[ORP] A New Begining

Post by Tuvoria »

As the sun crested over the horizon and began to break through the mists and the morning haze, an enigma emerges from the forest depths. Dressed in dark earthy tones, a rather tall sylvan elf strolls into a small clearing. His jet black hair is tied behind his back and you gent a hit of a dark blue hint to his eyes. When he arrives at the center of the clearing, he kneels down running his hands and fingers through the grass and the cool, moist air. If you listen carefully you can hear him murmur:

"The lifeforce runs strong here in this soil. The Mages have indeed blessed this earth. Corn should do well here. Hopefully there is more life within the city and they have honored the Mages by having plenty of green areas and parks."

The lone figure then rooms his pack from his back and appears to set up a small shrine before himself as he faces the rising sun. Tilting his head back and lifting his arms out wide and high, the mysterious elf seems to be basking in and absorbing the sun's light. However, you notice that as he does so, his penetrating eyes are constantly keeping a watch on the shadows. When his eyes fall upon you, you shake your head as you believe he just winked and cracked a small wry smile in your direction.

After about 30 minutes, the elf picks up his belongs, and heads over towards the cemetery on the outskirts of town. He looks are the surroundings and mutters somethings along the lines of
:

"Nice garden keeping here, even if there is to much stone surrounding it."

The mysterious stranger then spends the next hour or so meticulously going over and improving the followers, trees, and landscaping of the area before heading towards the main city gate. Upon reaching the gate, he pauses to notice the woodworking of the area. Smiling to himself, he breaks out a small smile, shakes his head, and having ensured his pack is firmly upon his shoulders, passes through the gate and into the city proper..... (to be continued)

... As the mysterious elf passed through the gates, he could still feel the cloudy, but intense, gaze upon him from near the woods. He found it comforting in a way and at the same time funny that none who walked by or near the gate could sense or see the wonderful creature laying just outside the walls. The elf continued on into the town, exploring what was to become his new home. He stopped by the town hall to officially register as an inhabitant and acquire a small place to call his own. He was directed to a small, somewhat run down place on the far side of town overlooking the orchard. He immediately fell in love with the place. After settling in a bit and making it feel more homey, the elf set out to investigate the market. He quickly made some purchases and then headed out of town towards the orchard, his purchases still in tow under his arm. Once in the orchard, he removed his boots and tucked them under his belt. He seemed to enjoy having the cool earth under his feet. He causally then made his way through the orchard. He then paused as he saw a half hidden shack almost in line with the unseen beauty he knew that had been watching him earlier. If one looked closely they could almost claim they saw a smile appear on his normally stoic face. Plucking a piece of fruit, he added it to his wares and seemingly disappeared as he "melted" into the forest as he made his way towards the shack. Seeing that no one was around, he placed his wares upon the door step: a nice bright orange, a lavender rose, a fresh chicken, and a dagger sized piece of carved oak with the emblem of an acorn in the center....

Always and forever she would meticulously tend to the flowers planted upon her brothers grave. Her brow furrowed as she did so, as it wasn't even clear to her why she went through the motions. It was his fault, wasn't it? Don't you harbour contempt for the man that you thought you always knew so well? Standing, her thin cloth shift of a gown flowed to the side as a breeze pushed it against her calf. But as soon as the slight wind came, it was gone again. And with it, it stole every single sound from the area.

An odd feeling came over her and she gathered her little broken bucket with the oranges inside. It was time to move along. She was quiet and to her self most times. More out of fear for the unknown of herself. She had come to believe isolation to be the best answer until she understood more, yet she knew that it wasn't a healthy way of life. Quickly, she made her way down a lightly worn path that took her away from her most frequented place, and beyond the outer skirting of town, to a place that peacefully opens up, but offers a not-so-obvious place to slip into the shadows of the treeline, where she can melt away from the rest of the world. But there, she pauses. Still no sound could be heard. As if in the presence of someone or something, the animals and birds that can normally be heard scurrying around, had somehow taken their leave.

Instinctively she stepped close to a large tree. An arm clings to it to keep it her steady, taking care to balance her bucket in the other hand. Looking back the way she has just come, she sees nothing of importance. The clearing before her she looks it over for a few seconds. Closing her eyes, she took in her surroundings in a way that was new to her, but was becoming more familiar to her.. her senses heightening, she draws a deep quiet breath. When her eyes open, her gaze falls upon a moving figure. One she has never seen before, but is quite captivating enough for her to remain still instead of fleeing. She observes his movements, curiously, as she finds them peculiar. And then something she believes she had to have imagine happened. Had those eyes spotted her? Was that a wry smile to confirm? No, it was imagined. It had to have been. With a slight shake of her head, she decides it was a mistake.

She remained, watching, unmoving. In a way, she felt as though she was invading a certain privacy, but she couldn't remove herself. She waited until he had gone before she dared to take herself off toward her home. The small bucket of oranges in hand, finally she turned away from the now empty scene. There would be time to take the oranges to the market later. The figure, however, wouldn't easily leave her mind.

A new day was dawning, and the elf still couldn't shake the image of the creature in the meadow from his mind. Something about it seemed to be calling to him. Quickly preparing himself for the day, he grabs a loaf of bread and a piece of chicken, and heads out to the Orchard. He stays on the edge of things remaining slightly hidden until he reaches the Orchard proper. Wanting to feel the comfort of the earth, he removes his boots and places them in his pack. Smiling as he wriggles his toes in the cool morning dirt. After a few moments he heads into a small clearing he found yesterday that is located near the center of the Orchard. Setting his pack down, he raises his arms and greets the morning sun. After basking in the glow, he moves over towards a tall oak nestled amongst the fruit trees. Setting his pack down, he leans back against the tree and takes out the chicken and the bread. Not knowing if the mysterious person/being is around he says to the air:

"I know you saw me and I know you felt me see you. Feel free to come out of the shadows friend and join me for breakfast. Peace and tranquility shall remain here in the woods, the way the Great Mages intended it. No harm shall I bring unto you."

He then sits back to see what shall transpire as he tries to think upon the images he saw yesterday upon his arrival.

As the day began to turn into early evening, Tuvoria did not see or sense the presence in his area of the Orchard. Before heading home he carefully made his way back towards the hidden shack to see if his gifts had been found. Staying to the trees he noticed that indeed the gifts had been found. He wasn't sure if he saw things correct, but it seemed to him that the rose was placed in a vase and set up near a window. Smiling to himself he quickly and quietly melted back into the forest and made his way back to his place. Lighting the wall sconces, he set about starting a fire and putting on a kettle of tea. Settling into his one comfy chair, the elf pulls out his favorite book and begins to lose himself within its pages. His thoughts become interrupted by the thoughts of what he saw in the clearing and he drifts from thinking of her to reading his book and back again. About 2 hours after the sun had gone down he is jolted from his distractions by the sounds of what appears to be a hunt or a battle. He can clearly pick out two distinct entities by the sounds. One appears to be that of one of the many vermin that plague the woods in these parts. The other, seems to be of a beast of some type, perhaps a wolf, but at the same time somewhat human. The elf shook his head, no it can be can it? Not in these woods? He quickly jumped out of his chair. Thoughts of the safety of the vision he had seen in the clearing raced through his mind. He put out some of his candles and glanced out the window. His elven eyes unable to discern anything but the trees and a couple of raccoons huddling in the trees. He hoped that she was safe, but he realized if the creature had remained away from his abode, perhaps they had left her alone as well. It was then that he remembered that his cousin, Gawain, was soon to arrive. He offered up a small prayer to the Mages for his safety. Finishing his tea, he put out the lights and settled in for the night, determined to arise early to see if he could find out what it was he heard, check on the maiden in the shack, and listen to the morning symphony of nature in the Orchard as the sun arose to call the world to the new day.

The hunt had been a great success, but tiring. Four creatures in all, slain. This was the toughest fight she had yet faced, and was triumph in. She had only suffered mild injuries.. all of which would heal by the mornings light. The fourth had caught her off-guard though. This far out of the way, the noises of the battles rarely drifted toward town, but this time, she had been careless. The cut upon her upper-arm and into her shoulder had made her yipe out in pain. It also fed her fever. The kill had been one of the swiftest retaliations.

Before she shifted, she searched the area... Any more were either long gone or hiding. As her natural born form returned, she searched out the small pack that was near by. It contained 2 things, and always would. A clean white chemise and a burlap sack, to haul in anything of value or use. The chemise she donned made her look almost ghostly in the moonlight that filter through some of the trees. Her bare feet padded softly against the earth as she moved around each creature to be sure their life had been spent. They were foul smelling, but not anything the wilderness animals wouldn't take care of in a day or so.

As moved from creature to creature, she looted the bodies and found a good deal of wealth upon the creatures. 'Thieves. Bloody thieves.' She said out-loud. When she stood, she swung the loot bag over her shoulder, and heard herself whimper with pain. She had already forgotten about the injury when the movement and the consequential heft of her find landed upon the injury. Her body was used to the punishment she put it through constantly, but some wounds went deep. She feared this could be the case again. She couldn't worry about that now, she had to return to see to the damage to determine how long she would need to rest to regenerate.

As she walked away, her battle could have been seen as quite savage. She left the creatures without a care for the forest to take care of, the loot, that was quite another matter. It would be returned to the town in a round about way without anyone ever knowing what was happening. She had many secrets. One being that she purchased most everything and anything off of the market that was priced under 3f. And what did she do with those items? She donated them to the town and to the Basilica. Many times she had purchased things from the Basilica only to re-donate them. It was a cycle that she believed in. It put money back to where it should be.. rather than in the hands of creatures that didn't need it.

As she entered her home she set the bag near the door, and lit a candle in a holder. A good deal of blood had soaked her shift. Upon pulling the fabric aside at the neck to gain access to the injury, she could see it was a nice slice, if slices could be considered nice... The cut was clean, rather than jagged and would heal with very little scarring. Scars, were something she had many of as of late. She hoped they would fade with time, but until she found a poultice that helped with that, she would have to live with it. The consequences of not hunting, was far too great. She could live with a scar. She couldn't live with harming people.

Fatigue began to pull at her, and she didn't even change out of her bloodied shift. The reason she chose it was for the simple fact that it acted as a clean bandage. Moving toward her bed, her body relished its not so softness as she sank upon it. And as the darkness filtered in around her, no dreams would come this night.

The sun would be well awake before she made to move from her bed again.

Tuvoria awoke early, resfreshed himself, packed his bag, and headed out towards the Orchard before the sun rose. His thoughts were still disturbed by the noises he had heard during the night. As he journied to his favorite clearing, he kept an even more keen vigil. As he neared the clearing, he disturbed a group of vultures greedily devouring a recent kill. The elf could tell a battle had occured but only saw one set of remains. He immediately became concerned for the female figure he had seen. As his thoughts grew mire concerned he made his way to the clearing to go through his morning ritual. The elf decided he would spend most of the day here and if he didn't spot here he would check on the shack.

As the sun began to rise on a new day, Gawain awoke in his room in the inn. He had traveled to Widu to visit his cousin, Tuvoria. Having arrived late in the evening the day before yesterday and tired from his long journey he had thought it best to not call around to see his cousin yesterday, but rest up and relax. Gawain is a half-elf with a human father and Tuvoria is his cousin as Gawain's mother had been a sylvan elf who was Tuvoria's aunt.

It was hopefully going to be a pleasant day, he had not seen his cousin in quite some time, and he was looking forward to catching up with him and then perhaps go for a walk in the orchard later in the day as being part sylvan, he loved to spend time in the outdoors, communing with nature.

As he prepared for the day ahead, dressing as he usually did in nature's colour tones so he chose earthen tones this morning, he gave thanks to the Mages again that he had arrived safely in Widu. He packed a knapsack and left the inn. He had decided he was going over to his cousin's place and then go for a walk in the orchard later in the day, but as he drew near the orchard, he felt drawn to it as it looked beautiful in the early morning mists so he decided to go for a walk there first and call upon his cousin later in the morning. He began to make his way through the trees and after he had been walking for a while, he could see a clearing up ahead so he began to make his way towards it.

As Tuvoria rested up in one of the apple trees on a large branch mindlessly eating a juicy apple as he hoped to see or encounter the woman he had seen in the distance a few days ago. It intrigued him that she had penetrated his thoughts and focus so much with just the brief encounter. He was also still concerned about the sounds last night and the site of the battle this morning. As he was pondering these things he was not sure if he felt or sensed someone approaching. At first he thought it was her, but then he realized that presence was not her, but it seemed familiar. Easing himself up against the trunk to somewhat hide, he looked about to see who was approaching. He soon spotted the individual and he shook his head. "No" he thought. "It couldn't be." As he peered deeper, the Elf recognized the figure, someone he hadn't seen for at least 5 years. Smiling to himself, he chucked the apple in the direction of the new arrival as he jumped down from the tree branch.

"Well I'll be an orc's uncle! Is that you Gawain? How have you been Cousin? How is aunt Helodia?"

Tuvoria then gives his cousin a friendly hug as he continues saying:

"Please come out of the sun and join me at the base of this tree. So when did you get here in Widu?"

Tuvoria then sits under the tree, but in a manner that still allows him to keep a good look over much of the Orchard.

As she entered the orchard, she made her way to her favorite place to pick. But upon arrival, she noticed that the fruits were much too high up. Others, it was obvious, had also decided the place was a good one. She smiled. It was like that at times, and she didn't mind. But it forced her to move further into the orchard away from the treeline.

As she walked, voices carried to her upon the light breeze. Nothing she could make out, of course, but this was common. Others were there to do the same exact thing that she was. Moving further on, her eyes were focused upon the ground rather than ahead of her. Suddenly she was upon them, their voices seemed raised in some form of excitement. And she stopped abruptly, bursting in on the scene unintentionally, in a way that could have been seen as quite invasive.

Drawing her hand to the base of her throat, she was surprised by the two men there. 'Oh, pardon me.' She said quietly, in an attempt to say she was sorry. It was in the fashion of when strangers exchanged pleasantries when they rubbed shoulders or bumped into one another by accident in a busy market. But she then realized who was before her. You. She wanted to say, but didn't. She just looked from one to the other, and back to the one she had seen before.. No, had seen her, she corrected herself. A growing feeling of the need to flee blossomed, yet she felt rooted in her place. It was all quite odd and uncomfortable, which brought a deepening redness to her cheeks quickly for her abrupt appearance, with thoughts of what to do next close behind.
