Roadmap

From World of Secfenia

This is a special meta page that contains the community envisioned roadmap for the wiki. These milestones are non-linear and presented in logical order, though in practice multiple objectives will be worked on at the same time.

If you would like to discuss or change these objectives, please use the discuss link at the top.

Teams : Some Wiki contributors will be better at some things than others so it may make sense that each phase is a team. Some contributors will be better at editing and some at copy-pasting and some at creating original content. It's okay to find a niche!

(Complete) Phase 1 : Creation of the Wiki

The Wiki should be created and have a couple pages in it.

(Complete) Phase 2 : Vast upload of information into the Wiki

The Wiki should have a lot of pages and information created within it. This helps establish the Wiki as a useful source of information.

(Complete) Phase 3: Wiki technical completeness (Copypasta team)

The wiki should have all of the information from the tutorials uploaded/created within it so that it is technically complete. This means that it is the fulfillment of Zachrin's initial Wikipedia goal.

(Complete) Phase 4: Wiki internal completeness (Completeness team)

This sort of bleeds over into the next phase, but if there is a page that should really be made but isn't a tutorial, this would be the push for that. For example, there's no tutorial for what the workshop recipes are or what exactly the different university courses do, and those are good things to have. Also, if there are some links on the home page of the wiki, those should be filled in.

  • Common questions with no tutorial
  • Pages linked to the Secfenia wiki landing page
  • Things that are in the game but don't have a tutorial (eg, workshop formulas)

Please see the Tutorials page

Phase 4: Wiki polish (Polish team)

A little polish goes a long way into making the wiki both usable and desirable.

  • Making sure that when something is mentioned, it has a link
  • Making sure pages with similar content have useful text on all the pages - for example, if the Strength stat page mentions how stats can be raised, then the Intelligence (...etc...) pages should have this blurb/mention also.
  • Some pages are good enough but not technically complete, for example, if the Carpenter Workshop page did not list all of the carpenter recipes
  • Making sure that the Special:WantedPages have pages where appropriate
  • Making sure that pages have categories where appropriate

Making a list of pages inside the wiki seems a bit counter-productive, but you could do this (like Phase 3). Or, you could go through, flag all of the pages with a special cleanup template, and remove the template when it is ready, using the special page (pages that use this template) feature in the wiki.

Phase 5: Navigation (Nav team)

Navigation is the heart and soul of any wiki project, and without a good way of finding information within 1-2 clicks, a wiki will fall flat. The good navigation of the wiki includes the sidebar, and the landing page

Special pages like the sidebar can only be edited by admins so this team will require special wiki admin help.

Phase 6: Desirables (Super-knowledge team)

The last phase of this plan is to put into place information that is desired by players but not conventionally available or extremely hard to find. This might be tutorials, guides, extra lore, statistics, or anything else. This phase also includes creation of a wiki page where users/guests can request information and/or a place on the forum where this can be done.
