[ORP] The Graveyard of Bravia

Post by Wandress »

(OOC: Please feel free to RP your visits to the Town Graveyard, to add or visit headstones, plant or tend flowers, loot graves, or just a quiet moment of reflection. :) Please respect RP rules and guidelines.)

The cold winter wind ruffled Wandress' violet locks as she climbed the winding path beyond the Temple to the solemn stones crowning the top of the small hill. The threat of snow hung in the air; it had not fallen yet, but it was not far off. Pulling her cloak tighter around her body as she crested the hill, she took a moment to orient herself in the small plot. There were few tomb stones here, but they were well maintained; a small courtesy performed for departed creatures that were, and still are, loved.

One, beautifully etched, had "Sandra" carved elegantly across the top. Wandress remembered her, a lovely girl with a big heart. She had been involved in the town early, becoming the town mentor, Wandress' own Deacon, and later when Wandress had become indisposed, Sandra had become Priestess in her own right for a time. A shame that she had left the world too soon. The flowers decorating the headstone had wilted slightly, perhaps from the cold. Opening herself to the Light, Wandress delicately caressed one of the fading petals, infusing it with tendrils of Light and energy. Before her eyes, the flowers became fuller with life.

The other headstone was also beautifully carved by a deft hand, but no name adorned it. For a moment, Wandress wondered who it may be dedicated to, but perhaps that was the secret between the lost love one and the one that remained behind. Its flowers were meticulous.

A small, sad smile crossed her lips, and Wandress inclined her head for a silent moment of prayer to the Mages, thanking them for their guidance, imploring them to continue, and to favour those in their care. She remained a few moments more, listening to the quiet of the winter wind, before truning to follow the path back to the city.

Another election, another term granted. Although it felt rather amazing to be active as Mayor again, it carried some sad feelings with it. She had accomplished a lot in her last six terms for the town, yet during that time, she had lost a few friends to other towns in the land for various reasons. And whilst she could write to them and somewhat fill the hole their absence left in the Town Council's chambers, she couldn't write to one person.

Sighing softly, Aishe shivered as she entered the graveyard. Her culture were wary of mulo and had several protections against them in case they fancied a possession, but graveyards still were a bit unnerving for her. She had heard stories of people getting possessed and slaughtering their vitsa in the night. She certainly didn't want to harm anyone and the thought of hurting her wife and children was a shuddering horror. Yet, she could not resist a visit to her friend as being Mayor was too strong of a reminder of her absence.

The vampire came to the familiar tombstone and stopped, her fingertips brushing against the cold top to dust off some of the gathered snow. She then ran them over the engraved name in thought, a faint smile pulling at her lips from the memories. There was something about this fairy that always made her warm and happy, even after her life was lost. As her smile faded, a sigh came and she placed the bouquet of flowers on the snow.

I miss you, my friend. Starting my seventh term as Mayor... Crazy how time flies. And yet, memories remain just as fresh. Pausing, she licked her lips as her eyes wandering across the over snow covered graves. A dreary place, graveyards. Her icy blue eyes went back to the tombstone before her. I'll be thinking of you, Sandra.

She placed her hand on the tombstone once again before pulling her cloak tighter and turning to head home. She had newborn babes and a recovering wife to see to before she got back into her Mayoral duties.
