[ORP] Flight to a Freedom, of sorts...

In the forests somewhere outside of Widu, she spied a fallen tree and decided to take a small rest. Colette sat down, lifting her skirts above her knees so she could clean off her shoes which had become rather dirty from her rambles. She sighed.

It wasn't so much that he had been cruel. He hadn't been; not in any obvious way, at least. If he'd only told her the truth, though! Finding letters about yourself, which made it obvious that your father and his cohorts knew far more about you than you did yourself, that was simply intolerable. And was her mother still on the isle? Had she moved when the isle had been evacuated? Colette didn't know. Two things had become clear, however.

First, it had become clear that Colette's mother had not abandoned them when she was a child, as her father had always said. Secondly, it was clear that he had lied to her about that, and probably about many other things as well, and his efforts to marry her off to would be necessarily thwarted by her flight.

So, there she was, old enough to marry but not so old as to attract no attention if seen travelling alone. Her voice was still accented by the language she'd spoken until she was eight, the language her mother had spoken and which her father had forbidden her. She could still remember some of it, although the passage of time and disuse had erased much of the vocabulary. In a fit of pique, she decided to use as much as she could remember, if for no other reason than because he had told her not to. She had very little money, no immediate prospects, and knew no one.

But the forest was large, and there were berries and nuts to be found, and she hadn't seen any dangerous-looking animals yet. So that was all to the good. There might be people there, as well, whom she hadn't seen yet. Plus which, introductions and small backstories being customary, what better place for them than in a forest?

Seeing a smallish looking humanoid through the trees Balerion was intrigued why one would be alone and unarmed. Being intrigued he deigned to find out. Seeing as how its very hard for dragons to sneak through woods he decided to whisper out to the little one to find out what had made her do something so dangerous. It simply didn't make any sense.

Little one, what are you doing out in the open with nothing to protect you? Surely you know its dangerous.
