Peasants Requests

Post by Zachrin »

A group of peasant arrive at town hall hot, sweating, and wielding wheat forks. They seem very upset about the heat and the stillness of the air. They seem to call out for action.

"Mayor, we need money to deal with this crisis. How much will you give us to help us or shall we be ignored?"

[OOC: This is an RP event for mayors and others to interact with. Mayors will have until March 31st end of day before reset to give an answer. The money will be taken from town hall and the response of the peasants posted here and in the TH event log]

Johnstone working at his desk heard sound and racket coming from out side the town hall. He was astonished to see A group of peasant arrive at town hall hot, sweating, and wielding wheat forks. They seem very upset about the heat and the stillness of the air. They seem to call out for action.

A leader for the peasants speak up, "Mayor, we need money to deal with this crisis. How much will you give us to help us or shall we be ignored?"

John began collecting his thoughts....He had just sent the Army in Paz to Bravia to help out there. Why did I do that, he thought to himself.... Now he was trapped in the town hall by himself and surrounded by a mob of peasants with weapons.

Nikki was heading toward the mayor’s office, swinging a basket at her side filled with klahua cakes and fire brandy to share with the mayor. As she approached the Town Hall, she was surprised to find a rather large group of unfamiliar people standing before the Town Hall.

How nice, she thought, that all these people would be here to shout encouragement to John.

Upon getting closer to the crowd, her smile froze on her face as one or two of the peasants turned to note her arrival. They seemed angry. Oh dear, was her second thought. As she listened to their complaint, she wondered how on earth John was supposed to be responsible for controlling the weather. Hmmm, was her third thought, maybe a rain dance might be in order.

Deciding against trying to pick her way through the crowd, she ducked into a side street and wound around to the back of the Town Hall, slipping inside through the back door.

“John?” she called out, not sure whether he had noticed the angry mob yet or not. “John?” she called again as she entered his study and stopped short as she noticed him staring out the window. Walking up beside him, she set the basket on his desk and peered out the window alongside him.

“So. What should we do?”

Janvis has no clue what is going on, what the peasants want or anything. He walks across to ask the peasants what's happening...

"Nikki, they want money for this heat....that makes no sense. They seem upset and I do not wish to anger them more. We do need to do something, but what? " He sets down at his desk and scratches his head.

Several peasants see Janvis and start begging for money.

"We need money for drinks, food, and shelter. This heat will kill us otherwise! Help us! Please"

Hearing their cries for help. John spoke, "I guess we could set them up temporarily in the temple to give them shelter from the heat and set up a soup kitchen to give them food and something to drink. What do you think?"

John sat down and wrote out the following requests:

Good People of the Viceroyalty of Bravia,

We have a crisis on our hands and we need help. We plan to set up a soup kitchen and are in need of food items and drinks for the less fortunate in our midst. We need to take care of our own, please give what you can. If we all give a little, a lot will be gathered.

Thank you for you help,

John Johnstone
Viceroy of Bravia
John had his steward bring items to the town hall to give for the soup kitchen.

Right after John had donated the food, he received word from far away lands that a fabled Warlock of Weather, a man who holds the arcane secrets to altering the weather needed to be freed and he'd no doubt reward us by fixing our lands climates.
After reading this John knew that he must join the quest to help his people.

He looked around....Who else is willing to go to help?

John looked out his window and saw a second mob of peasants come up....It looks as if they have doubling in number... He hears popping, sizzling, and running liquid because the heat is so intense.

The peasants react....

Upon hearing John’s suggestion of a soup kitchen, Nikki sneaked out the back door and ran to her home to see what she might have to donate for the cause. Filling a basket, she came back and handed over her goods to the Town Hall.

As she was helping to arrange the goodies, John heard about the Warlock of Weather. She knew that this would be the best way to help the people of Paz. He asked for volunteers to help free the Warlock. She didn't know anything about Warlocks, and very little of freeing someone being held against their will. But someone should do something.

“I will go, though I do not know the way.”

Before she could say more, John looked back out the window and mentioned more peasants arriving to add to the chaos outside. She walked over to stand beside him, looking out the window at the horde of peasants.

“Perhaps you should say something to them, John. Let them know what you have learned and what we are doing to try to help them through this. Maybe that will calm them for a while at least.”

She bit her lip as she thought further on the situation. “The temple would be the best place to house them, but would so many together in one place simply turn the building into a furnace? They need shade and a breeze. Or maybe a cave. Are there any caves in the area? Big enough for all of those to be inside and out of the sun without being cramped?”
