She glanced sidelong at him as he asked, trying to ignore the tenseness in her belly. Fire flashed across the silent fields, black smoke billowing across the red sky. Imperceptibly she shook her head, banishing the memory from her mind. Why could she not forget it? She desperately hoped they would fade, eventually, but it had been almost a year since that fateful day yet her memories were just as vivid. "There's little enough to tell, really," she said slowly, hesitantly. "The Clan was settled in the forest, three, maybe four days' walk from here. We kept to ourselves, mostly. Humans are...an unpredicatable sort." She gave a slight shrug, almost apologetic, though she was unsure why. Did he still count himself among the humans?

Darkness fell quickly as the sun dipped below the horizon, dark purple chasing away the faded red painted across the sky. "So, what brings you back to Paz? I don't think you mentioned what business you had there," she asked, her voice carrying more interest than was genuine. She was more trying to shift the focus from herself, hoping he would not notice.

Noting her swift change of subject he glances sidelong at her, not wanting to press her he smiles "I suppose it was just time to go home, im sure enough time has passed for the memories to have faded, even for me" he goes on to tell her about his wife and son, and what happened that night with Modius.

"So you see, me disappearing suddenly will have raised more than its share of suspicions" Thinking ahead to arriving in the town he wonders if many will remember his face, the sad story will be remembered, something as horrific as that happening in a small town never left, as the darkness grow his eyes shine more brightly, he turns to her, "You'll be needing something soon" he looks at his wrist then back into her eyes, even though they were as dark as obsidian they also seemed to shine in the dark, hoping she understood what he meant.

She caught his eyes and suppressed a grimace. So that's what that growing pressure was - not quite hunger, but a persistant desire for something she couldn't quite put her finger on. Barely suppressing a shudder at herself, she quickly glanced away from his wrist. That was not something she had quite come to terms with yet, that she would have to drink his blood to continue to live, even if it was only a few drops. She had managed to push it from her mind enough to be able to sleep, but it all came rushing back now. "Ahh," she shook her head slightly, "Not just yet. Maybe when we're a little further from Bravia and the farms. Someone might wonder if they saw." She winced slightly to herself, wondering if he thought her excuse was as weak as she did.

"Understandable, you probably get enough inquisitive looks as it is, youre not exactly inconspicous" laughing gently he looks back over the fields and towards the town now on the horizon, even though it was dark, it was still early in the evening and there would be people around, although he couldnt see anyone.

"Theres a small forrest a few miles down the road, i was thinking we could set up camp there, at least get some shelter from a frost" the nights could be cold this time of year, although he wasnt sure how she would cope in these conditions.

Walking on as the darkness deepens, the fields slowly becoming less and less, the area becoming less cultivated as they near the treeline. Approaching the forrest, the dark form silohetting the dark sky, he thinks about collecting some wood for a small fire.

"Theres a nice spot over there by the stream, I'll get some wood for a fire, keep the cold away from us"

She glanced over at him through the darkness and gave a slight nod; taking a short rest would do them both well. The cold didn't touch her as it did other people; the effects of heat and cold were tempered by a constant state of concentration, but that did not mean her body didn't feel it. Periodically she would have to warm her body up, so it would not succumb to the elements before she could realize what was happening. As they approached the stream she pulled her bag from her shoulder, setting it on the ground at a likely spot. While Hephastion was gathering wood, she pulled a couple of logs over for seating; it wasn't much, and far from comfortable, but it would get them off the cold ground.

The wood he brought was still somewhat damp from the frost, but she channeled weaves of fires into the sticks until they dried enough to catch and burn. She held her hands over the growing flames, tingling almost painfully as the heat banished the encroaching cold. A few minutes passed between them, their silence punctuated by the snap of the fire. As best she could, she ignored the persistant want she had begun to recognize as her strange, afflicted hunger. It might go away if she ignored it. Maybe. "How often do you need to..." she trailed off, not entirely sure how to ask. "I mean, do you feel..." she shook her head slightly, blushing nervously. As much as she told herself that she was alright with what he was, she was unsure of herself.

Watching as she prepares the fire, he relaxes on the log. Wondering what she carries in her bag, he supposes she'll have a small pot and items to prepare food, burdens he would never have to care for, having not eaten or at least successfully in thirty years the taste of food and drink lost to him, he looks at her as she speaks.

Assuming she is asking about his feeding habits "Depends, I took enough from you to last me a couple of days, until we reach Paz at least" as for the next question, he couldnt guess what she meant without finishing her sentence.

"As for you, you will need a few drops of my blood daily, but dont worry, I have these" pulling out small glass phails from his pocket "They will hold my blood for a few days, I will always make sure you have enough should I not always be around" telling her he had a man in the North make them, he specialised in glass and baubles for decoration, even though she was bound to him, he explained after taking her blood he was bound to her, feeling what she feels, knowing her emotions, if he let her die, part of him would die, driving him closer towards the beast.
