The newest little smith of Paz.

Post by Ember232 »

Pup had finally earned a place of her own by trading some of the Freznics she had gathered from the woods and pathways over her life in the woods around the city of Paz, it was not very furnished, only having four walls, a roof, a small cot and a fire pit. But it was perfect for the little forest girl, she didn't like having too much in her home, and the best part of the place was it was not far from her friend Arkies home, and still rather in the woods.

But Pups biggest achievement was finding employment in town. She had impressed one of the few local blacksmiths when she had asked to look into his furnace, he thought he'd play a joke on the girl by billowing the flame so it would burst out, she would be far enough back so she would not be hurt, but surely it would make her jump.

She didn't flinch. Not in the least. She was, in fact, amazed. She had always thought fire a relatively bad thing-she used to fear it more then anything else in the world- but seeing it being used to craft something, these beautiful tools, it made her want something. truly want to do something besides helping Arkie at her home or wandering the woods and town.

And so she became the town of Paz's newest, and smallest blacksmiths apprentice.

(My first real created thread here, go easy on me. x3)

Pup got dressed and ready for her first day of tutelage under the blacksmith-whos name she never learned, but then, he had never told her either, and Adonair had always said information would only come if it wished to be found. or was it information would only be found if you wished to find it... one of those two.

She did not need the fireproofing, but being nude in the shop probably would attract the wrong kind of attention, considering her small form, the smithy gave her a big apron to wear, to cover herself. Otherwise, her hands and feet were bare. She started with the basics, learning how to hold a hammer. Pup had been Practicing(or playing, depends on your choice of words) with a Sword she had purchased from the markets a while ago, so she knew how to hold a weapon. " A hammer is not a weapon. It is a tool. " he said, smiling. " but if you want to look at it that way, the hammer is your weapon, and the hot blade is your target, but you must hit your target perfectly, so as not to damage the blade- " Pup, being her free-speaking self, interrupted. " But I thought you WANTED to damage your target.. " the Smithy chuckled. " not this one, you must make this enemy bend to your will by striking it with a hammer to shape it while it is burning hot. " he showed her how you could melt an Iron Bar and form it into a roughly sword like shape, heating ti then hammering it down, then letting it cool, then repeating until it was the correct shape.

" but thats all jagged and ugly. " Pup muttered, looking over the rough hunk of pointy iron. " Indeed it is, we will cover fine crafting another day little one, for now, practice your hammer swings. " Pup nodded and took the hammer from him. It was a little big for her arm, but she held it well enough, she raised it up like he had done-a little to high, and brought it down without more then a blink, striking the stone the Anvil sat on, the hammer bouncing back and nearly hitting her in the nose. " oh! careful! " he showed her the proper way to hold it and how to let it bounce a little into her palm so it would not come back at her face. She nodded, trying again, the hammer bounced up a little, but much less then before. " well get you a more size respective hammer later, for now, keep practicing. "
