A Visit

Post by balerion »

After flying for several hours of flying Balerion descended from the skies over Paz. He was quite tired after and a little hungry after the flight so he decided to skip going to the market and head straight for the gates with the giant P above them.

A shadow flickers across her window as she sits in the library overlooking the front gate, tendrils of smoke curl through the air and if one traced the smoke to it's source they would see hand prints etched into the wooden table. A perfect imprint of where her palm had rested as her fingers tapped. Evidence of her spent ire.

A frown furled across her brow and she wondered what matter of disturbance and she was sure a disturbance was certain to follow as the bright blue sky gave evidence that no clouds were casting shadows.

She rose and made her way to the door to investigate.

Walking across the lush grass Balerion sighs as it coolly tickles. The trees look so inviting be he knows that it might be safer to ask permission first. One does not lightly anger one such as the resident. Carefully checking to see that the package is still in prime condition Balerion makes his way to the door and he sees sweeping black through the windows. With a smile showing almost all of his teeth he knock on the door and quickly darts behind some of the nearby giant shrubbery.

A knock sounds on the door before she even makes her way across the library. She gives a quick perusal of her home. It is not large by many standards which suited her well. Everything was well made and crafted with care. The craftsmen had not wanted to make a mistake after they had seen ... ah! but the wrought iron work throughout the house and hand carved mantles and panels were well worth the effort.

The layout of the house was typical. One walked into an entry hall with a staircase on one side that led to the sleeping chambers. The dark wood of the treads and intricately forged railings almost had the air of a spider's web clinging to the wall; the breadth of the stairs the only thing keeping them from being too stifling. To the right is a large entertaining room and the newness of the upholstery showed how little visitors were welcomed into her home. To the left was her library, the only room below-stairs that seemed lived in. The leather bindings of her books shine and the room has a lived in feeling. Along the back of the house was a butler's pantry attached to a small kitchen and large dining room. Unused. Outbuildings provided space for her experiments and a large kitchen still stood from times when the previous owner would entertain.

It is with a low growl in her throat that she lifts the timber barring the door. This had better be good or someone would have regrets. She pulls the door open and is startled to see no one waiting. She curls her fingers into her palms and forms small orbs of her aura. Tentatively she walks onto the wide porch. Still no one. Another step. She curses someone's twisted sense of humor. Another step.

Seeing Peronell has summoned a light Balerion decides to do the same. However he does so and has it whisk over to the other side of Peronell before shimmering brightly enough that it might be seen. Balerion does all he can not to laugh and barely succeeds. Now all he can do is wait and watch...

Instinctively she raises her hand and throws the orb at the shimmering mass that flared up in her line of sight. The two energies collide and disappear with a bang of bright light and sound.

She knows someone is playing and she centers her thoughts and focuses. Knowing the game of distraction she turns away from the noise of energies colliding and sees nothing but shrubbery. A perfect place to hide.

A wicked grin curls her lips and she begins to recite words of majic. She chants the words taught to her by a professor of dark arts and watches as the boughs and limbs of the shrubbery begin to writhe as they sense intruders and try to bind them tightly.

Suddenly trapped by the foliage Balerion does what any sensible dragon would and sets it on fire. Free within instants he is now also completely exposed...

She watches her shrubbery go up in flames and frowns delicately as her intruder comes into view.

I'd say welcome, but it took me ages to get those shrubs that tall.

Peronell dips into a mock curtsy and extends a hand elegantly toward her guest.

To what do I owe the pleasure?

Well... I had come bearing gifts but I think it just managed to get melted. It seems all that is left is the crystal rose.

Gifts? Hmmm... she straightens and looks at the flower he is holding.

Gorgeous. her inquiring mind takes over and she questions him Magical fire? Or will any rose when heated turn to crystal?

She steps closer to him for a closer look and crunches a charred branch with her shoe.

I suppose the neighbors will be trying to find out what happened here. Would you like to go inside?
