GRP: Aerial Race: Race Day!!!

All riders please assemble at the starting line. Any spectators, feel free to register your attendance now or at any point during the race.

Our entries for this race are as follows:

Balerion riding a hippogriff
Scarlette riding a griffon
Thistletumbler riding a hippogriff
Logo riding a hippogriff

Good luck to all!!! The first leg of the race will be called at reset +12, which is a little more than 2 hours from now.

"Riders ready?" Adonair receives acknowledgement from each rider, "On your mark, get set, go"

The riders rush to their beasts, mount and take off heading for the forest.

"Out of the starting blocks its Balerion taking the early lead. He is followed by Logo who is flying low so far, that's fine for now, but will be tricky going through the trees. Scarlette and Thistletumbler jostle for third the two beasts coming quite close together. OHH! It appears Scarlette used her riding crop to attack Hippie, the unfortunate mount of Thistletumbler. The beast quickly drops back leaving the griffon unchallenged in third."

Going through the forest its Logo making a move underneath and into the lead!! Balerion is in a close second. Scarlette clipped a tree and spun out. That's going to cost some time, but the beast is ok, she can still get back in this race. Thistletumbler takes over third place from the faltering scarlette.

Snack had grown surprisingly fast after hatching. Still, Logo couldn't imagine the newborn hippie-griffon would be able to fly and carry the weight of a troll. The day of the race, he bought buttered bread from the market stall and borrowed the neighbor's cat. Arriving at town hall, he presented his entry-papers to Lord Mayor, Adonair and greeted the great dragon, Balerion with a bow. He hadn't met the other two riders before, so he waved and smiled, "Good luck!"

Adonair called out, "... riders please assemble..."
"Stand still, Snack. I have a theory. " said the troll, strapping the kitten under the large bird's stomach. With the bread firmly attached - butter-side-up - to his own head, Logo mounted his steed and gestured a thumbs up.
The shout "... get set, go!" rang out. The sound of flapping wings filled the air and the race was on.

His riding had been a little spotty on the first leg, but Snack did well. Through the forest, Logo encouraged the bird, "Well done, Snack! Stay low in the trees. I've been chopping here all week. " as he reached down to adjust the cat for better balance.

Ahead of them Logo saw the church tower and prepared for the hard turn.

Logo is flying too low and has take the long way around the temple, Balerion is able to cut inside and take back the lead. Scarlette is moving up fast, passing thistletumbler and gaining on Logo, they're almost neck and neck in a close second. Thistletumbler has fallen back a bit its going to be tough to make up that much ground with just one leg of the race left.

Coming down the home stretch its balerion then logo trying to pass underneath and scarlette coming on fast. Thistletumbler has weakened and will finish fourth. Logo challenges balerion twice and passes on the second effort, Scarlette shoots by balerion and challenges Log in the last furlong. They fight Scarlette trying to reach the troll with her riding crop, but Logo bumps and jostles with his heavier animal and manages to hold on and win by a neck!!!

WOO HOO! , shouted the troll in celebration as he jumped from Snack's back.

Unfortunately, in the excitement, he forgot to first remove the buttered bread from his head and the cat strapped to the young Hippie-Griff's stomach.
Logo had placed the cat and bread before the race expecting the forces that demanded toast land butter-side down and cats land feet first could be combined to produce an anti-gravity boost, helping the newly-hatched bird support a troll's weight. The theory had apparently worked, but as the bread and cat were separated, the forces became unbalanced.

Either that, or he tripped. Logo couldn't be entirely certain.

In the process of dismounting Snack, Logo spun head first toward the ground making a squishy Gah-umpth sound and taking his Hippie-Griff with him.
Snack, this being his first race, had no idea the upside-down rider wasn't a normal part of race-winning celebration. But he did know the exercise had given him a ferocious appetite and gobbled greedily at the bread.

Logo stood to congratulate the other riders and thank the Lord Mayor Adonair for sponsoring the race.
Well done, friends. he said with a great smile and a bow.

Adonair pounds Logo on the back in celebratory fashion. He stays well out of hugging range because he enjoys having unbroken ribs. He is still astonished at Logo's unorthodox race strategy. Logo had the weakest stats and the least experience of any racer yet had won.

Adonair also sees to thistletumbler's mount Hippie that is in considerable pain from the strange riding crop injury it had sustained.

thistle came flying in at a immense fourth place...he got off hippie, and stepped down feeling gutted. '' well done logo! shows that trolls are good for soemthing!'' he grinned ''just joking, dont gimmie no bear hugs or nothing okay?'' he then started to care for his hippogrith that was obviously in enourmous pain.
