[RP] BRAVIA COUNTY COURTHOUSE

As one approaches they see the main seat of the county where the offices of Public Prosecutor and County Judge are....



Once inside it is not a long walk to the end of the hall and in the double doors where justice to the county is served.



In an ante room sits the county, Judge Amaia Clifton-Braeden. Leisurely dressed in her judicious robes she awaits her clerk. Once all parties are in the courtroom and seated she will enter. Picking up her morning brew, she wonders what blend her father had conjured this time. As she looked into the light brownish liquid she saw what appeared to be tiny birds in flight shimmering just above the bottom of the cup, shrugging she sipped more, why not it did taste good.

[Maria]

Maria enters the courtroom fully prepared and carrying a briefcase that's almost as big as she is. Finding her seat at the front of the room she catches the faint aroma of coffee in the air and wonders if she has time to run out for a cup before the trial begins.

[Scarlette]

Scarlette walks slowly into the room with her chin high. Looking around she smirks at the little Mayoress and moves towards her seat, her guards following behind her.

Just before taking her seat on the opposite side of the room from the Mayoress, Scar gave a quick jump towards her guards, who scrambled backwards as she laughed and settles herself in her seat.

She sat with her arms crossed and waited for the others to arrive.

[Xavier]

A dark mist surrounded the chair next to Scarlette and the mist was too thick to see through. It swirled gently and after a few seconds the mist disappeared and Xavier was sitting next to Scarlette on their side of the room and took out from under his robes documents and other things. He chuckled to himself as he removed the hood to reveal his quite appualing appearance. He turned to his client. Okay...so we ready to have some fun! His eyes flared red for a brief second and his body distorted revealing that it was a mere appirition. He tapped his documents on the table and relaxed waiting for the trial to begin.

Homer took a seat in the gallery to observe the proceedings. He wished to learn the culture of this new land and how justice was decided seemed important. Smelling the coffee made him think of the fine pastries of his land, round with a hole in the center... but he must not pine for them.

[Maria]

Maria sees the guards fall back at Scarlette's scare tactic and rolls her eyes. Silly guards. The Viceroy needs to be a little more selective in their hiring process.

[Nathan]

The day began just like any other. Nathan awoke to the feel of his beloved's sleeping form draped over his. The sounds from the flying creatures his father kept in the aerie forced them to finally disentangle from each other and prepare for their daily routines. And much like other mornings, they were reluctant to part before heading to work. He arrived at the courthouse without fanfare of any sort. Inside this building, he was merely a prosecutor. One of many that have served within these walls. His first stop was his office. He picked up the documents he had written and prepared a day before, never bringing work home. A last review of his paper and then off he went to the courtroom. There were already several present, some he recognized and some he did not. He nodded and smiled at those who looked his way and greeted him. Gently, he laid his references on the desk assigned to the prosecution's side and took his seat. Soon the process would begin.

thistle had been watching from the back of the court room, he had got a tall chair and put 2 cushions on it so he would be able to see propperly. he was disspointed when the guards got pertified at scarlette.

he gave them a look to show his disspointment. he was thinking of saying something to them, but that would just make scarlette try and scare them even more...hell, they'd better not do any other acts of cowardness, or he was going to let them know about it...

As the county clerk comes to tell her the major parties in the case are present, she gathers her gavel off her desk and follows them out.

"All rise. Judge Amaia Clifton-Braeden presiding."

Walking to her bench, placing the gavel down and looking at the parties as she sits. Turning to her left she sees the Prosecutor with a grin on his face.To her right the defendant, sitting smirking, making her raise an eyebrow wondering why one in a court trial would think it funny, let alone both sides. Hmmm, this might be a unique case yet, if only she could figure out if what was at the defendant side was her attorney or the gashious remains of the poor woman's last meal.

"Prosecutor Braeden, is the County ready to present it's case?"

[Nathan]

Nathan stood promptly and acknowledged the Judge's words. "Yes, your honor. The prosecution is ready to present." He picked up the papers from his table, separating copies of the main document he had prepared. A total of 6 duplicates were in his hands. He handed five to the Clerk of Court to authenticate the uniformity of the documents and give them to the Plaintiff, the Defendant, the Defense Attorney, the Judge, and the last one for the court's records. With the paperwork provided, he began.

"Your Honor, on the 12th of April 1650, the Town of Paz woke up to the sound of alarm. The guardians of the town hall had just thwarted an attempt to usurp the Office of the Mayor by force. During this failed assault, Scarlette was recognized by the militia. The Prosecution charges the Defendant one count of Public Disorder under the Legal Corpus of the Viceroyalty of Bravia.

The documents I handed to the Clerk of Court contain the original complaint filed by Maria, the Mayor of Paz. This was received by Acting Prosecutor Adonair Braeden. Also attached is the section of the Viceroyalty Legal Corpus that covers revolts and attempted revolts, both falling under the crime of public disorder.

Whenever the Court is ready to proceed, the Prosecution would like to call Maria to the witness stand."

"Greetings Prosecutor Nathan,

I'd like to file charges against Scarlette for a revolt attempt to take over the Paz town hall last night. From all the evidence it appears that she acted alone. The Paz Town Charter and Laws are clearly stickied in the City of Paz forum and state that:

a. Attempted revolt - if not authorized by the Viceroy and/or the citizens of Paz via a public vote, is considered a moderate crime that will result in fines paid to Town Hall plus jail time and/or forced labor.

"I would like to press charges against Scarlette and request that as part of her punishment she be forced to wash the temple windows and also pay any fines, however small, in 1 frez increments donated to the town. Perhaps some good alignment will help her see the error of her ways." [/quote]
