His back turned to the hunters for the moment he looks at her his eyes flashing brightly "Only Valerion can do me real harm, the crossbows and fire as much as they hurt are no real threat to me" he wanted to tell her something but the words stuck for a moment "You...you mean ...too much to me, to let them hurt you" Just tell her not the words he wanted to say but at least it would get the message across.

Turning back to face the group closing the gap, he closes his eyes for a moment letting the Vitae flow through him, he had fed twice since this hunt began, he had enough strength in him to deal with this, but his thoughts kept turning to Wandress "Yes I'll have to kill them, maybe not them all but at least Valerion and who ever is leading those men" he wasnt proud of what he had just said but it was the truth, this needed to end here and now. Flashing her a grin his fangs showing now as the Vitae flows through him "You could certainly lend a hand" as he looks at her claws as his own grow, he crouches behind a large boulder, pulling her down with him.

Her head tilted curiously to the side watching him, trying to understand why he was tripping over himself. He did not seem fearful, he rather spoke of killing the men, especially Valerion, with a grim relish. Mean too much? Too much what? Humans were so vague in their words and meanings, perhaps Joao would know. If she got out of this alive to ask him, at least.

While Hephastion set his eyes on the oncomers, she cast her gaze through the darkness at the trees about her. Yes, she could very much help here, as much as it was to her distaste to kill those men. Disarming some of them, trussing up others she could try to save their lives, but she knew it was inevitable to prevent harming them. That wasn't the way Hephastion did things. Her eyes glazing over with quicksilver, she moved away from Hephastion's side towards a thick oak tree, its trunk wider than she could wrap her arms around. Dexterously she pulled herself up into its lower branches, making sure the bole would cover her if she drew their fire. She just needed to be able to see them.

He's near I can smell his stench clenching his fist he allows the light to grow slowly, looking around the shadows, the torch light creating movements and shadows that were only a distraction, the glow from his hand growing, cast a whiter light more steady than the torches.

The latches on the crossbows clinking in the darkness, the other men could sense Valerions apprehension, one of them spins quickly as a shadow moves in his peripheral, sighing as he spots a large rodent scarpering under the bushes.

Suddenly, with a supernatural speed the mans head is knocked back, the crossbow taken and aimed at another, the bolt sending the man spawling on the cold mossy forrest floor as he lets out a last gasp, his fingers clutching at the bolt protruding from his throat. Another unlatches a canister and launches it towards the silhouette of Hephastion, the flames bursting out in a roar of heat and flame, the screams of the hunter dying as he burns.

Get some discipline into these men Valerion shouts over the noise, the light in his palm growing brighter.

The other men now alert and aiming their weapons form a square.

As he watches her move off towards the trees, his mind wanders for a moment Shes..well I dont know what she is, how would it work he felt something in him pull, his heart, he hadnt felt that feeling for a long time, over thirty years in fact. His heart was the only functioning organ in his body, how odd it should still create feelings such as these now, but she had managed to find him in all this somehow, she was drawn to him as he was to her.

Closing his eyes for a moment to clear his head, this was not the time or place to be thinking of such things, his eyes move to the hunters closing in on them, then back to Wandress, this time he was making sure she was out of direct harm, the feeling in his heart out of the way...for the moment.

With a burst of speed he leaps over the rock and sprints towards the group, one man had turned his back, Hephastions eyes shined as he put his fist through the mans face, grabbing the crossbow and nailing the bolt into one of them, he quickly turned and spun behind a tree as another one launched the canister at him, the heat causing him to pull away from the tree.

Setting his eyes on his next target, he had to concentrate now, bolts and canisters were going to create too much distraction, he moved quickly around the group, a bolt fyling over his head another jarring into his shoulder, biting his lip to stop himself shouting out he swings in, grabbing a man by his jerkin, his momentum carrying him onward, he smashes the man into a tree trunk, watching him slide to the ground as a bolt thuds into the mans chest, crouching again his eyes bright and his anger flaring he focuses on the man in the middle of the group.

Crouching low on her perch, she peered through the brush towards the wavering torchlights drawing ever nearer. Once they were close enough that she could make out faces in the flickering light, they stopped, a large armed man drawing them to a halt. Immediately the night was filled with shouts of anger and dying screams, the distinct snap of crossbows punctuating the fight. Now and then the forest would light up with fire, engulfing some trees, and even some men. Hephastion was among them, hunting, killing them, their slow reactions and fragile bodies no match for the Vampyr.

Drawing in a deep breath, she gathered the Light around her, hastily weaving balls of flame which she hurled at the feet of the hunters. The ground at their feet exploded in a shower of dirt and flame, knocking them over. A few she had thrown too close, and cries of alarm quickly turned into screams of pain. She winced, the screams cutting deeply at her; this was not the work of a healer. No, this was the work of the cornered. Altering her weaves to ropes of air, she flung them at the assailants, binding their arms tightly to their sides.

As he prowls closer to the group, Wandress does a good job causing distraction, her fire adding to the chaos, an invisible force binding others, he could only guess was Wandress' work.

Springing up like a lion, he pounces over the men infront of Valerion, catching the mans shoulder as he rolls away, he covers himself as best he can as the light is released, letting out a deep bellow as the skin on his arm is burned, the pain seering through him. Getting to him feet slowly he clenches his fist, his claws drawing blood. Moving towards the man, crossbow bolts bouncing off him now as his flash hardens. "This ends now Valerion" his voice full of hate for the man as the pain in his arm grows.

As he leaps at the man, he is tackled in mid air, the two of them rolling in the under growth, Hephastion recovers using his strength to get on top of the man, smashing his fist into the mans face, half burying it in the soft ground with the sound of a bursting melon. His eyes dull for a moment as he watches Valerion cast again....

Turning late as the Vampyr leaps at him, he is spun round as he releases the light, the surrounding forrest lit as bright as day for a moment, long shadows cutting through the forrest, as he recovers he sets himself as Hephastion moves closer, he wouldnt have time to recast the light, drawing his sword he prepares himself Indeed Hephastion, lets end this now

As he prepares to block a lunge, he is met with nothing, soon realising one of the hunters saved him, taking the moment he clenches his finst again as the light begins to grow, his eye twitching as he hears the sound of the mans skull being pounded into the earth.

As he watches Hephastions silhouette rise to the back drop of the burning trees, his eyes darken as he stares coldy back, the light in his hand growing, he wouldnt miss this time....

Drawing up her hand to cover her eyes as a flash of light washed over the area, banishing the dark for a moment. Wandress blinked rapidly as the light disappeared, trying to banish the bright spots from her vision. That must have been the light I saw earlier, she thought, fixing her eyes on the man she assumed must be Valerion. Hephastion's cry of pain shattered through the air, her own cry of concern drowned out among the din.

The man clearly had his focus on Hephastion, and none of the hunters seemed to have noticed her; oh, they had noticed her weaves, but finding their origin seemed secondary to having their faces smashed in by Hephastion. Changing weaves again, she drew deeply as she formed a ball of fire, holding her breath as she flung it towards the tall armed leader.

His eyes flicker to the ball of fire coming from the tree, back to the glowing in Valerions hand. Taking a deep breath he forces the Vitae through his system, everything slows down around him as he moves forward, ducking a bolt as it flies at him. Valerion turns at the last moment to parry the ball of fire with the sword, the force knocking him back a step.

Hephastions eyes shine as Valerions back is turned for a moment, tearing forward he throws himself at his back, his claws digging into Valerions neck, he draws his head back sinking his fangs deep into his flesh he drinks deep, feeling the Vitae flow through his body, he watches as the light begins to fade.

Letting him go he stands facing the man for a moment before Valerion falls to his knees.

Watching Hephastion, his attention caught by a flash behind him. Turning quickly his sword parrys the ball of flame, the force taking him off balance, his eyes widen as he realises what has happened, reacting too slowly he feels the claws digging into his neck, then a sudden burning as the fangs pierce his flesh.

Trying to fight against it, he twists to struggle free, his legs weaken as his blood is drained from him, a wicked smile crossing his lips as he realises he cant escape, the irony of the Hunter being killed by the very prey he chose to extinguish all these years.

Hephastions grip on his loosening, he turns slowly falling to his knees in front of him, trying to draw on the light again.
