A beak breaks through the hard shell and a small eye peers around. Seeing no one the baby hippogriff crawls toward a fresh pile of meat where it begins to feed.

Slightly dazed by the sudden shout the small creature looks with interest upon the first creature it sees. A small golden light forms in its eyes as a bond is created between the two.

Callie was wandering around the Cork, like all children are wont to do. Well not all, some don't wander unless their parents are with them, but this is Callie, and she isn't exactly your typical child. Besides what fun would it be if she was only seen in the company of her parents? You just can't get into the proper amount of mischief that way.

Anyway, Callie was wandering around the Cork, when she heard a funny noise coming from what looked like a stable. Callie had been to a stable once to ride a pony, but there were only horsie there and daddy had said Callie was too little to ride a horsie by herself, and she didn't want to ride with someone because what was the fun in that, so she didn't ride a horsie or a pony and kept wanting to go back to the stables after that to see if any ponies were there. This seemed to be her chance, maybe the noise she heard were ponies? Then she could ride a pony all by herself, or maybe even a horsie if daddy and mommy didn't find out. Shhhh...don't tell them.

Callie went to the door of the stable and peeked her head around to see if there were any ponies inside. What she saw was much better than ponies. It was babies. Big babies compared to her, but babies none the less. And they were soooo cute. Ohhhhh...cude babbies! Hewwo babbies!

Balerion passing by his stables when he sees that little girl that was always making mischief. Approving of mischief he snuck up close behind her and asked "Do you like them? The big one belongs to my sister Melusine and the smaller one Thistletumbler has bought."

Callie was so engrossed in looking at the baby hippogriffs (no, she hadn't touched them yet, give her time and she might have, but she wasn't sure what baby hippogriffs eat and she didn't want them to think she was food. Besides, she knew they were babies and didn't know if touching them when they were so little--well, little compared to the other ones she knew--would hurt them) that she didn't hear Balerion sneak up behind her. Plus, he was being sneaky, so she probably wouldn't have heard him even if she was paying attention to anything other than the babies. This means when Balerion spoke, it startled the child. Now anyone knows when a child is startled, they jump. And boy did Callie jump, she jumped then fell flat on her bottom on the ground, promptly getting her perfectly clean dress dirty. Callie jumped, then fell, then jumped back up, dusted her bottom off, whirled around and grinned up at Balerion. Hewwo! Yesh, Callie wikes dem. Dey ish pweddy babbies. Callie wikes babbies. Can Callie ped the babbies, or will pedding babbies huwd dem?

You can pet the little one over there. Its owner never seemed to show up. He must have forgot about it somehow... Regardless it already has got its eye on you.

Callie followed his fingers as he gestured towards the littlest of the baby hippogriffs. She was practically dancing with excitement, he had given her permission to pet one. Callie was beside herself (wow, that would be hard to do wouldn't it? Stand, or in this case, dance beside yourself?) Regardless, she was super happy to be able to pet a hippogriff and it took all of her self control (not that she has much, she is only 4 remember) to keep from running over and startling the baby. She walked slowly, carefully, just like her mommy taught her to approach strange animals. Not that she thought hippogriffs were strange, they were cool, exciting, awesome creatures, but not strange to her. Anyway, she walked slowly to the baby and reached a hand out to stroke its neck, totally in awe of it. Hewwo babby, I am Callie. You are pweddy babby.
