The Sisters of Jilou

Post by Rowena »

Here ye, here ye, one and all!

With the recent discovery of the ancient text of Shadows and Light, the Sisters of Jilou have been reborn again in Secfenia!

The Sisters are both pantheistic and polytheistic, believing Nature and higher belief are intertwined at every level, while also revering the Mages as the highest manifestation of the Faith in the world of Secfenia.

Out of all the Mages the Sisters feel closest affinity to Jilou, the compassionate Mage of Earth and Growth, and many of their rituals are often grounded in the magics of nature, earth, and the cycle of life.

The Sisters historically kept no formal sacred text, but instead contributed to the oft-adapted Book of Shadows and Light, a compilation of texts from various sources (significant portions coming from the Sisters themselves).

There exists no dogmatic moral or ethical code followed universally by the Sisters and the vows required to join the Sisters are not those of chastity or poverty normally prescribed to religious orders. Instead, the Sisters hold the virtues of mirth, reverence, strength, beauty, power and compassion the highest, honoring the duality of nature and the humbling cycle of life and death as part of every being's journey.

Sisters of Jilou may be extremely vocal in their beliefs or may choose to walk their path privately; participation in the Sisters should not prohibit one from answering the call of other beliefs so long as the basic ideals of the Sisterhood are not at odds with other observed Faiths. Like a single facet of a brilliant diamond, The Sisterhood may be the strongest call to the Faith for one, but it does not exist alone.

Many Sisters are also active in lobbying and politics on behalf of those in need, or opt to serve their communities through teaching, medical care, or other local grassroots contributions. A Sister may be the woman selling you strawberries in the market in the morning, a warrior on the battlefield, a Justice sitting in court, your teacher, your mother, your daughter.

If you feel drawn to the beauty and strength of Nature and wish to to be initiated into the Sisters of Jilou, please contact Priestess Rowena.
Mages: Please forgive the double posting. The people of Secfenia have no common area to meet IC yet the Sisters are open to all, so a message in each VR was required to include everyone. Any similarities to a canned meat are purely unintentional. ;)

One and all,

Since sister Rowena has posted the announcement of the Sisterhood, a few things have been discussed and decided amongst and about the Sisterhood. Something that has been settled upon is a symbol, which I'd like to announce and explain.

Our symbol is the Tree of Life {in Celtic knot version}. This image represents the flow of life as the branches reach down and connect with the roots. It's a circle of energy and everything is connected, as the roots and branches intertwine with one another. Essentially, it's the Circle of Life.
