Wolf Child

30 000 000 years ago, in a land of myth and legend, when magic ruled, it is said that only tranquillity existed between magic, animals, elements and humans. They say there was all of this because of a single female warrior called Tempest. She fought against the forces of evil, she did this for 100 years. In the myths and legends, it is said that as she lay on her dead bed taking in her last moments of life she made a prophecy. The prophecy was said ‘that when the forces of evil rose up yet again a single female baby called Tempest would be born into this world. This baby would have extraordinary powers, she would have an amazing I.Q of 160 % and this girl would be a brave warrior. Then when the child reaches 16 she would leave home and seek out the evil forces and banish them from this world to protect innocents and those that she loves most.’ Then it is said as she took her last breath the forces of evil heard the prophecy and blasted her to bits.

200 years later the forces of evil started to rise yet again and a single baby girl was born into a poor family of bakers who had never heard the story of Tempest. So not thinking that there would be any consequence the parents finally decided on a name for their baby child. They called her Tempest Electra Baker. That very night the forces of evil heard the name said and a blessing that followed, instantly they went and obliterated the family, house and surrounding village. only little Tempest survived, the forces of evil left her to starve. Fortunately it was not to be and so late in the morning next day a lone male wolf who was searching for the food he, his mate and his pups needed heard the frightened Tempest’s sobs. He pulled her out and cleaned her, then walked off to find food. When he came back that way dragging the food he saw her still there but now she was not crying, instead she was nudging her dead mother for milk in the same way a wolf cub does. Because she was so small the wolf felt sorry for her and so took her back with him to his home near a village. When his mate saw her she and the pups accepted her into their family.

About a year later, the wolves still were looking after Tempest and when they went out she went with them. Unfortunately for the wolves this ment that the villagers had seen her quite a few times. A week after Tempest’s birthday a small group of villagers went out to the wolf den and looked inside. Next to the pups was Tempest. ‘This be the child you been seeing Master?’ said one of the teenage boys that had gone with the men to the den. His voice was so loud that the mother wolf looked up and the pups began to whine so the father wolf had to calm them down. As the mother wolf looked through the men she saw the old lord of the village whom she knew to be very wise and kind. Gently she took Tempest and handed her over to the old lord. As the villagers looked on in astonishment the wolf, her mate and her pups got up and walked into the village. as the men ran after them expecting an attack they found them sat by the front door of the Lord’s house with the pups running round the lord’s wife happily.

‘It seems that the wolves have chosen us my wife, that is to say I think they want us to look after the human child. Would you mind? After all we have no child of our own, so would it really hurt?’ the lord asked his wife gently proffering the baby Tempest forward to her. For a moment she did not respond but then as she took her eyes away from the wolf pups, she nodded her head and accepted the baby Tempest. From that day forth the wolves were always at the village and people got used to seeing them up to the point of a year later they could freely come and go and they accompanied the men from the village of hunting trips. When the men got back they would be greeted by the Lord’s wife and a smiling Tempest in her arms. As time progressed Tempest began to develop at an alarming rate. Her vocabulary increased everyday and she started to spell and write things. Then little than 4 months later and she was starting to read. The thing was she was ready to progress to a 6 year olds work level!

About 15 years later, in the early on a frosty morning a group of shady hunters entered that very same village. ‘My husband! You’ve returned at long last, how was dearest?’ said the Lady Emerald (wife to the lord of the village). As he lifted his hood he was embraced sweetly by his wife. Gently he said ‘My trip was successful. How has the village been and also how has Tempest been?’ As his wife smiled at him she said ‘The village has been normal and Tempest recovered 2 days after you left, Willow is with her and the children currently. He is helping her to teach the girls sewing and the boys fencing.’ At this all of the men laughed, they all knew that Tempest was currently the best fighter in the village and she was able to be a female warrior with ease if she wished to.
