The Sun Wyrm Contract - Journal Entry
I have been given a contract to killa sun Wyrm, upon asking what the owner sought from the creature I was given a strange box that will be able to store the dead creature inside. How it will do this I do not know but so long as it works … I have a book mentioning the creatures abilities which I must read before I battle it, it should be a fair challenge considering I have no potions. I will have to rely on my Witcher signs and skill with a silver sword to defeat this monster.
“It’s a deal.”
The words left the Witchers mouth as he shook the hand of the owner and accepted his first contract in these lands. Chance had given him the opportunity to meet a rather strange yet powerful being, Teide. This Halfling was the owner of the only known alchemy shop in the lands and thus will be the only source of unique goods that Reaver will need in future, but the most important part was that he’d been given a contract that would provide him with the nessesary ingredients for potions.
To Reaver SIlverstone,

So you are planning to make a mark of yourself in this realm. Just make sure you don't make yourself a nuisance because Secfenia has several races and many mixed breeds. So We'll give you a contract to start you off.

In the enclosed package is a book containing the stats on a sun wyrm. If you go to the plains just north of Widu beyond the mountains you'll find Sunwyrms. It's a type of wurm and if you don't know what a wurm is you're in the wrong business.

For the agreed price Tricks and Giblets Alchemy and Magic Shoppe will resupply your needs of alchemy ingredients and potions. If you want enchantments or magical items or tomes...you pay. We supply all of that stuff and more.

This should be simple as they aren't too much a challenge in comparison to dragons. Good luck and if you get eaten I claim your leftovers.

Miss T. Di Carpietra.

He knew little about Sun Wyrms, the only dragon types he’d ever hunted were forktail dragons and even then he hadn’t been the one to kill the creature. This would prove even more a challenge without any potions, any Witcher knew that potions gave a higher chance of success yet only the bold fought monsters without them. Yet he still had his signs and skills with the silver sword all he would need was to use his brain and think of a way to defeat the creature as quick and efficently as possible. The idea of fighting a dragon itself was, unsettling.

Reaver took the book into a quiet corner of the tavern, if that was even possible. The flames flickered as peasants and other creatures entered the tavern leaving muddy footprints and spilt ale in their wake. There seemed to be a fight everyday it normally was either one of two, a verbal fight or a physical one. Reaver had little desire to get involved even less when he had work, he took out his journal an made an entry for the job. He then opened up the Sun Wymn book and began reading.

-Book-
-Sun Wyrm-
A subspecies of Dragons, weaker and smaller than the usual dragon these creatures are still twice the size of an ordinary man. Most notably, several parts of its body can be made to glow with a blinding light, in particular a large globe at the end of its tail provides such light. This creature is no push over due to its ability to fly and its strong prowess in physical combat thanks to its double set of forelimbs and back legs.

It was apparent that Reaver would have difficulty fighting this creature head on, he’d have to find a way of crippling it or at least get it to stay on the ground long enough for him to get to it before it flew off. He flicked through the pages and put the book down once he was satisfied with the information he had gathered, it was time to pack some food and head out to the plains north of Widu and its mountains, it was quite a trek but in the end it was worth it.

"This should be interesting..." he muttered to himself.

First he needed to figure a way to weaken the creature before he even dared fight it, a Witcher may be a monster killer but being ill prepared and arrogant was a sure way to die quickly. As he walked through the market he heard a few peasants talking, what they mentioned drew his attention so he stayed close, following them as they spoke.
“I ‘eard dat dat shifty trader be sellin’ all sorts, da sheriff got him ta pack up and all.”
“Really, das shame. I coulda used sum of da poision he was sellin’ to get rid of dem rats in my house… what he call it …Kikki fang drops ?”
“Kikkimore Fang…was some …sickly green colour I see…smelt of nothing too but da man da touched it fell unconious for a while… stuff dangerous good ting he gone.”
“I suppose your right, where is the trader now ?”
“Probably at da northern gates by now.”
The Witcher had heard enough, he made haste to northern gate to catch up with the trader. Kikkimore poison was a strong and unscented venom which caused crippling pain to any unfortunate creature that got injected with it, it could work he told himself although he didn’t know how much would do the trick. But then came the question of how he would deliver the toxin into the dragons system, by poisoned blade, arrow tip or maybe food?

A lone old man with mule that carried his cart full of goods stood looking out at the horizon, the old man seemed lost in his thought or perhaps daydreaming as he jumped surprised when Reaver approached him. The old man wore torn carpet like fabrics around him, his beard was grey and fell to his chest were it not for his poor clothing he'd probably be mistaken for a wise man.

“Oh hm mm you shouldn’t sneak up on people like that young man.”
“I didn’t sneak up on you, you were daydreaming.
“hmph!” he crossed his arms “What do you want from me !” he yelled, apparently the sheriff had not been the only one to ask him to leave. The old man proceeded and complain about how the people of the town were rude and saw the poisons he was selling on the market as unethical.
“Right, well I’m here to purchase some. I have a contract to kill a Sun Wyrm and I heard you had Kikkimore venom. May I purchase some ?”
The old man stared at him for a second then smiled brightly, like a child whom had found his used candy under his bed. His voice was more lively now and the old man nodded a lot.
“Of course !” he said as he began to rummage through the carts boxes. “I have many poisons, toxins and venoms of sort. Could I interest you in Balisse fruit’s as well, they are poisons until soaked in…” before the old man could finish Reaver interrupted him.
“The Kikkimore poison” he showed the old man a pouch filled with coins keeping his stare on him, it left the old man uneasy. In the end he stopped trying to sell other wares and gave the poison to the Witcher. With that done Reaver set off with enough food provisions to last him the journey.
The Sun Wymn Contract
I overheard peasants talking about a merchant being escorted out of the town for selling unethical products of which one was Kikkimore venom, a poison and unscented. I managed to catch up with the trader and purchased all his stock, unknowing to him that the coins I gave him are worthless in these lands. I have started to make my way across the lands to the plains north of Widu.

Journal Entry

It took me half a day to arrive at these dunes, the mountains I had to pass were treacherous and I dread having to pass through them upon my return to Widu. From afar I could hear the roars and distant growls of creatures, the local thunderstorm did nothing to help my hearing or sight as I walked down the mountain. I was lucky enough to find a few sheeps that followed me from the mountain, I think I know how I'm going to administer the Kikkimore venom.
The Witcher calculated each step as he descended from the mountains steep hill, one misstep and he would roll himself to death. Smashing and hitting every single sharp rock as he went down, not a fate he particularly enjoyed the idea of. A sheep had followed him along the way most likely wanting the carrot and herbs he'd stashed from the mountain's top, it was good fate however. A chilly wind passed him, his bones quivered at the feeling of isolation yet a witcher ought to be used to such. That brought back a memory of Vas Teral, one of many he told himself as he recalled it.

Vas Teral, kingdom of the east. Nestled deep in the Detil Valley and neighbor to the religious state Kelona, the growing non human haven Bagera and the military power known as Blomyia, home of the blood crusaders. Vas Teral was a series of plains and mountains which gave a natural protection and enough crop lands to keep the nation surviving for many seasons falls, only one River ran through it and that river began up in Kelona. The Witcher's Wildcat School was far from any cities and villages giving it the necessary privacy it often needed for its rituals and less then ethical training, Witchers were trained from a young age however Reaver had been a more unique case, a young adolescent had found his way to the Witchers acamdey covered in blood of monsters and mud from months of walking alone. This boy had survived everything only to be told he was to old yet he remained and learnt by copying and listening eventually a Elite Witcher would grant him the chance to become a witcher. Reaver took that chance and became the witcher he is now.

Vas Teral was a cesspool of political machination and devious play, the small kingdom that had once aspired to lead was now nothing more than a land of cursed creatures. That alone became truth when the Cei'ra Gaurdian a shattered bubble in time escaped her reality and arrived in this one, causing the curse know nas the affliction to grow out of control and rampage across the lands. Something which the Witcher undoubtly would have to deal with eventually.

Reaver focused back on his task, he was at the edge of where the mountains met the dunes he looked around from where he stood seeing nothing but night sky and distant shadows that loomed over the stars. He hoped that this was the creature he was searching for, if not then he would have to keep looking and find another means to kill it. The dumb sheep bite at his backpack in vain, instead of biting the carrot it bit into the vial of kikkimore venom and drank it. Seconds later as the venom seeped into its body the sheep fell to the ground crying.

"BaaaahhhhhhhhA!" it cried. A screech followed by a roar was close, onyl then did Reaver understand that a creature was approaching him. He rolled over and hid behind a rock. The landing of the creature was anything but graceful, it landed with all its weight and made the ground shake for a second. It indeed looked like a dragon but with a light buld like tail and additional arms and legs, it looked yearning for the ship yet confused as to what might have done this. It takes a moment then eats the sheep in one fell swoop.

Reaver drew his silver sword and rushed to meet the Sun Wyrm.

The monster saw him coming, it lunged forwards and sweeped the floor with its claws. The Witcher was able to roll over the sweep and land gracefully only to contuine his charge. He swung his sword a few times, quickly and efficiently at the underbelly of the creature. The Sun wymn growled and flapped its wings a few times, it hovered over him then slammed its entire body on the sandy dunes.

The shock hit Reaver and sent him rolling on his side away from the creature, he took a few moments to compose himself then reached for his silver sword. The monster gazed down at him, its neck pushing the face much higher than Reavers yet it didn’t intimidate him. He couldn’t run, running would mean the monster would chase him down and kill him.

“Dam your ugly.” He said he performed the sign Yerden twice and then fired an Aard at the monster. Typically annoyed by the sudden force push the creature stamped towards Reaver yet this time there was a lazy and almost slow change to it, perhaps the venom was taking effect. The monster crossed the two yerden’s and was now temporary stuck on the ground, it feebled attempted to fly away but its wings refused to flap more then once.
Seeing an opportunity he ran over to the tail of the monster and stamped down on it with both feet followed by the witchers silver sword tearing through the tail’s light bulb, the monster screamed in pain as it tried in vain to shake the witcher off its tail with a few swings of its tail.

Strange sickly blood leaked from its tail mixed with a fluorescent liquid, Reaver realized that the monster was on the move again. The yerden’s had only lasted a few seconds, he quickly pulled the silver sword out and lept up onto the monsters back digging the silver sword into the bright yellow scales and deep into its skin, the witcher held on tighly trying to reach for the steel sword. The monster took flight with Reaver on its back.

Air rushed past him threatening to take him in one fell swipe yet he held on and after a few attempts by the dragon to shake him off Reaver was able to grab his steel sword, now the fun began. Using both swords as hooks he pulled himself further along the dragon in aims to weaken it enough that it crashes, it was messy to say the least. Blood splattered and spilled out of the monster as its muscles tenses and drove the wings to fly, the witcher looked like a red blur on the yellow scales of this monster.
He had reached the wings when it began to falter and slow down, eventually it went into a nose dive and crashed into the dunes sending the Witcher flying and hitting the soft patch of sand. After a few seconds of shock he got up and walked over to the monster. It lay breathing heavily, blood oozed from its mouth and other wounds which in turn tainted the yellow scales.
He walked over to his silver sword and examine it for a moment. The silver sword had disintergrated the monsters scales and torn through its scales leaving nothing but disfigured scales. The Witcher pulled the sword only to realize that half way over the blade it had snapped, his steel sword faired no better. He sighed, that would be something else to replace yet that at least he could get easily.

A job well done, the creature lay still alive if only on its last breathes. He wondered if the shop keeper would pay more if the creature was still somewhat alive, less rotten that way he told himself. He would find out for himself.

Journal Entry,
The venom worked as expected, it weakened the creature and allowed me the time to wound its tail that if given time could’ve blinded me. It was still a tough fight yet I prevailed, I have left the creature alive if only barely its now in its box. I must return the box to the owner.
