Dining Out; Vampire Edition

Post by Mallory »

A frustrated growl tore through the silence of nature, the animals, even the trees it seemed stilling at the harsh sound against the tranquil sounds of nature naturally occurring. Her nose curled up as she looked at the blood staining her calfskin trousers. Her skin was slowly getting less sensitive to the sun, but she was nowhere near the point of being able to be out in it without coverage. When she planned to be highly physical she would don the thick animal skin pants to ensure the sun couldn't come through. She hated having to wear the layers, though she was no longer hot in the sun she did sincerely wish to feel the warm rays upon her skin once more. Some days it seemed the burn might be worth it, but then she remembered the pain when it touched the slightest sliver of her own skin. The thick woolen stockings she wore didn't bother her with the heat but they itched like the dickens against her sensitive skin, she looked down at the ties and rolled her eyes, they, too were blood spattered. She'd never get the ankle ties clean, and replacing them meant weaving a new set. Her shirt was easy enough to clean, the blue shift was long and secured, again, at the writs with now bloody ties, and high up her neck, the broad hat covering her hair, and thin gloves completing the outfit that covered her skin, protecting her from the damaging rays. The doe at her feet bled onto the rocks beneath it, but it did not stir her appetite. She forced herself to take her fill, refusing to draw from her loved ones more than she had to. When she completed her "meal", she put her shoes back on and hefted the animal onto the hand cart thankful she was a bit stronger than most would expect from her frame. She carted the animal back to town, while her meal was unsatisfactory Jandar and Zipporah might enjoy the treat of fresh venison.

It wasn't pretty thing, she knew, but she was proud of the gift she'd hunted for her sister, and Kralisi's nuptial celebration. She stared at the cart, wishing she'd listened to Zipporah for once. The bear dangled of the end, It had been riddled with pain, his leg placed at an awkward angle, she reminded herself once more, it was a mercy killing. She tried, after the first few weeks, to never again kill an animal that wasn't injured or old. She'd It hadn't taken her long to dress the animal for travel and as she lugged the cart she wished once more she'd brought along the horse as Zipporah suggested. The animals didn't shy away from her as some did, and she had tried, in a moment of stupidity to allow the animal a time of rest. Now as she jerked against the smooth wood she grimaced, rebuking herself again for her stubbornness. A snap of a twig to her left had her stilling, her eyes scanning the area seeking the source of the noise. She spotted nothing, and after a few minutes continued on her way.

Mallory heard a slight buzzing in her mind and somehow thought the sound of someone offering her help came to her mind, but again she shook her head and continued tugging the cart. She slowly worked forward if she went too fast she'd drop the bear, if she went too slow she'd never get there in time. She did however, keep going.

(OOC: Sorry Duke! I didn't see you'd posted.)
