(ORP) Jacob looks for the butcher:

Post by JacobSinopa »

The day was mild as the hot sweltering days of summer had not yet arrived, the sun was shining brightly and the sky was blue. Jacob marveled at the city of Imperius and it's peoples it was much larger then he'd ever imagined it would be and it held many grand sights, the only thing he did not like about it was that it was easy for him to get lost in it. He had only just arrived, he found his sister quite unexpectedly on the road going into Imperius in a strange turn of events that he had never expected.

His face was downcast despite the weather and mood of the day, all around him were dozens of hundreds of seemingly happy people going about their day. Jacob missed his mother greatly and every time he thought of her he felt sadness and anger at the same time, he wished she had not broken her own rule, Why? Mom why did you kill him... was the thought that plagued his mind as he recalled the fateful day his mother killed a man who claimed to be his father and then was subsequently killed by people of the village they lived in. He had not seen it but the moment that it happened, he felt his bond with his Mother and along with it a part of him died and it made him very angry.

Things it seemed were better and worse at the same time, his mother had sent him with a letter, how she got it or knew about it he was not sure. The letter was written by another woman to his father about the child she carried, this child was his sister and before the village came for his mother to kill her, she gave him that letter and told him to look in the city of Impirius that is where he would find her. For many days he traveled along the road and one fateful day in the forest on the outskirts of Impiruis he met his sister in an unlikely course of events though he did not know it at the time, a young woman by the name of Ari.

He stayed with her and her family for the night and later that day he wondered into the tavern where he met with her and her adopted Grandmother Sae. It was there in the tavern that Sae suggested the possibility that Ari might be his sister even though he did not know it yet, he decided to ask her as he something deep within him compelled him too. He was glad that he had, it turned out she was indeed his sister and they shared the same father and he was subsequently adopted by Sae as her grandson which he liked very much, he went home with them.

He felt strange having all of these emotions running around in him, he decided to go for a walk and explore the city a little. He did not tell anyone he was leaving or where he was going, he was very nervous about that. Jacob was a half kitsnu half vampire and he was not sure how this new family he'd seemed to find would react to that, they seemed to accept him okay but most mortals were deathly afraid of vampires. Jacob admitted himself they had reason too, but that those reaosn were not the same as they told in thier tales to each other at night and in dark places. His faovrite myth was that vampires could not be out in the sun and hated fire, he loved the sun and he enjoyed playing with fire which was an ability he got from his father being a kitsnu. Nor was he pale skinned, though he could use some sun after the long winter spent mostly indoors.

Jacob decided while he was exploring the city of Imperius to look for a butcher, it was a dangerous mission in some ways. Again as most mortals did not like or accept vampires, their minds were rampant and loaded with myths that were untrue, he could have waited he thought, he was still at full strength he would not need any blood for at least several weeks, but after the week he'd need more or his power level would begin to drop or so he thought. Jacob decided to arrange to buy some pig or cows blood from the butcher for the most part he was an ethical vampire, his mother had made him promise never to kill a human.

He felt sad as he remembered that day she took him out, he had only been three or four he could not remember how old now, but it was in those days she began to explain to him how he should live and conduct his life as a vampire in the world in which they lived. He missed her so much and he'd also broken her promise to him, even though she told him that mortals, humans especially were special people and deserved to be respected. But then he had not expected what happened two days ago, the urge that filled him upon smelling the man's blood, he'd never smelled human blood before, but after killing the man, he understood why she made him promise. Today Jacob felt like he was renewing that promise that he'd not ever drink the blood of a mortal, particularly a human ever again, he'd fight it for all he was worth if he had to. Even with all this in his mind Jacob knew he still needed to survive and the best way was to get the blood of pigs and cows from a willing butcher if he could find one that is.

It was the most beautiful day that started the summer. An had an early start this morning getting one of her cows out of the field to take it to the butcher workshop. She always had a mixed feeling the days she was about to slaughter as she respected and loved the beauty of the cow but knew she was needed for her meat too. An patted the neck of the cow as she guided the cow through the streets to her workplace. After putting a spell on the cow to let it go to sleep she killed it and let the blood run out.
After that she cut up the cow into pieces to make steaks from it. After a few hours of long hard work she began to feel her muscles hurting. An grinned thinking of the easy to do this: just cast a spell and the meat was cut. But she was starting to love this physical work. She was indeed growing muscles now and new that might be handy in case of a fight and her spells did not work. She always had her body to trust upon.
An looked outside and saw that the sun had risen to a point nearby midday. She decided to take a break and as she stepped outside her shop she cleaned her bloody hands on her apron and looked up into the sun, taking her hair out of her face by a gesture with her arm and hand. She looked around and saw a stranger walking into town. An smiled and leaned against the door pillar, her face up towards the sun, enjoying the warmth of it. She closed her eyes and heard the stranger walking further into town and knew he had seen her.

As Jacob walked into the city he felt strange, as if someone was watching him, without even looking he knew it was a woman, he did not turn back though and continued further into town. As he made his way to the center square of the town and looking for butcher shops, he noted the beauty and grandeur of the place. It looked as though it was meant for a kind of royalty, stately and ornate buildings and columns lined the streets. Over all it had kind of a Greek feel to it, as if had he been in Athens he read about in books this is what it would look like. He passed a marble fountain in which statues spewed water out of their mouths and Jacob wondered what possessed people to design such a thing that would depict water constantly spewing out of a persons mouth.

It was not something you ever saw in paintings or you saw a person do in real life and yet here it was depicted for all the world to see and admire. Jacob stopped by the fountain and took out a copper coin, he'd heard that sometimes people left coins in fountains, there was not any in this one so it was only a fountain. Jacob decided to put the coin in anyways, maybe it would bring him luck today, maybe not, he flipped the coin in the air and it went over his head and landed with a plop in the fountain and sank to the bottom. Jacob quickly made his way to the first butcher he saw, he spoke with the man a few minuets but was run out quickly and told never to come back. Then it was on to the next...

During a deep conversation with Sae about the whole moving in thing, Ari realized that her new younger brother was nowhere in sight. Immediately fretting, the girl quickly set off from her adopted grandmother - a woman who was actually younger than Ari, Sae was nineteen and Ari was twenty - to find Jacob. Humming a light tune in attempt to keep a light mood, she walked through the streets of Imperius, unsure where to look. Where would an eleven year old boy go?

Sighing softly, she asked some people if they had seen him as she passed, but no one could give a definite yes. Fiddling with the ends of her blouse, Ari paused, looking around.
How on earth did I lose him already? It's only been two days.. She muttered to herself. Some big sister she was... Guess I'm just used to having an eighteen year old brother verses an eleven year old... She reasoned with herself. Shrugging, she started off on her search again.

Pausing, she saw An outside her shop. Ari had never really talked to An, but had seen her from a distance a few times and knew of her. Her jade eyes danced over An's features for a brief moment before approaching her, a small smile on her lips.

Hi.. I don't think we've meet. I'm Ari. She paused, chewing her lip. I'm looking for someone.. A little boy; green eyes, redish blonde hair... Sorta.. And is about.. Uhm.. This tall? She held her hand to the height of her nose. Ari was a fairly short person, about 5'3", whereas Jacob was close to five.
