Duelling Circle

Post by Morghain »

Tucked off to the side of the Training grounds lies a large, fenced off dirt circle. Here it is possible for those who have had their own honor or that of someone they know, to have their honor appeased in a duel.

In all likelihood, the duels that took place in the circle would not just be for honor sake. Many in town enjoyed a good fight merely for the sake of the challenge. Here was a place where all would be free to sake their thirst for blood sport.

Perhaps one day, some enterprising soul would even make their fortune on the results of the duels that occured on these grounds.

(ooc: for those who have or will be involved in duels, please feel free to rp the fights here! I'm sure we will all be entertained by the different match ups :D)

After she had recuperated from her last duel, Morghain found herself thoroughly hooked on this duelling process. After some consideration, she decided to invite her cousin, Misty, to dance with her in the duelling circle. She did hope that Misty would know her well enough to know that there was no way she had offended her or anything. After all, if this were about honor, Morgy would have challenged her to the death rather than first blood. No this was merely for fun and entertainment purposes.

With a flourish, she penned the invitation and sent it off via a messanger. If Misty accepted, come sunrise, she would be meeting her lovely cousin right here in the duelling circle.

Strolling around town Misty stops and reads the duelling notice, her eyes widen when she see's that her name is listed for a duel with Morg, her dear cousin. Seeing that it is only to first blood she see's the sense of humour in Morg's decision to challenge her and thinks ...
Bring it on cousin :D

After receiving Misty's acceptance of her challenge, Morgy had spent the remainder of the night in a state of impatient excitement. Just before sunrise, she closed the book she had been trying to study and dashed down to the Duelling Circle. She'd chosen today to just wear her basic practice leathers and her sword since this wasn't to be too serious a fight. After limbering up, she steps onto the dirt to await Mistys arrival.

Malan strolled down to the new duelling ring to watch Morghain and Misty.

"It should be a good fight," she thought, "I'm glad no one has gotten around to charging for tickets yet."

She smiled remembering her own recent duel. She'd been quite surprised to be challenged but her opponent had turned out to be quite a gentleman. He'd even picked up her gloves for her.

She wondered if she could get some fighting tips from watching Morghain and Misty since during her duel she'd mostly just flailed around hoping to hit something by accident.

Still awaiting Mistys arrival, and starting to wonder if her cousin had managed to get herself lost on her way, Morgy spotted Malan. She lifts a hand to her in greeting then walks over and asks, "Hello, Miss Malan. I don't suppose you saw hide or hair of my cousin on your way down here, did you?"

Rohnar had been plowing the wheat field of a baker in town. The woman, whom he gathered was named Ayla, had conveyed she needed a hired hand and he was familiar with the tools but spoke only fragments of their language. Which made it all the more awkward when young man came running into the field and kicking up a cloud of dust behind him, ruining several furrows that were just plowed. Giving a quick growl at the damage he lifted himself upright and took the folded message gave it a once over.

Calico, hmmm. Duel...? Einvigi! This man must have tried to find some offense for a duel for Rohnar had surly given none but if it was a matter of honor then there would be no refusing the challenge. He finished the task and made his way back into town to find the dueling arena. The place was marked out by a fence surrounding the lists and should be easy to find, and indeed it was. Whoever this Calico Jack was he would not go for wanting of a fight, only if he refused to show that is. Fyrir Virðingar! Respect and honor.

Noticing the time, Misty drops everything and rushes to the duelling circle, hoping that Morg would still be there. Seeing Miss Malan was there and another person whom she did not know, Misty suddenly became nervous. She then see's Morg warming up on the far side of the circle. Misty takes a deep breath and takes her sword out of the sheath and runs her finger down the blade.

Before Malan can reply, Morgy spots Misty, " Oops never mind, I see her."

Waving Misty over, she hollars at her, "Come on, old girl! we've got some fun to be had!" Having said that, she skips back over into the centre of the circle and gestures to Misty in cheeky challenge.

Eyeballing Morg with a sly grin Misty steps into the centre of the circle. Moving her right leg backwards to stand her ground she brings her arm up as if to make the first hit, Okay my dear cousin, this will brighten my otherwise boring day.
