day,
I will be the moon shining above,
So in the dark you can find your way.

I will be the blanket when you're cold.
You will feel my warmth around you,
I will be the shoulder for you to cry on
When you're upset or feeling blue.

I will be the listening ears
When you need someone to talk to.
I will be the advice that you need
When you don't know what to do.

I will be the voice inside your head,
Telling you not to give up, to fight,
I will be the hand patting your back
When you stand up for what is right.

I will be those stars you wish upon
To help you realize your dreams.
I will be the needle and the thread
If it all falls apart at the seams.

I will be the map to anywhere,
To help you when you are lost.
I will be that number you can call for anything,
No matter what the cost.

I will be that feeling in your heart
That let's you know I'll love you like no other.
I will be anything you need at anytime.
I will always be...your mother.

Blessings to you all.

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

My Kitty

I once had a kitty
who had stripes in her fur.
I could pet her and brush her,
and boy could she purr.

She was a mighty hunter,
and she was not shy.
She'd seek out the bugs,
especially the flies.

Oh, you mischievous little kitty,
with your face in the can.
That fly you are chasing
is now on the stand.

That nasty old bug
thinks he's smart and witty.
But he's never tangled
with my little kitty.

He thinks he's outsmart her,
that clever old bug.
She'll curl up and wait there
on that big fluffy rug.

My clever little kitty,
oh no, she's no dope.
She'll sit back and wait.
She'll show him the ropes.

She curled up and waited,
like a clever old spy.
Then she jumped up
and pounced on that taunting old fly.

So the moral of the story,
if you are a fly,
don't mess with my kitty,
or you will soon die.

Blessings to you all.

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

Will You Ever?

I don't think you will
Ever fully understand
How you've touched my life
And made me who I am.

I don't think you could ever know
Just how truly special you are,
That even on the darkest nights
You are my brightest star.

You've allowed me to experience
Something very hard to find,
Unconditional love that exists
In my body, soul, and mind.

I don't think you could ever feel
All the love I have to give,
And I'm sure you'll never realize
You've been my will to live.

You are an amazing person,
And without you I don't know where I'd be.
Having you in my life
Completes and fulfills every part of me.

Blessings to you all.

You sit in a pew and listen. Gawain approaches the pulpit and says:

Winter

There are strange and mysterious sounds
When the winds of winter blow,
The long nights are crystal clear and cold,
And the fields and meadows are covered with snow.
The stars are frosty against the sky,
And the wind's whistle is shrill,
As the snow blows against the house
And drifts against the hill.
Yet, I like to see during the winter
A white carpet on the ground,
To plod aimlessly in the deep snow,
where deer tracks abound.
I like to feel the stillness
Of a crisp winter's night,
Watching a full moon rise over the horizon,
Exposing a winter wonderland beautiful and bright.

Blessings to all.

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

When The World Turned Upside Down

The day when the world
turned upside down:
when a frown became a smile
and a smile became a frown.

When the mice chased the cats
the cats chased the dogs.
The dogs laughed out loud
at the pink and yellow frogs.

When you went to bed in the daytime
and got up at night.
When birds caught the school bus
and the cows took flight.

When the moon came out
in the middle of the day
and all of the ocean's fish
rolled around in the hay.

When the children ruled the world
and ice cream was for free
and the elephants shrank
to the size of a flea.

When the grass rained lollipops
up to the sky.
When you wanted to laugh
but could only cry.

When magic beans were real
and giants very small,
you would eat spiders legs
so you could creep up the wall.

This all happened when the
world turned upside down
after I went to bed
with a smile - not a frown.

Blessings to you all.

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

Mommy Will Sing A Lullaby

All tucked up and snug in bed
as angels stand guard above your head,
Mommy will kiss away your fears.
She'll stroke your hair and dry your tears.

She softly sings a lullaby
about the stars up in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle star so bright,
shining down on us tonight.

Her breath is warm upon your face
as you lie still in her embrace.
With sleepy eyes you gaze at mom
as the moon comes up to replace the sun.

Tomorrow will be another day
where you'll have fun, laugh, and play.
But sleep for now, and Mommy will sing a song for you
and you will smile the whole way through.

She gently holds your hand in hers, your fingers wrapped around her thumb.
These are treasured moments as she waits for sleep to come.
Her voice is but a whisper now; her tone is soft and true,
for there is nowhere in the world she'd rather be than lying here with you.

Blessings to you all

You sit in a pew and listen. Willow approaches the pulpit and says:

Changing The Past

The past is the past for a reason.
That is where it is supposed to stay,
But some cannot let it go.
In their heads it eats away

Until all their focus becomes
The person they used to be,
The mistakes they made in their life.
Oh, if only they could see

That you cannot change what happened,
No matter how hard you try,
No matter how much you think about it,
No matter how much you cry.

What happens in your lifetime
Happens for reasons unknown,
So you have to let the cards unfold.
Let your story be shown.

Don't get wrapped up in the negative.
Be happy with what you have been given.
Live for today not tomorrow.
Get up, get out, and start living,

Because the past is the past for a reason.
It's been, and now it is gone,
So stop trying to think of ways to fix it.
It's done, it's unchangeable; move on.

Blessings to you all.

Winter Trees

All the complicated details
of the attiring of the branches are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

Blessings to all.
