Ranks of an Army

The In-Game (IG) system for Armies has 3 major ranks to it. Here, we will briefly discuss a little about each of the three ranks.

  1. The General is the military advisory to the council. In theory, they should have all knowledge regarding any armies that are within the Viceroyalty. They are able to view the location of armies, but not who is the Captain of each. In addition, they can view the node's status. As such, it is a logical conclusion that a General should be vigilant in knowing who has raised an army.
  2. The Captain is the leader of an army. This rank may or may not be recognized by the Viceroyalty. They are responsible for the upkeep of the Army's Morale as well as the pay and inventory of the Army. They are able to authorize members to join the army or remove them.
  3. The Lieutenant is the 2nd in command. This rank may or may not be recognized by the Viceroyalty. They are the assistant to the Captain and should the Captain die, they would take command of the army.

Raising the Army

Any person who is a level 4 or higher may raise an Army using their personal Army Points. It is imperative to note that personal Army Points are capped at 100 and are reset to that number if higher every start of day (aka Reset).

The cost to raise the army for a level 4 is dependent on their chosen way as well as if they have Mastered the University class "Division Training". If they have mastered the class then it will cost them 20 Army Points (if Army way) or 23 Army Points (if any other way). Otherwise, it is a flat 25 Army Points across the board for all Level 4's.

In addition, a Level 2 or higher who is a current Patron can raise an army for 500 Freznics avoiding the need for Army Points to raise the Army. However, to maintain it, they will need people to donate Army Points to the army.

The General of a Viceroyalty may raise an army using the Army Points of the Viceroyalty. The cost is as listed above for Level 4 Army Points.

It should be noted that when you raise an army there is a chance that you may be seen by others on that node. Finally, Viceroyalties may have laws against raising armies without their permission.

What Can they Do?

Armies can be used either defensively or offensively. The big thing to remember is that an army "officially" belongs to the Captain. They can choose whether to follow a Viceroyalty or not. There are consequences for actions. On the same token, maybe that's why the army was formed in the first place.

With an army, you can:

  1. Attack a node (Cost: 3 Army Points (AP) or 2 AP with Mastery of Division Training). You can do this to change a node's allegiance away from a Viceroyalty. It is important to note that if a node belongs to a Viceroyalty, you will have to make it independent first before you can change it to another Viceroyalty.
  2. Defend the Node (No Cost). This is how to protect against attacks of a node.
  3. Attack an army: Perhaps you are sick and tired of seeing someone's banner flying high over town. Attack their army and get them out!
  4. Town Besiege (Cost: 5 AP or 4 AP with Mastery of Division Training). If the attacked town belongs to a VR and is successful the town becomes independent. If the town is independent, it can be declared the territory of a VR. A town besiege will put the army versus the town militia and defenders in a stats battle.
  5. The Captain can name their 2nd in command, pay their soldiers, give any inventory in the army to their soldiers, or even disband the army.

Size, Morale and Disbanding

The size of groups can be as large as 8 members. However, armies that are raised with personal funds or army points may have a maximum of 32 members. An army raised by a general using Viceregal Points is permitted 40 members.

When an army is raised it has 100% Morale. Every day, that morale will go down by default. Victories help raise morale a little. The Captain of the army may also spend 5 AP to raise the morale. If the Captain allows the morale to drop below 33%, there is a chance that the army will disband without warning. Mastery of the skill Army Morale will assist with upkeep of morale to help prevent this.

If an army disbands, the money in the Army is transferred to the Captain. However, any army points or inventory in the army is lost. This is why one should be careful about what stays in the army and what gets transferred. A good captain will learn the necessary balance.
