Level I

From World of Secfenia
Jump to: navigation, search

Level I will be the first milestone for your character during their development in Secfenia. Upon reaching Level I, your character gains opportunities to affect the lives of those around you and contribute to shaping the world of Secfenia. You will be able to influence the economy with produce from your fields, make your stand in politics by voting or running for office yourself, or even overthrow those in power by joining an army. Many possibilities open up to you and your character upon reaching Level I.

An important aspect during Level I which one should take note of is the definition of one's character. Your character will be at the golden age of his development during this time. The forums provide examples of interesting characters and role-plays created by other users that you may use as reference during your own creation.

It is also recommended that new players read the Basics of Role-playing Guide before they engage in their first active role-play experience, whether in the Taverns or the Forums.

Additions to Reaching Level I

Crop Fields

Once you have become Level 1, you will have the option to have one of 7 fields. For newer players, we tend to recommend crop fields (Vegetable, corn, wheat, or klah) as it has the lowest upfront cost and decent return. However, your local town mentor will have their recommendation listed with the scribe as they can see what is needed.

The fields each have their own work days. You can either work yourself or hire out to someone. It is recommended that you hire out as you get a Worker Point as well as better Production. Now, let's briefly talk about the 4 crop fields.

Vegetable Field

Veggies are an easy and helpful crop in Secfenia as this item can be eaten by people satisfying 1 Hunger Point (HP) and granting 1 Charisma point. Every Viceroyalty produces a different type of local vegetable but all veggies fulfill the same hunger and Charisma requirements.

The growing cycle of a veggie field is 5 days long and requires only 1 work day.

Corn Field

Corn is an important crop in Secfenia as it can be eaten by people to satisfy 1 Hunger Point and bought from any market. Corn can also be fed to animals to maintain their health and productivity.

The growing cycle of a corn field is 8 days long with 2 work days (Day 2 and 8) and requires 1 bag of corn in your storage box for Day 2.

Wheat Field

Wheat is the basic ingredient for making bread in Secfenia. It is also an important fodder crop used to feed cows which in turn provide hides and meat. Wheat cannot be eaten straight from the field (unless you're a cow). Wheat must be milled into flour by a Miller before a Baker may bake it into bread.

The growing cycle of a wheat field is 10 days long with 3 work days (Days 1, 2, and 10) and requires 1 wheat in your storage box for Day 2.

Klah Field

Klah Stems may be ate as a basic 1 HP food while the leaves from the plant may be made into a coffee like drink for the tavern known as Klahua.

The growing cycle of a Klah field is 7 days long with 3 work days (Days 1, 2, and 7) and requires 1 klah stem in your storage box for Day 2.

Animal Fields

While some may enjoy the simplicity of the Crop Fields, the Animal Fields can bring greater profit, but can also bring a lot of headaches. Please note that during Level 1, you may always choose to get a second field either from a player, town, or from the land office.

If you decide to do any of the animal fields, please note that you will need the money up front to buy the animals from the Viceroyalty. You can buy up to 4 at a time and how you feed them will affect the profit you can have. Their health is just one factor to keep in mind!

Let's briefly discuss the 3 Animal Fields one can have.

Chicken Field

To keep your chickens healthy, they will require corn.

From Chickens, you receive eggs. These eggs are essential to developing your Dexterity in the Training Ground in town. Dexterity is an important stat for fights, robbing, and other physical activities. In addition, chickens can be slaughtered for plucked chickens which are in turn sold to a butcher to make chicken legs. This is a yummy treat that grants 1 Hunger Point and 1 Strength Point.

Cow Field

To keep your cows healthy, they will require wheat.

On a cow field, one may milk the cows when they are healthy enough. This will produce milk (worth 1 Hunger Point and 1 Intelligence point) and is counted as a work day. (Remember that you can hire out for a Worker Point and better production!) Also, you can slaughter the cows for pieces of cow carcasses which can be sold to butchers. They can in turn makes steaks which satisfy 2 Hunger Points and grant 2 Strength.

Sheep Field

Sheep do not need to be fed as they will eat grass, but beware... this means their health is more variable.

Sheep are valuable for their wool. You can hire out or personally shear them to get this item. You can also slaughter them for hides which is valuable for Weavers.

Town Resources

There are also additional job opportunities as you level. After level 0, you may choose to work in your town resource. Each town can be either a Lake, Forest, or Orchard. Let us briefly discuss these 3.

Lake

This is where you can get fish. Fish are worth 2 Hunger Points (HP) and give 2 Intelligence. For the most effective fishing, one should have a boat equipped.

Orchard

This is where you can get fruit. Fruit are worth 2 Hunger Points (HP) and give 2 Charisma. For the most effective picking, one should have a bucket equipped.

Forest

This is where you can get wood. Wood is an important component of many items made in workshops. (Workshops become available at level 2) For the most effective chopping, one should have an axe equipped.

Government

At level 1, you have two new functions available in government. You can run for office and you can vote for office. The main thing to understand is there are currently two levels in which office applies.

The town level is headed by a Mayor who is selected every 30 days. You can vote for the Mayor under the Town Hall option (under the Town menu) as well as register if you so choose. Just note that if you do decide to go into this position, you will have to maintain the town.

The next level up is the Viceregal level. Depending upon the government style, it may be led either by a Monarch of or a Republic Council. In both styles, you will have a chance to put your voice forth as well as register to try to be in the government.

Finally, there is another feature that you should be aware of. If you use a Patron potion, you can have certain extra benefits like having your vote count twice. Patron potion does require the purchase of Pandora Points (located under Premium > Buy Premium)

Travel Basics and Groups

At level 1, you get the ability to travel and if you want, to move to other towns. To travel, you can select on Travel (under the "The Outskirts" menu). You will have after reset 6 (or 9 for Patrons) Travel Points. You can use this to travel to other nodes (roads, mines, towns, shallows, or Deep water) or forage when out of town (Cost: 1 Travel Point per attempt).

Starting with Version 3.0.0, you will be able to select one or two nodes to travel at a time by selecting them. The 2nd node option will be listed under the 1 node option with the text "...then". Traveling through water will require you to have a boat. Different boats have different speeds and can go into different types of water.

Also, any items that you carry with you may be robbed. As such, you may wish to transfer some items to your storage box making them safe at home. You will, however, be unable to access them until you are back in town. Some people also contact mayors to see if there are additional options for travelers.

An additional aspect granted to Level 1's is the ability to form or join a group. You can start a group by going to "My Group/Army". An army is a specialized feature that you can not create until at least level 2.

If you do not wish to lead a group, you can join a group or army by going to "Groups and Armies" (under the "The Outskirts" Menu). There may be times in which they request that you "follow the leader" under the "My Group/Army" screen. This is important especially when you travel, but as a note of warning... you are following their orders!

If you are going to travel, don't forget to set your fight options located under "Fight Options" (in the "My Settings" menu).

A note is that if you travel, are attacked, and die then you will end up back in the last town that you were in. However, if you are a leader of a group or army and die, the surviving members will travel to the node you originally were intending to go completing your last order.

The Outskirts

The Outskirts has a lot of additional features which open up for you once you reach level 1. Some of these things can be done multiple times a day without it being considered your daily job. For example, check out the Traveller's Caravan for "Find the Bean" as well as other little games including Dice Master (introduced in Version 3.0.0).

There is also an option that will allow you to be able to see how all the towns of Secfenia stack up as far as population and approval rating. This is a great screen to use to contact mayors or leaders to ask questions about places you may visit or may reside in. Introduced in Version 3.0.0, Viceroyalties also have a Prestige level. The higher this level is the better people tend to feel about living there.

One last thing to mention is that you can scout and hunt for Yvyrms, Zyrks, and Xanthareels, all of which can be very strong. Yvyrms can be very destructive to mines and towns, but Zyrks can be helpful. Xanthareels are only found in waterways and can be even stronger than Yvyrms and Zyrks. Before hunting any of these creatures, you may wish to first work on your stats first. After all, when you die, you can lose stats!

Other Things To Know

When you make your journey through level 1 and beyond, it is important to remember that you are at the center of your character's development. Jump into the forums and interact with people. It's a whole world to explore and you are at the helm with others to paint the future.

Also, don't forget that you will need to work on your stats to progress in the game. You can gain Charisma either from Vegetables or Fruits, Intelligence from either milk or fish, and Strength from either chicken legs or steaks. There also may be additional ways to get combinations of stats. A great resource can be found in the Food guide. Other resources include the VR Tavern (located under "The Outskirts"), the FAQ area in the forums, and your local town mentor.

You will gain 20 Level 1 Tokens when you level. These tokens may be used towards your stats or towards weapon proficiencies under 75%. To use them, go to Viceroyalty > Level Tokens.

Finally, don't forget in Level 1 and above, you can start getting clothes which you will be able to wear to improve your character. This may be a great opportunity to role-play with others in the forum as you build your character up. Don't forget that this is our game and together we build the future.
