Duels are a fun way to challenge other players who may have offended your character or for many other possible reasons. Some towns or Viceroyalties may also have Dueling contests. If yours does not, then you may want to contact the Mayor or Leader of your Viceroyalty to discuss the possibility.

Challenge Them

To challenge someone to a duel, go to Towns > Town Duels. You will then enter who you wish to challenge as well as the terms and type of the duel.

There are 6 specific terms you can have for a duel:

  1. First Blood: This will result in the duel being considered finished after either you or the other party takes damage.
  2. Five (5) Points: This will result in the duel being considered finished after either you or the other party gets to 5 Points. A point is awarded each time you win the round. [Introduced in 3.0.6]
  3. Five (5) Rounds: This will result in the duel being considered finished after 5 Rounds. The Winner will be whomever gets the most points with a point being awarded each time you win a round. In the case of a tie, the challenger loses. [Introduced in 3.0.6]
  4. Moderate Injury: This will result in the duel being considered finished after either you or the other party gets to "Weak fitness level [Introduced in 3.0.6]
  5. Severe Injury: This will result in the duel being considered finished after either you or the other party gets to "Dying" fitness level.
  6. Death: This will result in the duel being considered finished after either you or the other party dies.

Starting in 2r35, players will also be able to select whether the duel will be based on each individuals stats or a random luck generator. It should be noted that even with the stats based duels that there is a bit of luck involved. However, if your character's stats greatly outweigh your opponent, it's likely you'll win each round and the duel. Stat Duels that last to 100 Rounds will have the point system come into play to decide a winner.

With the luck based model, stats are immaterial and will not affect the outcome of the duel.

Once you have hit the "Challenge Them" button, they will receive a note informing them of your challenge.

Challenged Issued Options

Once a player has been requested to duel, there are only a few options that can take place:

  1. Player accepts the duel. They must be in the town where the duel was requested. If both players are present, then the duel will start at the next reset. Otherwise, the duel will be considered as finished.
  2. Player refuses the duel. This can only be done in the town where the duel was requested.
  3. The original challenger withdraws the challenge.
  4. The Duel expires after 7 days

The Duel Itself

The Duel occurs during reset. Players can select whether or not they wish to use their skills/spells in Duels by going to Settings > Fight and selecting the option. Each round of the Duel can be RP'd out as a series of hits, blows, and misses. However, the Duel Rounds are determined by the IG mechanics. Players can win, lose, or even "tie".

It should be noted that you can lose fitness levels in duels or even die. If you do not wish to die, then it is strongly advised not to select the to the death option.
